Well, after my run in with the other NM that's fished up back in October, I end up pulling this up.

I decided to go clamming with my friend and on the boat, I wanted to pull up Harajnite to show him. I equip my composite rod and shrimp lure and start fishing away. Finally, something caught on to it. My friend said "It's a mob. Bring it up." I brought it up for sure. I just seen the outline of it at first so I was excited that I caught him. I turn around and here is Mr. Cyclopean Conch. I had no idea the level nor had heard anyone talk about him. I engage, my friend starts casting stuff on him (stone 4 for 30 damage >.>). The AoE poison sucked. -14 hp/tick to me [if I can count right] with my auto regen.

Luckily, as did with Harajnite, the ship made it to our area and we zoned before any damage done.

These two must seriously hate me T_T

It will use Venom Shell every single time it shells up. Rather than burn antidotes just do what Serket/Amikiri parties do and use a poison potion (it won't be overwritten by Venom Shell)

Manaclipper is the ship that tours the Bibiki Bay area.
Drops?

Anybody know what this drops? Im sure it drops at least a seashell and Uragnite shell.
56rng/war own'd it
# Jan 16 2005 at 5:29 AM Rating: Decent
it was fished up on my first trip today. As a rng/war. you would have thought i fought it all day like some gillseller. Very easy. Im 56 atm using Bodkin arrows and a war bow+1 with yellow curry in my stomach. My sidewinder owned it and with it out of its shell, i hit for abotu 240 each time. Oh yea, about the poison aoe... At first it hit me and i was cured. THe second time, believe it or not, i ran out of range of the aoe to avoid it. one thing to notice is that it will not move from its place while in its shell and while its doing a special attack. Lol its an excellent mob to skill up on also, for those extreme party animals anyway. Peace

1 of the best things for this nm from MNK would be Chakra cause it gets rid of poison^^ thats why i love getting poisoned...lol
*sigh*

1) Barwater + Barpoison

2) Have a few Antidotes before attempting to take him on.

3) DON'T use weapon skills when he's inside his shell. They do full damage when he's outside, 25% when he's inside.

4) DISPEL THE GOD DAMNED REGEN! I can't believe most of the populace hasn't even tried this. The regen is replaced every time he goes back into the shell, so just dispel it each time.

He's NOT that hard. It's just people don't think anymore when they engage something.
I just fished this thing up

Im a 55drg/war and I fished it up.. I did alright agaisnt it till it went into its shell

I had about 700hp left when I pulled it up and I hit it for 120jump 20 Highjump and a 280 penta and then super jumped so Wuffi would take hate.

I took off about 1/4 of its hp and then it regened.. and I then only hit it for about 10 dmg and it regen faster.. It hit me for about 80-100 dmg. Tough guy

A friend of a friend who was in my friend's friend's LS... >.> And I were going over to the island to check it out after the expansion came out, I have to say, TW doesn't mean anything on these mobs, AoE poison seems to be as much as 10-15 per tick (it overrided regen 1 and was still draining my pld quickly) They also have very heavy defense and they regen HP (I saw it going up between my blood pacts) I'm a 49 smn and the single most effective attack against these was Ramuh's Thunder 2, it took off about 1/6-1/5 of it's full HP, although the boat ride isn't long enough to kill one like that, and the regen effect throws it all off. Spikes, Dispel, Poison Potions, BIG nukes, and Refresh is all I have to say, lol.
Aoe poison not large range

Its poison is not that large of a range, and the Manaclipper is a large enough boat to be able to avoid this mobs poison. This NMs aoe poison range is no larger than regular urganites.
Killed it 4 times

Got a PT of 4-5 ppl together to hunt Harajnite. Fished up this mob at the same spot on the boat ride everytime. Killed it 4 times, no drop though. The next time we fished up Harajnite near the start of the boat ride. Only got it down to 1/2 health by the time the boat docked with a PT of 6. Cyclopean Conch is cake compared to this mob. Harajnite takes about 1/2 normal dmg when its not tucked in its shell, and about 1/8 when it is. If you dont have an alliance, you will not kill this mob in the time of the boat ride.

Cyclopean Conch isn't too difficutlt, had a PT of 70-74; WHM, DRK, DRK, BLM. You just have to time your attacks out correctly. Be sure you are familiar with urganite type mobs before you attempt this fight.

Poison is 25 hp a tick, same as Harajnite also.

NM

I've fought this mob and Harajnite on the manaclipper. Both fished up with a shrimp lure. Poison on the urganites in Bibiki Bay is 15 HP a tick. This NM's poison is stronger at about 20-30 HP a tick and its HP regen is stronger than the regular Urganites also. I got Cyclopean Conch to about 1/2 health before the ship docked. Harajnite is much stronger, and didn't make a huge dent in his hp. I'm going to get a few high dmg dealers from my LS to come with and kill both these NMs. As a 74 BLM/RDM, I couldn't take them solo in the short amount of time you have on the manaclipper.
My recomended PT to kill these mobs are 4 dmg dealers 70+, one having dispel, and bring anidotes.
Do WS when it raises its shell, cause when its tucked in its shell, dmg dealt to it is reduced to 1/4 that of normal.

wtf?
# Oct 02 2004 at 4:16 PM Rating: Default

Depending on your level.
Poison
# Oct 02 2004 at 2:01 PM Rating: Default
I was on the manaclipper and this thing was caught. It's caught by fishing. I was smart enough to stay as far away from it as I could. However, the poison's an AoE attack that's AoE's the whole Manaclipper, so if you're on the manaclipper, bring a poison potion. Now what'll come to a shock for you is the amount of HP this poison takes away per tick... It takes 25 HP per tick... Don't mess with this mob... I ended up dieing from poison alone with 1220 HP.
Not Horribly related.

This is not so much about this monster, but a blanket statement reguarding poisons as a whole.

If you are going up against a creature that deals massive damage through poison (Anything about 10hp a tick) you would do well to drink a poison potion to give yourself a measly ~4hp/tick poison before the fight so that when you are hit with the heavier poison, the weaker one stays in effect. This is also used to prevent being slept as well.

It may sound odd, but I would rather take an assured ~4hp/tick poison than anything 10hp/tick or above. Just a little trick I had passed down to me as a wee one. ^^

excellent tip...Rate up^^
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 30 2004 at 6:00 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is NOT a hard mob people. It's EXTREMELY easy if you have a RDM. The reason it takes so long to kill is because people don't realize you have to do BIG attacks AFTER it raises out of it's shell, immediatly dispelling it's regen as soon as it pops back down. I almost SOLOED this at level 60 RDM, would have, too..but ran out of time.
damn

we almost killed this mob.... There are 3 big things about this NM. One it has a aoe that almost hits the entire boat your riding on, and takes about 10-20hp/second. It also regens increadibly fast. imo you could kill it really fast with 3 blms casting ancient magic and a couple rangers. We tried it with 75sam 68rng 67pld and 75pld and got it to 25% life left, but we had no poisona and luckly the boat docked and we all lived. Still wonder what it drops =/ The mob has gotta have about 8000hp or so. and I doubt u'll ever get an accurate amount because it regens so fast. Also, its often fished up with lu shangs, and shrimp lure
