General InformationLottery spawn of the Damselflies that spawn from (D-8) through (F-8) in Valkurm Dunes PH Info from SmokesalotThe PH is the mob the prevents the NM from spawning until it is killed. In the case of the Valkurm Emperor, it is one of the Damselflies that roams about Whitesands beach in Valkurm Dunes. What a kagillion people refuse to take into their minds is that VE has ONE placeholder, and that's it. Go to the beach with Widescan ability, and position yourself at the peak of the sandhill just northwest of the pack of trees in the middle of the beach. Pull up WS, and you'll see something like this. Damselfly Goblin Mugger Goblin Leecher Goblin Gambler Sniper Sniper Sniper Sniper Damselfly<~~~~~PH!!! This is a truncated list, but as you can see the PH is located in the set of four Damselflies between the leeches and the snipers, and is always the top one. These flies are always grouped in four, and are always located between the snipers and the thread leeches. When VE pops your list will look like this... Sniper Sniper Sniper Damselfly Damselfly Damselfly Valkurm Emperor Thread Leech Thread Leech Thread Leech Thread Leech VE always pops on the bottom of the list. If there aren't four flies in the list, that means someone else is killing them. Either nearby parties, or other campers. If this is happening, you have to figure out a way to nab yourself the PH, and be 100% sure that the fly you kill is the PH. After that, go ahead and let the other campers waste their time killing the other flies. Valkurm Emperor Special Attacks

If your on ifrit then you have met the likes of namegato, drivers, generated, ayoung,..... the list goes on they are all in the drivers linkshell and have sold every pin in ah records in jueno from 800-950k >< i am lvling thf, rng, and nin at same time and need this pin. i am freat witout it and will be super great with it. I would like to use Thf/Bst for this, i use it on Hoo and its great.
unfortunatly my bst is lvl 1. its widescan sucks (which is actually nice for hoo since it just covers the area im looking for)
But i think since it is such a large area, ill go thf/rng to cover the area and with flee, i should be able to get close enough to just use steal it.
and hopefully the team of 3 that always camps it (and gets 90% of the pops) wont get it -_-

ALL NM drops should be Rare Ex. Period. I'm tired of high lvl players camping these things for money when there are plenty of people like myself who NEED the gear to perform at our best. I'm not the only person in the server, nor the most important one, so I don't have the RIGHT to monopolize this thing for my own greed. Neither do you. If you're not camping an NM specifically for the gear it drops because you NEED it, stay the hell away from it.
There are other, more honest ways to make money that DON'T involve inflating the price of great gear to rape everyone else for the sake of your own greed. Learn them.

The problem with camping a drop like this with a party, is everybody wants it. Ive camped this creature 4 times, and now know almost all the spawn points for the Damesfly.
Believe you me, camping for 35 hours straight was NOT fun. But once my party left after a good 21 hours of pting, I got the drop once, when to Medicine Axe, teleported to sandy gate, chocoboed back to Valkurm Dunes, and nabbed my 4th Valkurm Emperor for its 4th consecutive drop. By the time I made it back to San'Odoria, the other one had already sold for 1,000,000gil. I love gil buying noobs. ^__^

Been camping this off and on, seems I had not even seen a pop. So I couldn't sleep lastnight and at 345am I stopped out at my spot in valkrum as 47thf/rng. I got bored really quickly and started skill upping hand 2 hand on a leech. Well I checked wide scan, figuring I'd better try to go to sleep again. Saw the name Valk. Emp. on widescan, did a double take and disengauged my leech. I hit flee and ran up to it made the claim with steal, no one was around. Ofcourse the leech followed me, and then two damselflys linked. I used ranged attack with bloody bolts to keep my hp alive, mind you in game its night time and undead were roaming around. I dropped emp and then got lag, once the lag was over I got mad cause I thought I didnt get the pin, so I ran to selbina zone to cool off. Got to Selbina looked through my items, Emperors Hairpin 40th slot out of 40 slots. First claim, first drop, now my thf isn't a gimp ^^
WOW that would've SUCKED if you had all slots full then check your log and find you HAD gotten it.
orz. i recommend NOT doing this: sleep (bolt or spell), disenegage, deodorize, sneak attack, hide... it'll turn unclaimed.. omg, reeeaaallly gay

A few months ago I was levelling THF in the dunes with a party, just around the area where VE spawns. All of a sudden our puller starts screaming about an emperor that's killing her.
Of course, she then drags the thing back to camp, so we all have a nice upfront look of VE for the first time before it wiped us out.
Back then I didn't know what an NM was (n00b alert!), but now, I am desperate to get my hands on the pin in VE's clutches.
T__T Pity. I don't think I'll ever get as close to VE as I did when I was a 15 THF. Every time I pass through the area, I see a group of highbies camping VE.

Wanna stop this thing from being so damn overcamped? Listen SE, make the drop rare/ex and a 100% drop like the opiticial hat. That'll know the wind out of some gilseller's sails.

I don't know how it is on the other servers, but about a month ago a party of 6 gilsellers decided to camp this bad boy hardcore on Caitsith. Until then gilsellers were relatively non-existant, rather if they were there it was one or two and they never camped 24/7. It's a little upsetting seeing as how this was my money maker.
Has any other server seen a change in gilseller activity on the emp?
Another thing is they are extremely good at claiming him now too, they camp the major sections, they are quick on widescan, and they have timed him really well. Very frustrating.
I thought SE made a rule about no one monopolizing Notorious Monsters but I guess they are not following through with it because I have called GM's on them a few times, 1 for trying to MPK me when I have claimed, and 2 to ask about this monopolization rule. All I got was the typical "We will investigate this matter further."
I am currently trying to get an event together on Caitsith to anger these gilsellers. My plan is to get an alliance to camp him (I have about 12 people so far) and we are going to drag him to secret beach once we claim, and then 3 or 4 people at a time will hold him for while, changing people so that no one has to stay there forever. We want to keep him alive as long as possible. Anyone interested in joining on my server let me know :) and if anyone has any better ideas on how to handle this situation let me know, I'm tired of gilsellers ruining the economy and everyone's fun.

yeah we have a problem with gil sellers on ifrit. Mostly camping every NM. The main thing these gilsellers camp though is stroper chymes in ordelles caves, emperor, and leaping lizzy. It's really annoying when you need quick money and don't have time to farm and you end up going head to head with people that have camping an NM down to a "T" we've put in complaints to our GM's but there's nothing that they've done, and nothing they seem to be able to do.
Seriously, it's bad on Ifrit, if you aren't a 45 RNG with Shadowbind good luck getting this mob. As a level 50 THF, it ticks me off that I really will have to make 900k just to be doing competitive damage.
And Agreed Ceng, wtf is up with the GMs just not caring about this??? It's really irritating to watch a whole PT of bots chase this thing down, and kill it, and watch 2 of them get stuck on trees for 10 minutes...yeah that's a real player for sure.

UMMMMMM.Probally chances of you living are bad.I wouldnt try.While Im at it I think I should just tell you no.Even tho this is one of the biggest nms in the game its worth it to ask for a cure and then you could probally use your 2hr.But most likely youd die unless someone cured you.

If you wanna claim it fast, go as BST50/THF25. Wide scan, Flee and Charm for extremely fast claims. (Can't charm NM's, so you'll bind + claim them instead)

im a lvl 30war i was ptying in valk trying to get golden bats drops when i ran by VE i never knew what the drop was or if it was an NM so we killed it and got drop but my friend lotted it for 999 >< talk about luck so hes 2mill richer since this thing sells for 2m in jeuno on pandemonium server 2nd i ran by it got it killed it got drop lotted it for 3 points >< and the 3rd time i killed it i got the drop sold it for 750k in sandy and spent it all on new gear and woodworking equipment so 3/3 is an awsome drop rate
My notes on VE:

There are 2 pops in the clump of trees, one east of it, 1 NE, one north, one south of the lone tree, one northwest of the lone tree, and two in the far west area.
If you don't have widescan, you wont get the claim unless it pops on top of you.
If you're a THF/RNG, you won't get the claim if it pops in the clump of trees where all the vokers camp.
VE only drops to gilsellers and people who don't need the item/gil. VE does NOT drop to people who actually need the item or gil unless you stumble upon him accidentily.

Used to be over a mil on carbuncle. I need a quick 600k so I check what it was. Its now 700k-750kish. So hopefully its starting to go down. >_< i still need my quick 600k.
ive camped VE numerous times at different lvls with different people... ive camped him as 30 war with a 35war/nin friend and got pop... no drop (without TH).. ive gone with a 56 blm/whm friend as a 40 drk/thf (with th) no drop.. ive gone with a 60 thf (th2 obviously) with no drop.. solo as 50 drk no drop... today i was there for 2 hrs a few gilsellers were there it also popped i forget to use flee but see him ...still i get pop with stun as my 50drk/25thf and for the 8th time ... "You find a insect wing on the Valkurm Emperor" WTF????? cant a drk just get it once and wtf do i need to do to get it?? lol ... im angry sorry had to vent ... VE YOU ******* IMA GET YOUR PIN ONE OF THESE DAYS

I got this *** on the Phoenix Server as a 45THF/22NIN as I was omw back from farming Pugils for Shall Shells, he pop'd behind some guy and I guess he was AFK because he only reacted when I attacked it! Sweet cus I pissed him off and got a drop on my first ever claim!!!
Easiest 850k I ever made :P, well it will be when I sell it, but I will use it for lvling my Nin (currently level 25)and possibly for my ranger when I get it to a high enough level.
Not to say this guy is easy, because I spent hours camping him and not even a spawn on most days.

i was told it popped every hour and half to 2 hours but i cant verify.

this thing on Sylph is impossible to get.
all in all there are about 15, 24/7 gilsellers there and they never leave, they log on within pop time, grab it, get a friend to take it off them, sell it and then repeat the process, if your on Sylph watch out for these

...Don't mind the title, well, turns out I fought and snatched once again. Long story of why it's my fith time, but I've noticed level 35s and below seem to get killed by this NM no matter if they use their 2hr or not...still-- I am a little skeptical what could be hidding within this creature....onto the wabbit~
