Killed him when helping sopmeone get thier key (even though they didnt need it.. just though hey your farming and we have a small party lets get your key now. youll need it in 5 levels)

I got the Bird Whistle. Seems pretty cool. Not worth much on Fairy though <1000 gil I think.
Not worth it for the hassle as a lvl 30 Job. All the other yags in teh area will aggro at that level and if you are a mage you are going to have trouble getting spells off with all the damage you take with hits from those pesky Votarys

I just finished helping a random whtmage get his last kazham key. He used a trick staff II to warp out after saying ty. I find a blkmage and she is willing to D2 me but before I can go to her pos this NM pops. I kill him after 3 swings and he drops whistle. I didn't want it cause I got one from a friend so I gave it to the blkmage.

Was a close battle was down to my 2hr but he went down....
i'd say it was a good fight at this lvl but i'd do it again...

Ive kill this Nm 7 times now while getting necklaces for my norg fame and got 4 bird whistles the only good for BRD gave them away to some of my friends is an ok drop for ppl thats going thr BRD or BST route
I took him as a lvl 33 War solo. I was just messing around fighting Votarys and then he popped. I disengaged the Votary I was fighting and engaged him. Had one heal from a passing WHM, slaughtered him and then the Votary. Got the whistle.

So my WHM45 friend and I (THF43) are in Giddeus killing things to help a BLM25 get his Giddeus key, hunting in the enclosed area where Vuu Puqu spawns and the tunnel beyond it. There was another camper in the area who offered to help, so long as we didn't touch the NM. I'm like, ***** that. We're 43THF/45WHM/25BLM, we don't need the help of a guy wearing LV10 armor. (And yes, he was indeed wearing LV10 armor.) I do offer to let him join, IF we are allowed a fair lot at the treasure that Vuu Puqu drops. He gets extremely mad at that and stops communicating for a while. XD Anyway, a few minutes later, my WHM sees Vuu pop while the camper is killing a Votary, and she Flashes it. Bam! Pwned. Vuu never even got a chance to use Soul Voice before he was killed, AND we got the drop. I won the lot. :D Easiest 3k I ever made. And after it was dead, the camper ran off whining like a little girl, even though he could have had better odds at the drop if he hadn't been so greedy. :)

i killed evrything came in front of me i even left and helpped son lvl 25ppl get their key for their airship pass came back and still nothing so i kneel to heal and went to get a drink and the f cker was hitting me so i started fightting it killed it didnt get jack so i waitted again and 30min later he poped and got the wistle

I was just running through Giddeus, and I come all the way down here. So I think "Hmmm, lets check Allakhazam!" So, sure enough, Vuu Puqo the Beguiler spawns in this enclosed area. Ok, so I'm sitting there beating up yagudos trying to get Beastmen's Seals for BCNM, and sure enough HE SPAWNS RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. I knew there was a DRK around, but I didn't aggro it right away since I knew it would link. I waited around 50 seconds for the Theologist and Priest to walk away, then I engaged. Took me just over a minute to kill... RDM34/THF15 ( farming sub -_- ). During the fight, I noticed I was losing more HP than the NM was hitting me for. Then I turned my camera around, and sure enough, a Votary, and a Priest were enfeebling me/meleeing my back. Great. I asked the DRK to help and he killed the Votary, but not before I was taken out by the Priest.
Oh well, at least I got the whistle. ^^;

klilled him twice, gotten whistle both times. first time was killing everything for a key. second time i was just messing around and suddenly he was next to me. massacred him and got whistle. so it seems to drop every time.
Yes, I definitely agree that the Piper is the placeholder. I was camping him today and only saw 1 piper at any given time. This was the only mob that I killed other than the few yagudo that still con'd easy to me and aggro'd. The piper seems to have a spawn time of about 6-7 minutes or so. I killed 6 pipers before Vuu spawned. I don't know what poster who said he was casting Water III was talking about. He's a Bard type mob and used Valor Minuet II and Foe Requiem II. He was hitting me for about 30hp/attack and was using a knife so delay time wasn't that much. I did beat him. It wasn't difficult at all, but I wouldn't say it was easy. I did get the whistle which made me very happy since that's the reason I was camping him. ^_^ I beat him as 32BLM/WHM btw.

I think that there may be a Piper back there that spawns as a placeholder. There's one back there all the time. Only saw the NM one time while getting a key, and it only dropped the circlet. Maybe I'll have to try for the whistle then :)
I agree that the Piper is a placeholder, I've gotten Beguiler to spawn by killing only the Piper.

Heh, I was just going key hunting when this guy spawned. Our party killed him with ease, and he dropped the bird whistle.

i beat him easily when i was lv30 war and beat him again like crap with lv42 paladin today.

Really Easy, Took my lvl 20 Mnk with a lvl 28 whm and killed this guy easily. Shouldnt have any problem killing him. And he droped the Whistle.

No kidding. My friend and I (both around 23 WHMs) took him out with just a bit of trouble. Not a tough mob at all. Plus he dropped the bird whistle for my bard =D.

I think it's rather random how tough he is. My friend (33PLD at the most at the time) soloed it, but I once saw a 66DRK die from it and his 60+BLM party member kill it with less than half HP by the end... He also did an AoE that hust me and my two friends who were watching; 300-400 damage to each of us.
They might have been fighting the mob for DRK AF1. He is spawned in the same area, and is much tougher.
At level 60, I was train farming this area, and picked him up by accident. Still handled him and 8 other yags there with no problem, so I doubt a 66DRk and 60BLM would have any trouble...

Just to state my experience with this guy... I'm a lvl 30/12 MNK/WAR. Was in Giddeus getting a key and saw this guy. I'd read the previous post (in which a lvl 45 DRG got crushed) so was a bit wary. Nevertheless went for it (reckless by nature). Mithkabob, Dodge, Focus, then Hundred Fists. The guy went down practically without a fight (hit me once for 21 pts). Gave me 12 exp. I would estimate he has around 800HP. Contrary to the previous posts, the lvl rating seems pretty accurate.

Your talking about Vaa Huja the Erudite ><. He's lvl 45 so it's no wonder he whupped you. There's a lot of confusion about who's who in Giddeus with all these NM's with forgetable names.
Vaa Huja drop's nothing interesting but he's part of the DRK af1 quest. He's spawned when someone trades a Cherry to the ??? in the back. Same area as Vuu. You may be able to spawn him when not on the quest if you really want to fight him.

It spawns every few hours and hes not that hard. lvl 25 theif(me), 24 whitemage, and a 27 theif easily beat him :-/ He drops a circlet that i think has his name in it. Its defense 7 and mind+2 i guess its an ok item. oh and i couldnt find it at the AH so i have no idea how much it sells for.

most NM spawn after a day vanadiel time (approx 45 mins real life time) some u need to kill a place holder
