Vana'diel Bestiary: Moblin Ashman  

Killed 8 times before I finally got hotrok. Did not get ONE other drop all 8 kills. >.<;

I'am just wondering if i can solo this guy at lvl 42 pld??? could be even match?

I hope this helps, ive found only 1 spot that this spawns (mabey people kill others while im looking) but just before you cross the bridge (which requires people at various levers to open)... down below at position K-10 just before you would enter Mine Shaft #2716 ive killed him. First time i killed him i recieved Moblumin Ingot (used in 74ish crafting)

I just soloed him as a THF55/NIN27. He checked as EP low evasion to me. I used a Mithkabob (forgot to check him after that), and pulled him without Sneak Attack, since he was near some other mobs and I wanted to pull while they weren't looking. He wasn't very hard even without Bloody Bolts, but with them he was cake. He missed like crazy, though my evasion was 168+24 (yeah, I'm 10 levels under cap ><). Keeping Utsusemi up was no problem; the only time it would wear too fast is if he cast a -ga spell too soon. He cast Dispel on me once, but it was absorbed by one of my shadows. ;)

All in all, the fight took maybe 4-5 minutes, and a Moblin Hotrok and a suit of Moblin Mail dropped. Yay! I took the Hotrok, cuz that's what I came to get, and my PLD friend who was mining nearby took the mail (he likes to desynth moblin equipment). Now to try sneaking through Ulegurand Range... x_x

Got ashman 3 times in a row. Had a pt of 3 pld, thf, & blm(me). TH2 helps alot got the drop all 3 times, there was another pt there farming the hotrock also got ashman twice no drop ; ;

He finally dropped! I decided to give him one last shot and camped him. The first time he dropped only gil. The second time he finally dropped that damned rock. I hope everyone else has better luck than I did with him. 25 kills seems excessive to me. o_O

He registers as easy prey to me so I'd say he's around lvl 45-48ish. I've fought him 10 times now and not once has he dropped this rock for me. It's starting to get slighty frusterating. Anyways, he spawns about once every 15 min in the room with the three levers at the very bottom floor. He's by himself, so you don't have to worry about a link. As for toughness, I'd say other than the local NM, he's the toughest mob in this place. Good luck out there. ^^

Ummm...yeah...what is up with the funny colored stick he's got? Does he really have that?

And then...does he drop it for US?
