This is one of the best mobs for BST in the appropriate level range. When this gob starts casting -ga spells, as long as you run away from your pet (or whichever target), he will not hit you (unless you're a real slowpoke). Always keep an eye out for poisonga II because it hits fast and hard sometimes.

They are incredibly easy to solo. They all con decent at 75, they have a cap of 74. Just keep HP ample.
well....

I guess we have a great setup... My Semi-Static party has been partying in Bibiki Bay pulling mostly Hobgoblin Fascinators out of need. The xp is Awesome as you all know. I could not figure out why we (me and the other WAR puller) kept getting checked by the other parties there...but now I know. We have been partying against these beasts since 60. I am now 62 as of last night.

Setup is:
WAR/NIN Elf - Groosalug
WAR/NIN Galka - Some Dumbarse ;)
PLD Hume - Deathdealer
BRD Tarutaru - Smackbones!!!
WHM Taru - Several diff ones during party
SMN Mithra - Blueseven

I'm not trying to brag, but am instead giving you an idea as to how a party can work against these guys. It is a HUGE task, but can be done with chains :D AND at lower levels. We pulled 13k in 3.5 hrs...not bad at all.

Funniest part was... nobody else pulled the Fascinators...so we had an endless supply. Although one death did ocure during a bomb that took 871 damage from all the melee... Shadows didnt help here >.< Being a Galka does though ;)

Two things
Dispel!!! & Silence!!! :D GL

Very easily soloable by a 73+ BST with Garuda's Dagger and suffiencient dagger skill. The Silence additional effect comes in really handy.

I wouldn't recommend exping off hobgoblins until about lvl 64.

I was in a 60-62 pt there (laugh) and the exp ranged from 250-350 exp, but long *** fights. As soon as we began, the pld was doomed to die eventually, and when he did...

Raise pld > teleport mea > labyrinth of onzozo

If you ALWAYS have barfira up and know how to get the gob to drop the bomb toss, then this place is very good exp.

I went into Bibiki Bay just curriously looking around with my lvl 41 BLM/ 20 WHM. I didn't think to get an escort because the Mobs at the entrance were easy prey. All was well, when i got to a fork in the road and decided to go left. I had sneak and deoderize cast just in case i ran up on something. Guess What! I ran up on a Hobgoblin who was more than happy to share Bio III with me when my deoderize wore off. If he hadn't have stood there recasting, i wouldn't have made it out alive. I guess i will return when i get to lvl 60. Thank goodness for Warp!

Only a very very few, couerls, may aggro to smell. Always cast Sneak > Invisible when exploring a new area.
ouch!

Hehe...like stated elsewhere in posts, please have rdm full af casting silence...And a blm and/or drk that knows how to use stun. At 61pld, was taken from ab 1100hp to death from water IV, bombtoss, Critical hit.

Casting

This hobgoblin isn't too shy about casting flare. It likes to cast sleepga II to the party and then flare right after. Pretty easy after you silence him if it sticks. Thanks!

With the release of CoP, several people from my LS decided to go to Bibiki Bay to see if it was a viable area to gain experience points. Heading to the west side of Bibiki Bay, we camped at the a small pass before the spawn point of the Hobgoblin martialist (I will update with grid coordinates). From here we camped the Hobgoblin Martialist (warrior-type), Hobgoblin Venerer (ranger-type), and Hobgoblin Fascinator (black mage). The party consisted of a lvl 60 PLD/WAR, lvl 63 RNG/THF ,lvl 60 BLM/WHM, lvl 61 MNK/WAR, lvl 61 BRD/WHM, and lvl 61 RDM/WHM (me). Experience on the first kill in the chain ranged from 165-180, and we were able to get to chain 4 for about 240 at times. Lvling on these mobs can be viable for a more balanced group and provide an alternative to Labyrinth of Onzozo or Valley of Sorrows.

Specifically for the Fascinator, it loved to use -aga II spells (Blizzaga II was used several times) as well as occasionaly Ancient Magic. Use silence when possible (with maxed enfeebling and full AF I was resisted about once every three attempts to silence). Confirmed drops are the typical normal goblin drops (goblin mask, fire crystals).

Ran into one of these suckers when I went exploring. It was crazy, I didn't even know mobs jumped in difficulty. It checked IT++ to a lvl 54. Hit me for over 200+ damage each time. Whatever you do, don't go on the backside of the island.
