Vana'diel Bestiary: Zi'Ghi Boneeater  

I'm reading through all these posts, and I guess I'm a little surprised. Others on my LS have said they have as much trouble with the drop as most of you do.

I'm 3/3 on Braveheart. And that's with my 30war/15rng. My first two went for 28k a pop in Jeuno. This last one goes to a friend who is lvling DRK. 1 hour spawn time seems about right though.

He seems to be a 2+ HR wait for the first kill... like PH has been there to long or something.. but after that, I can set my watch to 1HR for spawn.

Ok, currently ? for 4. ?? because ive 'killed' him 4 times but one time FFXI Server timed out and when i relog hes dead but inventory was full so no Braveheart. I just killed him again so 4/4 on gauntlets and i noticed that if you stand by the gate, facing the pile of whatever the light in the hallway to the left turns on alot brighter just before he spawns, i think thats helpful. good Luck!

Lvl 17 SAM/BRD with NPC beat him and got Course Gauntlets ><. Didn't have my 2hr up so couldn't use it. Was an easier fight then I thought it would be lol. My NPC was on DD mode, not mage or tank. We tanked about half the fight each.

Never seem to run into these NMs, but I wanted to add: There's no need to deathwarp to bastok, just take the boat to Zeruhn Mines.

A easy way to pop him and kill him is to go as a high level BLM or have a AoE WS. First thing you do is voke/aga a quadav through the gate. About 2-3 mins later 10-20 quads will come up and bum rush you.

WHen you're sure they're all by you, kill them with a aga. Even without TH you usually find some good stuff (fetich pieces, shields, scrolls, etc)

Repeat that until he pops. Then nab him through the gate with a powerful spell or just pull him.

I'm 1/3 on him.

After the update early last week I went to go camp him while raising my SMN magic (40 SMN). I'd camped him three times before (0/3 on Braveheart), and he'd popped between 45 minutes and 90 minutes from my arrival.

This time I was there for a good two hours before a BLM showed up and camped for an hour with me. Still no sign of the NM. I finally gave up after moving my SMN magic up 4 levels and waiting over 3 hours for the spawn.

Anyone know if the time on this spawn was changed after the recent update? I'll head back sometime next week to try again, but I'd be disappointed if the spawn time is now more than 90 minutes or so. This guy is rarely camped on Fenrir and I'd like the Braveheart for my low level WAR.

i was looking for some quaduvs to pick on with wide scan, (i was going as war/rng because i felt i was neglecting war) saw him on the list did a check here went after him and killed him and two onyx quaduvs that were trying to guard him as well, i got the coarse gauntlets so im one 1/1 coarse guantlets and 0/0 on brave heart ill be looking for him whenever im nearby now^^

Just killed him on Seraph server, approximately 3:17 P.M. EST. I was helping a Linkshell member get his final Kazham Airship pass key and got there alittle before he did, went on an NM check throughout Palbourough. Crimson wasn't up, nor Headhunter, or Boneeater. He zoned in, we got him his Key in about three quadav. I went back to Boneater spanw room and waited for respawn, and he popped. There wasn't a soul camping this guy, easy claim, easy kill, Braveheart drop. The Braveheart is a decent drop, especially for Dunes level Darks. If you're planning on leveling Dark past 15, you should definately camp this NM. Short respawn time, he spawned again just over an hour later, and another Braveheart. Overall its time well spent, getting the sword for yourself, farming in between spawntimes, and being an easy kill, no challenge at all for a 30+ job^ ^

Was tooling around Palborough as Morea, half searching for key half levelling solo (beta server=horrid parties, so soloing is the best option). Was on the other side of the gate when he popped. I had 1/2 HP from a 4 Quadov link, so I knew I wasn't ready quite yet. I go to rest and he casts Banish on me. Son of a... Fine. Voked him through the gate and watched him barrel off down the corridor.

Two thoughts came to mind: 1. The path around to my side is a long one, and chances are he's not that dumb to give chase all the way around; and 2. I've seen some spells/Provoke stick claim on an enemy for a long period of time before, but there's no way it'll stay with him wandering by dozens of adventurers who would never let a free shot at an NM pass them by.

Low and behold to my amazement, here he comes around the corner with his name still orange. Word. Best part too is he was bringing a train of Quadov that everyone pulled away from him in attempts to try and claim this NM that, unknown to them, was on a high speed chase to kill me. So the train of Quadov became a train of "anon" PCs trying to claim him. Sorry kids, this guy's mine. Few minutes later, he's dead. Made an emote "Morea raises the Braveheart high above her head in victory", which was met with mixed praise and negativity.

I'll tell you, though, NM claiming on Hydra is horrible. Granted most NMs are rarely camped, should you get one in a crowded area (like in this case), people wont just stand around you to see if you'll die, some will actually stand nose to nose with me for no reason.

Can't wait til the beta ends and the rooks are isolated there forever while I'm enjoying my time on Alexander. Sorry for the rant. Long story short, anyone want a Braveheart? =)

I saw that he dropped so i got my thf and newly aquired rng and headed out (30/1) and I camped him and he poped pretty easily within 20 mins of being there, I did kill everything in the area. Got the braveheart and left,I am tryin to get to sell the braveheart this time, 150k odin server, but he wont drop the dang thing. Bad luck as a thf I geuss. 1/3 so far, and the pop is roughly an hour as from what I can tell.

I took this guy down a couple of days ago as BLM30/THF15. He was no match for me. Got the sword too so now I'm 1/1 on him. Nice weapon, planning on using it to lvl DRK and PLD.

I'm reading this and realising just how lucky i was when i fought him. I was doing some sort of mission or something or other in the mines (i forget what it was), when low and behold a NM. I don't know you Mr NM. But i'm going to take my chances and kill you anyways. Braveheart. First time. Only time. Thanks Mr NM. I didn't even have TH on. I'm a fricken BLM.

Good luck to the rest of you, and keep trying. But not too hard. I might want to go back and try my luck again sometime. Don't want all you bastards around crowding the place lol

I was in the process of doing windy 2-3 mission and came across him. Took him out with my 32blm/whm and got the braveheart. Guess it was my lucky day

As a 25WAR/12MNK I was waiting for people to help me get the kahzam keys and started killing this guy. I had used Braveheart before switching to a Neckchopper so I knew how much it was worth. I killed him 3 times and got 3 gauntlets before I got a party. One time a high level DRK was running by and started buffing for the fight but I had been camping and voked it faster than I thought I could!

That was a long time ago and it was about 80k on Midgarsomr, I've been in the jungle so long I have no idea what it could be today.

Hmmm, that sucks to hear. Because when I got it, it was after killing him once, then logging for an hour and showing up to kill him again, etc... (for 3 hours).

This guy no longer spawns each hour...sorry. I spent 15 minutes killing all the quadav's in that room, then he popped. Killed easily as a 57smn, I didn't get the Braveheart, so I stayed around to try again. After 3 hours (killing everything in that room), he didn't spawn again.

this nm is on a timer, he pops around every hour. his place holder is the vetran quadav thats in the room. the place holder pops every 8 mins. hope that helps.

was doing the dark quest/rank 3 mission and as I was running throu I saw him. killed him in about 1 minute 30 seconds, only hit me 2 times for total of 20 damage. I was a 30mnk/rdm dropped the crap gauntlets. most of the quadavs in the area died after 4-5 hits.

Saw him at the end of a mining trip. Killed him and he dropped the Braveheart. Considering the mining trip had been terrible, it was nice to see.

Killed him as a WAR32/MNK16. Even without any armour on, he was quite easy.

I fought him and got the Braveheart on the first time with TH. Fought him 3 other times and just the gauntlets XP
