Man, sellers are hording this guy non-stop on Ifrit. I'm pretty damn amazed they got through. But I think a couple of those are sold accounts, I've seen some of their names before on what I think was legit players a long time ago. Probably wrong though on that one.

I've been camping this guy for a month now.. if anyone wanted some more drop rate numbers, I'm 3/19 on the tusk drop with war sub, and 0/4 on drops with thf sub. So 3/23 so far on the tusk, no rings yet, but tusk is 1.3 mil, and ring is only about 200k.

I was exploring in Lufaise tonight, not expecting anything out of the ordinary. I came into the area where Megalobugard pops, but I didn't know it at the time. I saw about 3 ppl running around and thought nothing of it. All of a sudden straight ahead I see this thing. I'd never fought him before, but thought it couldnt hurt, since I'm DRG75/RDM37. I didn't really notice the regen throughout the fight. The first thing I noticed was that this thing either has the most horrible accurracy ever, or maybe it was just my evasion (219) and parrying (225). He was no challenge at all, took me about 5 minutes to kill. No drop though -_-

I was trying to get my Astral Earring today as 58SMN/RNG and happened to see a Megalobogard on widescan (which was wierd because I've camped Padfoot a lot and never seen it before). Since poking something I had never seen before seemed more fun than Widescanning and he had been sitting there a minute, I poked him...then I stuck Carbuncle on him. I figured, if Carbuncle can hit him, I can wear him down and be fine.

So Carbuncle started hitting him and I saw his health barely start to go down, so I did a Meteorite. It did decent damage, but then I saw his health start to rise. I aske my LS what he was and they tld me he has insane regen skills.

So long story short, I sat there and kited him for about 20 or so minutes and eventually had a few LS come and help kill him with no drop (;_;). Now that I've read this these threads, I don't think the JP players watching me were hoping I die just so they could get the claim, I think they were probably watching me because they popped him and hated me for taking thier pop. :-p

0 for 27 now on megalo horn...I've learned the ropes on how the lotto pop works, and it's very easy.

Drop rate sucks horribly without TH (I've had TH probably a quarter of the time)

EDIT: I can confirm, BLM75 Tarutaru can solo it without Manafont. I've done it many times. What I do is claim him with stun, sleep him, then rest to full. Then unload on him thunder 4 > blizz 4 > fire 4 > aero 4 > thunder 4 > blizzard 4. I think the reason I might be able to do this is because of Sorcerer's Sabots <3.

{Spawn} {Yes Please}
# Aug 16 2005 at 11:54 AM Rating: Good
This is how you make it spawn, forget having Ranger subed this is an easy NM to make spawn. Theres 3 Locations you have to watch (1) In the Valley (2) North from Valley to the left (3) and the right. All the Groups are clearly defined.
Group(1) is in the valley (duh). Group (2) is betwean the valley entry and the narrow passage leading to Tavnazian Stronghold. Group (3) is between the valley entry and the old beat up shed. Group (1) has 1 burgard, Group (2) has 2 Burgards and Group (3) has 2 Burgards. If there is an extra one in one of those loctaions then the placeholder is one of them (ex: Location (2) has 3 burgards than one of those 3 are the PH) when you find the group with an extra Burgard kill all of them in that group and go to the valley wait 5 mins after you killed the last one. If a extra burgard or Megalo doesn't spawn in the valley go to the other groups and check for the extra burguard repeat until he spawns. His respawn time is fairly short it's about an 1-1/2 to 2 hrs. Hope this helps.

Got the tusk for my igqira pants on 2nd kill... First time I claimed him my 2hr was down and I just couldn't kill him through his regen, but we had a stalemate going, so I just kept up a cycle of melee/debuff/stoneskin/Spirit Taker while a few LS mates made their way to come help out - no drop. Blast!
Second time I had Manafont, and just dropped about 6 nukes on him and his auto-regen couldn't save him - the M-bugard Tusk was mine!

I'm pretty sure BLM can't solo this without manafont.... maybe a Taru BLM starting with full MP who had strong merits and maybe some medicines... anyways he's definitely not too dangerous so even if you have no Manafont up, claim him and just hold him off til you can call in help^_^.

I've camped Mbugard a few times now, and there has been only 1 consistent pop routine.

In the valley, there are always 1-2 Gbugards. I don't know why there is sometimes only 1, but it doesn't matter. I kill the 2 down there and keep track of the exact times I killed them. You then go up on top of the ledge and kill the Gbugards up there. Kill as many as you can, but return to the valley EXACTLY 5 minutes after killing the ones in valley and wait for pops.

It seems that the ones on the ridge force Mbugard to pop, while the ones below are a lottery for his spawn.

Also, I soloed this guy as a 61 Nin/War. The only way to kill him is to use berserk, and spam your weaponskills. When your berserk goes down, spam Elemental Ninjutsu to keep his regen at a standstill until Berserk is up again. The only debuffs I used were Hojo and Kurayami, Jubaku just took too dam long to cast and didn't last long enough. Oh, although this is possible to solo at 60+ NIN, the fight was 30 min+. And no drop ; ;. What a stingy ****.

Actually, this is a REALLY big clue. I wonder where the 2nd Bugard goes if it isn't there.

Holy crap! Rate up! ^^ My friends and I have been camping Megalo often and there is this group of JP's that seem to know exactly when he pops. I've noticed an extra bugard spawning in the valley occasionally, which was my original theory on how he spawns. BTW this nm is a nightmare to camp against competition, who 99% of the time just sits in his spawn location and waits for pop.

I would also like to add, Group 2 adds the Bugard that hovers above the valley to the left. You will see in in the group on Ranger Wide Scan, but not on BST. So naturally, when using BSTs Wide Scan, discount it when searching for the placeholder. ^^

So for the last couple of nights Ive had a scout around here and managed to get the pop while I was alone after about 1hr.30mins of killing gigantobugard.

The first time I was here I was killing bugards for hours there were other campers who had been there for 6hrs+, I now know why it didnt pop for them.

Second time, after some helpful advice from a passing lvl 75 ranger (thanks^^) I knew how to pop him fast.

Ok so 3 or 4 gigantobugards pop in the bottem part of H8, always have these killed. now the trouble is there are placeholders uptop which stray onto H-7, these also need to be killed, this was very difficult alone as this gives a total of about 12-13 mobs to kill each spawn round.
Even though i evaded 80-90% of there hits they do hit for around 50 on me so I needed time to rest when Chakra wasnt enough so I split it into sections.
First I would clear the lower part, then the left top part, return to lower part clear again and rest.
wait for respawn, kill all in lower part then go to Right top part, return to lower part and clear again and rest.

This way I knew I was killing all posible placeholders and without a healer to support me this was a farely fast and quick way.

The reason it hadnt popped the day before is because campers wernt killing the gigantobugards that pop and stray into H7, which you need to do.

Anyway after a couple of rounds doing the killing he pops as im resting, nobody in area so I rest to full as the lvl 75 said it could kill me.
anyway, pop Hundred Fists, dodge focus and I was using meat miths.
Engage... 3 x ragings fists + hundred fists took it down to about 10% HP, it hadnt even put a dent in my HP, that last 10% took awhile though but he went down just as I was about to unlease another raging fists.

What did I get for my Troubles?????!!!!!!!!

Nothing ><, o yea 18exp ;/

but I'll be back!

On a note I ended up will about 1k HP left after fight so he did 500 damage to me, without Hundred Fists he would have pwned me, Soloers beware.

I've killed it 5 times. 3 times with no TH, 2 times with TH. 4 out of the 5 times I've gotten nothing to drop (no item), the other time I had a mnk/thf with me and we got a hercules' ring.

I don't even kill all the placeholders you mentioned. I start in the megalo pop area, then go west/northwest up the ramp, get bugard to south/west of there, then continue east and gather 2-4 more, then bring them on that ramp right there, and -ga III nuke all of them. I usually have 5-6 bugards. Everytime I have camped him, he has popped in under an hour.

NOTE: You can solo this thing with your 2 hour (I subbed rdm for gravity). It's a lot easier if you grab a friend with TH. Less work for you and better chance for -something- to drop.

My best guess from what I've seen is that it randomly picks one of the bugards in the area to be a lottery spawn from, with a one hour cooldown between spawns.

I just finished soloing this as a Thf62/Nin31. It took forever, but I could just barely stay ahead of the regen with Dancing Edge and using sleep bolts to set up Sneak Attack. Acid bolts and blind bolts helped a ton, also.

Edit: I got 23 exp for the kill, so that should make it a level 52 mob, according to here

As a 75BRD Taru with joyeuse, I simple could not beat this thing today. I cannot deal damage faster than it can regen it :o

Perhaps if i didnt have to stop to sing and rebuff, but seriously any remote movement on its HP bar was well and truely refilled in the time I cast stoneskin;;

I had a thief come and help me out in the end. It couldnt really touch me, and I could really touch it. I tried 2 methods - double march and try to get off consistant spirits within, and double minuet using regular weapon skills. I just could not dish it faster than it could take it. With the thief it went down incredibly fast, with a 1000DE -> 500 Detonation.

Only ring drop, 220k on pandy. Apparently the horn is a mil here :o

I've killed this NM 4 times and sadly the best drop was a Bugard Skin. Suddenly I feel so helpless :(. I've been trying to get the tusk to make my friend a pair of Igqiri Lappas, but Megalomart just isn't being nice. [link=null][/link]

You know whats really cool is when your all alone in the zone for 2 hours killing placeholders non stop and then you check scan and its finally poped and you run to it and a japanese player with about 50M in gear comes and claims it cuse he see's it on his widescan while he's running to his gil farm.

Okay, after doing some research on this guy I (as Lv60DRG/30WHM) and my fiancé (Lv60BLM/30WHM) went out and camped this thing. No competition, but the first Megalo that popped (spawned about ~15 minutes after our arrival) a Lv74NIN grabbed it and beat it down.

The two of us kept on anyway, killing every Gigantobugard to land foot in the area. No longer than an hour later our beloved Megalo popped not far behind us. In a spaz to not lose possible claim on it (we were in the middle of killing a Giganto at the time), I had my fiancé Elemental Seal + Sleep II it so we had time to kill off our little "link" and fully heal.

...Ok, this is where I ~kinda~ had a brainfart and got us both killed...

While healing, Mega fell out of our claim. Normally I wouldn't care since no one was nearby...except, oops. Well, ends up there was a Lv75 WHM standing right next to us. So once again I sorta spazzed, and here's what I did wrong...I casted Dia on it.

Now, remember, what happens when you're asleep and start loosing HP...yeah. You wake up. And, if we were at full health, you know, we wouldn't of had to sleep it. Thank god we both got Raise III's though... x.x Though unfortunately my fiancé didn't get his level back... ; ;

Next day (which is, well, now)...currently it's me (60DRG/30THF), my fiancé (59BLM/29WHM), my brother (59RDM/20NIN), and our friend (60MNK/30WAR) camping. Claimed it twice so far, and once again, after 1 hour each. We've been pretty much owning this guy now, hasn't been any problem to us at all. =3 Got all pops, but sadly, no drops yet. ; ;

And if anyone's curious...well, according to the other posts here and my own experience...my personal guess would be that he's generally about ~Lv55 or so. Not exactly sure if that's it's *actual* level or not but it's somewhere around there.

((...And, god, constantly killing all these placeholders HURTS... -.-"))

Good luck to anyone camping this~ ^^v

LOL I was reading this and thought "Hmm, this situation sounds familiar"

Then I realised it's you =P

Anyway, we were camping this again today... this time just 3 of us me (60Mnk), Takari, (above poster, 60Drg), Seig, (her fiance, 60Blm)

Killing the annoying placeholders as ever. In pain because it's taking me forever to kill them with my currently gimped equip. After a while, it spawns.

Both me and Takari were in the middle of fighting, Seig runs to sleep it as a level 75 suddenly appears. So we got it, and then we're all healed up.

Fight starts fine... I forgot to bring some defense equip, but it'll be fine.. I tanked it before without a problem. Throw up Boost and Defender, and hit away at him. (May I just point out that I -hate- Awful Glare. -25 Str or something like that. I tried to turn away but still got hit by it). Anyway, it gets down to about half health... then Takari disconnects.

Me and Seig throw up our 2 hours, my HP got as low as 100, and Seig ran out of MP casting Cure on me, but Manafront-Flare and Hundred Fists saved the day in the end.

And we got the Hercule's Ring =D So yeah... I wouldn't try this with 2 level 60s... maybe if you were very prepared and had equip especially made for him (High Strength and Defense, not much Accuracy needed) I don't know... I wouldn't like to try it myself anyway.

Oh, and to add another twist to the story... I was healing afterwards, and another Bugard spawns next to me. On about 300 HP now, I'd rather not risk fighting it, so Seig warps me. Then Seig disconnects a minute after I warp. At this point, the ring was still in the treasure.

But, he came back, and still had the ring. Sold already too, for 800k =)

...and Takari hasn't come back all night, she probably thinks we died =P

This NM definitely is a lotto pop of the Gigantobugards in Lufaise Meadows. It spawns in a little valley below a tower where Fomor Summoner, Warrior and Beastmaster spawn. My boyfriend and I killed it twice yesterday, first time got the Hercules' Ring (worth 350-380k on Gilgamesh), second time we got the ring again plus a Megalobugard Tusk (worth 350-400k on Gilgamesh). So far, we're 2/3 on Ring drops, 1/3 on the tusk, and 1/3 on Cailiff's Socks (worth 10k on Gilgamesh).

RE: so mad

DUH, he's a complete lottery spawn, like Ose. If you want this NM, you must fight for him. A DRG/WHM like myself can clear the Gigantobugards in the area so fast as to make him respawn within an hour & 1/2 (serious, killed him at 9:30, slaughtered more giganto, and he died again at 11:00). Its more important to kill the ones down below, but the ones up above also affect it.

I claimed and killed this guy twice today with a 63 RDM buddy of mine. The fight lasts forever due to his HP regen, but he's pretty easy all things considered. Both times it took around 15-20 minutes of killing placeholders for him to spawn (the two attempts where about 3 hours apart as we afked, camped Odqan, killed fomors, and skilled up some weapons). Both times he spawned in the little valley in the exact same spot.

Got the socks and the M. Bugard Tusk on the first kill (160k total on Asura, so 80k to each of us). Not a thing the second time. I'm so far 0/4 on getting the ring to drop, and the tusk has only dropped once.

In regards to his level he gave 9 xp to me and the RDM, so he should be around level 52 or so.
