You can actually avoid Doom if you're not facing him. So either tank backwards, or stay unlocked and spin around when you see it cast Mortal Glare (or Mortal Stare, or something like that). You'll get the message "Doom has no effect on..."
Also, if Doom connects and starts counting down Cursena/Holy Water won't always work. Each cast/item only gives you a chance to get rid of doom. My tank once ate 3 Holy Waters + 4 Cursena and still got killed. XD
So yea... avoid if possible.
