Following up on the Sinichi's post. Could someone tell us the directions to get to the beasts, please.

I read they are West and South of Jormungand, but also at H-9, which on the map looks to be East of Jormungand. I'm confused and wanted to understand this better before heading out.

I farm these solo for merits as a RDM. Drop rates are pretty low, and they are all VT at 75. The meat buffalo meat, however, drop quite every now and then.

Now, the prices on Remora:

Buffalo hides: 100k
Buffalo leather: 130k
Buffalo meat (12): 130k-150k
Buffalo horn: 10k

Good luck!

It seems like Uleg. Range is another spot for 72-75 parties (exp or merit). You'll find a lot of people exp'ing off the demons, eyes and taurus mobs. If you party wants to go there, but all the camps are taken, the King Buffalo camp at H-8 is your last resort. It's a hassle getting up there and the exp pts don't flow in as nicely as the other camps, but sometimes you gotta make with what you have.

I went here as a taru NIN74. Tanking things this big starts to get you dizzy because the buffalo takes up practically all of your screen so it's hard to be aware of your surroundings and what other PT members are doing. So, you'll be mostly relying on your chat log to stay up-to-date on the action.

As far as pulling is concerned, you don't have to worry about links from other types of mobs since there aren't any close to the King Buffalo. Elementals don't spawn near the camp so that's another thing you won't have to worry about.

King Buffalo info and stats

-Checks as a high VT to low IT as a taru NIN74

-Non-linking

-Sight Aggro

-When the spawn, the move around immediately so sometimes it makes pulling a pain if your pulling ability is short-ranged.

-Spawns pretty often, but not enough to pull in the high chains sometimes. There were times when we'd get chain 5 or 6 and then we'd have to wait for mobs to respawn.

-Snort: knock back attack that ignores shadows; does about 100-120ish damage. Nothing to worry about unless you are casting a spell and it gets interrupted.

-Lowing: TP-based (?) ability that plagues you with an AoE TP drain effect. If I remember right, it's at about 5%/tic. Melee DD should get top priority in getting 'Viruna' cast on them. Be sure to have WHM or /WHM mages. As for the DDs, try to skillchain before the mob uses Lowing. Sometimes, it'll spam it 3 times in a row! To be on the safe side, perform the skillchain when you have at least 110% TP.

-some sort of stomp attack: I forgot the name but it does some sort of stomp attack. When shadows were down, it did anywhere from 350-500 dmg.

-some sort of ram horm charge attack: Forgot name too. Did some amount of damage as above attack.

-Appears to be weak to fire. Set up a level 3 light skillchain and have the mages MB with their strongest fire spell.

-Resistances: Mob seemed to resist my Hojo (slow) spells alot (capped ninjitsu skill/torque). Jubaku (paralyze) landed sometimes but didn't last long. Kurayami (blind) landed consistently, but this mob is more than fairly accurate and attacks somewhat fast.

-SATA positioning: Since this mob is humongous, it may sometimes prove difficult to get positioning right since this mob will cover your whole screen (especially with a taru tank and Galka SATA'er).

-Drops: Over the course of 3 hours, my PT got the following drops = Ice Crystals (common); Buffalo Meat (semi-rare); Buffalo Hide (semi-rare) 100k; Buffalo Horn (rare)

Ug. That's all I know for now.
