This NM does not despawn very easily. If at all.

Zoned into Tower to help someone climb, and this guy was standing out in the middle of the hallway. It proceeded to aggro me, chase me to the zone, and still didn't depop.

It's wandering around as I speak. >.>

Oh, and it's true-sound. -.-; So I couldn't sneak passed it.

Did this fight last week with a semi-alliance of 12, and for some reason we ended up popping the NM before the full crew had shown up. So, half of the alliance, using a PLD as tank, proceeded to kill this thing pretty easily. Immediately after, we got the CS.

So, while we're still in CS...the other half of alliance shows up, and...pops the NM. So now, with no tank, the 75MNK/WAR decides to Provoke, Hundred Fists, Counterstance, and Berserk. We wrapped CS up as fast as we could, but two WHM's spamming Cure V's and a RDM spamming IV's couldn't keep him alive.

I have no doubt a MNK could tank this if they were /NIN. But with Berserk and massive hate from Hundred Fists...he dropped like a stone. The worst part was that the mob was missing so much, you'd think he would have survived. But when the Idol hit he was doing 200-250 and that thing attacks FAST.

Just be careful! And don't pop it when your group isn't ready. ><
Disaster Idol NM soloed as 75Blm/Rdm
# Mar 18 2007 at 7:36 AM Rating: Decent
Soloed Disaster Idol NM as 75BLM/RDM on Lightsday about 30 minutes ago.

Buffed up with Protect II, Shell II, Blink and SS.
Popped Disaster Idol and opened with gravity.
It cast Haste on itself.
I cast Burst II for 1300 dmg.
It cast Dia II on me.
I cast Freeze II for 690 dmg.
Again it cast Dia II on me.
I cast Thunder IV for 1083 dmg.
It cast Flash on me.
Blink goes down.
I use Manafont.
I started casting Flare II.
It started casting Shell IV on itself.
I cancelled Flare II and Dispeled Shell IV.
Started casting Flare II again, hit for only 306 dmg.
Stoneskin goes down.
It cast Flash on me again.
I cast Burst II for 1365 dmg.
I cast Thunder IV for 1083 dmg.
Intoxiss defeats the Disaster Idol.

Total dmg done - 5827. Fight lasted about 3 minutes. Very easy on Lightsday. Thunder spells work great. Fire and Ice based spells were resisted 50 - 75%. I also tried it on Earthday and it was difficult, it had stoneskin and spammed Stone V, Rasp and Stonega III.

yea. we were pt in the tower at low to mid 20s. can't remememer lvl. someone ran past with it chasing them. they made it out. we were neat the entrance in tunnel to the right chaining gobs. well this thing didn't despawn, instead it went after our whm when they used a spell. so as a typical pld i figure "i'll voke it and zone it" BAD IDEA. i got about 3 steps and then i was dead. it proceeded to make short work of the whm. the rest of the pt got out though. for some reason i have a feeling we were mpk'd. could be wrong though.

For some reason I have a feeling this guy tried to solo the Doll, understood he could not, then proceded to zone. Could be wrong though.

Seriously people are so paranoiac about mpk... :O

This idol is strong i was lvling my whm for chi blasting on my mnk when it came around corner chasing someone. It killed me and my whole pt i Home pointed and changed to Mnk/nin. I came back and i solod him with little difficulty. The only problem was it slowed me and made my shadows take longer. Im a merited mnk and i took about 600 dmg total in the fight. Hit me for about 200 with counterstance on. Soloable @75.Careful of his -aga i got lucky and he didnt cast these.

Just solo'd this as a 75rdm/blm bio/poison/shock kited it around the zone. took about 45 minutes. He doesnt move very fast so you can kite him fairly easy. Gravity sticks good for if you need to convert /refresh/ recast/ or stoneskin. Dont try and fight him on windsday blink is a pain. Iceday worked great though.

I was in Lower Delkfutt's Tower with a party leveling my pld. Our puller is in another room, grapping a gob, we thought. Suddenly we saw {Disaster Idol} in his pulling macro, followed by ZONE! All I could think was "Wtf is a Disaster Idol?" A higher level mage in the room ahead of us warped out about the time the Idol ran up to us. I tried to provoke it, thinking it couldn't hit me hard enough to kill me before we zoned. From the stories I'm reading here, I'm glad my provoke macro didn't go off, I'd have been one-shotted by a regular hit.

Trio'd with 73BLM, 73BRD, 75BLM

Lullaby stuck twice out of 6 tries. Basically gravity and kite one direction while BLM casts Thundaga III, rinse and repeat. 5 Thundaga III's killed it. We fought on Darksday so only had to put up with Aspir, Drain, Sleepga I,II and Bio III which was by far the worst.

It is not as hard as long as you think about the fight. If you dont have BLM's get a RNG and a RDM and kite/kill it.

This NM casts spells depending on the day you spawn him.

For example:

Lightsday = Light magic spells (ie. Blink, Haste, Banishga III etc.

Darksday = Dark magic spells (ie. Drain, Aspir, Blind etc.)

Earthsday = Earth magic spells (ie. Stonega III, Rasp etc.)

I can confirm that any Lv.75 SMN can solo this mob (I just did it). You use Carbuncle to tank for you. When he has hate, you run far away from the fight until you can't see Carbuncle's HP bar anymore. Once the pet name dissappears, start re-summoning immediately.

When you first start fighting this mob as a 75 SMN, you'll begin to think that it would be next to impossible to solo. Carbuncle's hitting him for 10-40 damage, he's hitting your pets for 100+.

However, at one point he'll use SOME ability that'll... pretty much ruin his HP (I wasn't ever able to catch it because I was too far away). You'll notice it when Carbuncle is staying alive for longer than usual. Once he dies, you'll notice an enourmous difference has been made to the Idol's HP. The fight is close to being over when you notice this.

As a SMN75 using Carbuncle, this fight shouldn't take any longer than 20 minutes. However, having a free Carbuncle is an absolute MUST.

It is Berserk, I have done it about 15 times now and I use both my char, my whm stands outside pt with /follow on the doll while carby hits so I know when carby's hp is low, He uses beserk quite often after 50% and that is what starts making it so carby kicks his ***, he also tries ancient magic more often with the beserk so carby his for more which stops the magic and he seems to have ALOT less evasion with it on aswell..
also Wind day is the worse because he recast blink every time he kills carby so carby has to take about 4 tries at hitting him before he stops chasing you

Sounds like a pretty nice concept. (smn 47) but not sure if you've noticed but when you run away so far from your avatar they tend to get stronger ive noticed it everytime i run away, it just may be that when you ran away carby started hitting harder while the nm was hitting for less, not sure but test it out for yourself :P this is what i normally do as well if im sure the "target" is stronger then i anticipated and i usually wont lose, having not done this myself i cant say but ill be sure and try to solo it ^^

This mob is for CoP. As I write this me 61 DRK, 75 BLM, 75 PLD, 72 SMN, 68 RDM, are dead. Well really the SMN got out but this is a warning this NM is no joke. The thing we did not see ... resist Stun. >< My suggestion, because it was almost dead (about 1/10 bar), hit it and hit it hard don't hold back. Four stuns and a flat blad went off. None of them hit. BLM and me both on those stuns. This thing did Water IV, and AM without even thinking about it. (Normal cast time but just kept doning it)

You do realise the worst thing you can do is use Stuns AND Flat Blade?

Never EVER use Flat Blade, unless noone has Stun or just used it. Flat Blade gives the mob a Stun status that overwrites the Stun status from spell Stun, but also blocks any future Stun spells. ("Stun has no effect", followed by Meltdown...)

And because Flat Blade only gives about 25% chance on stun... #_#

Well, I'm not exactly sure how you meant this, but if you mean it like I think you do then you're wrong.

Flat Blade's reliability and accuracy make it, at best, a last resort. In this way, you're correct. But as far as overwriting any and all future Stun spells....No. If you tried to cast Stun immediately after a successful Flat Blade, yeah, you'd get the "has no effect" message. But once the stun from Flat Blade wears, the mob is fair game again in the Stun department.

Not that I can picture a whole alliance being this coordinated, but it is actually possible to run out of Meltdown range before it occurs. When the doll starts floating, run as far away as possible. If you're fast enough, you'll see this:

"The Cursed Doll readies Meltdown. No targets within range of ability."
"The Cursed Doll falls to the ground."

Just another alternative to those who'd rather not rely on Flat Blade.
My experience with this POS.

I just got my map of Delkfutt's Tower, so I went to go camp Ogygos's for his bracelet. I take the east hall, and I notice like 5 JP's as I walked. All were /anon, but I could tell by the armor that they were high level. I continued past them until I saw an Idol in the hall. I figured just a stray Idol. so I got a little closer and made note of the name Disaster Idol. The name seemed unfamiliar, so I /checked it. Impossible to Gauge..... hmph. Ok so I figured I wouldn't de-level if I died so I gave it a try. He didn't aggro me. He didn't even notice I was there until after I got my first swing in, which missed. I then notice that he starts to cast a spell. didn't think too much of it for second, until I realized it was taking forever for him to cast it. I looked down and saw "Disaster Idol starts casting Freeze." I flipped and tried to run, but I was too late. He got me. 870 damage to a 49Drk. Thankfully, the JP's raised me. I left after that.
Magic cast is based on day.

Popped on Darksday, all it cast was Bio III, Aspir, and Drain. Judging by this, the worst days to fight would be Thundersday, Firesday, and Iceday, and the best would be Lightsday, Darksday, and Earthsday.

Was PTing in Lower Delkfutt's Tower today with my 24DRK and this thing aggro'd my PT. All I saw was "The Disaster Idol starts casting Aeroga II", thought to myself "Huh? Wtf is a disaster idol? o_O", and by the time I had typed "Uhh, hey guys, might wanna zone. ^^" We were all dead. o.o

This monster has the Ancient Magic, Tier IV, and -aga III of the element that the current day is. For instance, Earthsday = Quake, Stone IV, and Stonega III. Bar- spells and Carols help, as it cannot be silenced. Hope this helps.

It is for the 2nd part of the Tenzen path of PM 5-3.

3 Days ago we got Owned by this Idol lol

We where on our way to the DARKKINIGHT AF Fight at the tower -7 floor-

RDM/WHM 70 (me)
DRG/WAR 67
NIN/WAR 73
BLM/WHM 72
RDM/BLM 57
PLD/WAR 60

Well, we got owned lol, we pass him by, and a -ga Spell -cant remember wich- hit us all, all got "yellow" status HP, we tried to fight him, but because of the "ambush" we where not prepared, no Protects, Shell, Ninja with no Shadows, Mages with no Stoneskin, hell i was wearing my Lord Yukata LOL

We got owned, and did not him hit hard at all, BLM was the first to die, then i died -agro after spaming cures on everyone, it was a madness-, Ninja Died, Dragon died, and PLD voke him, 2 houred, and ask the RDM to please run away lol

PLD died, RDM zone it on time, and this guy come back.....and dissapear

RDM Raise us all, and we continued our AF Trip -,-

Just ran into the Disaster Idol while running through the tower looking for mobs to skillup my club with. Now he's big, and checks Impossible to Gague but being on the first floor I thought to myself 'nah, this guy'll be a pushover.' To my surprise not only did he aggro me, but hit me for 210 natural damage, no Critical. And when a 71 PLD gets hit like that, he knows he fcuked.

Once again my tried and tested method of popping Invincible and running like a little girl saved my *** to fight another day.

I was killing off idols on floor one and while healing I see this big *** idol walk by... so I checked it and freaked cause I seen what he does to 75s on here... strange thing is no one else was on that lvl but me, and he walked to the door in the back hall and disappeared. really wierd.

***edited to add***
I see and understand now its apart of CoP mission "Three Paths"... so that means a pt did quite have the setup to kill it and zoned it. Would explain why it was wondering the East side tunnels and disappeared at the door lol.

I was wondering through the tower last night and ran past a RDM/NIN (either 74 or 75, he was anon) dual-weilding a Kraken Club and a Joyeuse. He was standing at the door near the staircase at (H-5) on the first map casting all his buffs. Then, I saw this bad boy pop. About a 5 minute fight, the rdm didn't stand a chance. Once the Idol cast Firaga III, it killed the rdm's Utsusemi: Ni, and did around 680 damage. 3 more hits (about 200 each) and the taru was on the ground. I stuck around to raise him after the Idol had de-spawned, but he musta had reraise on and got up and logged. Anyways, I saw that other people were posting that he cast thunder spells and another said water spells. This one only cast fire spells, so I'm guessing it varies either by random chance, or by what day it was. It was either the end of Darksday or the beginning of Firesday when he popped him, I can't remember as it was close to the change in the days and I was standing there in awe at this thing. Anyways, I just thought I'd post the info I gathered in my short experience with this thing.
