Elemental Weakness?
# Aug 04 2006 at 5:26 PM Rating: Decent
Hm.. Well from what I've seen everyone is making this sound soloable by 56, Luckily for me I just dinged 56 SMN this morning and I've been very curious about the rope you get from killing this thing.

Though as most SMNs know; Especially at my level >.o; One crucial thing.. Or atleast for me, Is Elemental Weaknesses, So I know which Avatar will have the best chance of not getting his/her *** kicked. So... My question is; Does this thing have any elemental flaws? 'Coz I looked at the other traps and none of them say anything, And I was told many a time that every monster has -some- type of element base and a weakness.

How I thought of it was since these are bugs, They should be Earth based, But then I remembered back to the horrid days of Valkurm Dunes, and THOSE flies were Wind based.. Soo.. Maybe these are Wind Based? If anyone knows/finds out please let me know or just post a response to this so any other SMN or BLM who wants it can see it also.. ^^;

They aren't bugs, they are plants. It's a flytrap, like a Venus Flytrap.

Flytraps are generally weak to fire, at least that's what I have written down. Judging from the post below this though, Ramuh might be a better option, to stun Soporific.
{Too Weak} but {Horribly Annoying}

So I dinged 56RDM today and went after the NM to see if I could get the powerful rope.

I'd camped the ??? before for a long *** time but no fog, but thankfully, this morning there it was! I clicked on it without buffs and it spawned, quickly tossing on sleep on it, I buffed. With phallanx it was double attacking me pretty quick for 5 - 6 (five to six) damage a hit and about 20-22 without. I decided to chainspell+fire II it and got it to about 20% but but but... it used a move called "Soporific" and reset itself to 100% health again and put me to sleep. Damn.

Woke up, slept it and converted and started going again at it. Got it to about 80% before it used soporific again and unfortunately this time I'd cast stoneskin on myself and so it took about 90 seconds if it whacking away at me to wake me up. I was complaining about it in my LS chat and 60 PLD hopped on a chocobo from Dem and came out here. With both of us whacking away at it, it was just spamming soporofic left and right which was just horribly annoying. As I had hate on it, the paladin used invincible to get it off and then mysteriously, even though it was spamming soporific, it wasn't regaining any health.

If you deal piddly damage like me (50+14 a swing with dual wield + Anelaces), it may take you a very long time to kill. Even with the paladin and I, it took maybe 15 minutes, but like I said, the regen back to full move stopped happening.. I'm not sure why but it could be one of these three (or other) reasons:

a) Ran out of times it can do that move,
b) Paladin used invincible,
c) It only cures itself to full when it has debuffs. I had slow+paralyze+dia II+poison on it before the paladin help arrived, but then I left the debuffs wear and no longer did it cure itself to full. Interesting.

I'd estimate its level to be 45-50 since we didn't get any XP with the paladin being 60.

I'd say soloable by rdm 52+ (with phallanx), whm of the same level with stoneskin, and any classes a few levels higher than that if they can somehow regain HP since he double attacks pretty fast and almost never missed me (poor evasion on my part, though.)

Sorry for not being coherent, but it is pretty late.

Hit my 61 BST for 31 damage. and many other misses, Carrie hit it for 100-150~
so i'd say its about the same level as the leshy's. but hits not even half as hard.
This NM is a total joke

75 DRK/NIN, I opened with Guillotine for 800 damage, took almost half it's life away.

Hit me for 15 damage a couple times, I didn't even bother with shadows after the first 3 wore.

It was dead before I could even get enough TP for a 2nd WS.

The Leshy's in the area put up a bigger fight than this thing.

'baum' in german means tree and 'esel' means donkey, so if you translate that name, you would get TreeDonkey ^^;

the ??? is always there, i did that quest today, after you kill the NM you gotta touch the ??? again for a CS

#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 19 2005 at 3:17 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) why do they have to keep adding more and more NMs into this game i like it the way it is but when they do this stuff it just makes stuff more chaotic and all the campers for it dont even get me started there!

Dork ... This is a QUEST NM ... No Camping needed, Read the quest info to find out that it is spawned by clicking on a ??? ... there seems to be no repop time either.
