I'm a 75 Drk. I do this for easy Exp buffers every 5 days (Sky and dynamis go badly sometimes). First off, I have my macros set correctly. Test them before entering, DUH! I have done this fight more times than I can remember, but it's more than 30. It should be more than that, but I got lazy. I should have a 70+ fight record if I had gone every 5 days since it started. Anyway, here's the Drk layout:
My Accuracy Gear: Scorpion Harness, Lightning Bow +1, Emperor's Hairpin, Peacock Charm, Dodge Earring 2x, Jaridah Bazubands, Sniper's Ring 2x, Beak Mantle +1, Lif Belt, Jaridah Salvars, Chaos Sollerets, And of course V-Scythe for my main weapon.
My Smackdown Gear (That gets macroed in; all remaining gear stays the same). /equip body "Haubergeon" /equip neck "Chivalrous Chain" /equip L.ear "Spike Earring" /equip R.ear "Assault Earring" /equip Hands "Chaos Guantlets"
next set of macros
/equip L.ring "Puissance Ring +1" /equip R.ring "Assailant's Ring" /equip waist "Swordbelt +1" /equip legs "Chaos Cuisses" /equip head "Chaos Burgeonet"
Items I keep handy Icarus Wing, Vile Elixer, Vile Elixer +1, Sole Sushi +1, Blink Band
So here's my strat: Enter wearing WS gear and Blink band, Blink up, put back on Chaos Head. Eat Sole Sushi +1, Use Icarus Wing. Walk up, engage, use Absorb-Vit. When he comes up, Lay the smack down with Guillotine. Quickly Macro in Accuracy gear. Hit him a few times, Stun, use Absorb-TP (It's important to use this after you've given hits and he's given hits so he has TP to take; Doing it after guillotine is good). When you have 100% again, macro in the heavy gear and WS him again, this time using SE and LR. After WS is over, macro back in your Accuracy gear and use Bloodweapon if you feel he's not close enough to death already. Use a vile elixer as needed. If you do this with the Scorpion Harness and Dodge earrings you get hit A LOT less. Also use Sniper's rings instead of Woodsman rings. This battle usually only takes a few moments. Gob usually doesn't have enough time to get in too many rolls before mob is toast. If fight goes longer, slip in a weapon bash or another stun to give yourself a few more hits than him. Drain only after stun as drain is somewhat long in casting time. If Gob gives him full HP, sometime during the fight, then it becomes a fair fight as you no longer have the advantage of starting it off with a WS. Use the Vile Elixer +1 if it comes down to it. IMPORTANT: If you have ever won the LV 61 ring from this, bring it with you every time. If you happen to get lucky enough to get another one, you'll need to have the old one on with you to be able to throw away for the fresh one. I've only gotten 2 Tactical Rings. They come in real handy for gods in sky or when soloing NM's for quests.
OK, so DRK strat. i'm 0/1 right now and i realized what i did wrong... gear- full AF, chiv chain. life belt, ammet mantle, sun rings, spike earrings. weapon- vassy
go in, engage but dont attack. I-wing, ABS-VIT
first mistake... macro's didnt work.
macro fail macro fail macro fail
so i do everything by hand swing swing swing weapon bash he bashed me back (for 31 lol) swing guillitine 531 swing i get tp boost from mob, 122 (nice) i drain for 226 ( o.o ) Guillotine for 414 blood weapon (i'm about in the yellow) he gets an attack boost. abs tp (66) guillotine 511 swinging he gets a DEF boost i'm down in the red so i spam my hi pot macros
no good
so i do it manually 2 hi pots, only 200 hp...
and then it happened...
I FKKN DISENGAGED
if i had 2 more hits on him i would have won.
so i mash my stun macro. no good.
timers not up either.
crap.
dead.
its basically a scary cake walk if you don't get the right rolls. good luck and DON'T DISENGAGE!!! note: this guy has terrible delay, i could swing twice before he did once.
Ok i did this last time and got an easy 2k exp so i thought I'd try again...
I ... was ... OWNED! Moblin Fantocciniman only got 3 dice rolls in...
1st ... Chainspell 2nd ... 210 TP -> Spirits Within 3rd ... Chainspell ... the screen shot says it all I think (-.-) winning this ENM is LUCK BASED ONLY, skill plays NO part what-so-ever!
easy enough fight started off by buffing myself to hell and back tried starting the fight fight with silence (didnt know that he doesnt copy job abilites just type, so no spells) used a Rice Dumpling for the fight as my food.
The dice roll constantly came up with TP 100%+ for the Mannequin (Fantoccini) 1 MP+0 for him only dice rolls in my favour were attack bonus, TP+300% and full MP not that i'm complaing about those ^^ had to use convert during the fight managed to aquaviel then stoneskin and preyed he didnt get TP for another WS (stoneskin goes in one hit from WS) WS he used on me were Flat Blade x1 Shining Blade x4 (ish) and Circle Blade x1 (the AoE WS) I managed to get Spirits Within on it twice 2nd time killing it
all in all an easy fight if the dice are on your side.
extra info: i went as RDM62 (capped to 60 in fight) your subjob gets removed for the fight and i dont have a map and i forgot to check the pos for those who wanted that info ^^;
was easy enough, more medicine would have been nice, a yag, 2 hi-p, 1 hi-e, woo! just hope your lucky, i was 20% mpa and 40% hp, got restore all stats for a 300% spirits within on him, woo.
For all of you paladins, I'm sorry to say, he's going to be tough. The problem with paladins is that they are far from damage dealers, so you'll eat up most of the allotted time, so be quick to buff up before engaging the Fantoccini. Here's the equipment I used when engaging him:
And here are the items I brought: Persikos au lait: 5HP per tick for 10 min - 14k on Titan Yagudo drink (x2): 2MP per tick for 3 min (you'll use both) - 2k on Titan Blink band: just to have some shadows when entering - varies Icarus wing: get 100%TP before fight...Vorpal Blade may outdo Spirits Within in this case - 20k on Titan X-potion (x6): you can get more or less...I used all of them - 3.5k on Titan Tavnazian taco: your essential tank food which will reduce damage done to you (among other things) - 35k per stack of 12 on Titan Instant warp scroll: you'll be surprised how hard it is to get out of there, especially if Moblin Topmans pop near the entrance to Mine#2716 in Newton Movalpolos, since they don't move at all and the moblin that can warp you out will be out of reach
Overall this is an expensive fight. Especially to get in, since I've never paid Twinkbrix less than 30k on the rolling part alone (then the extra 2k to warp to the arena).
Put on your Blink Band before doing anything. It requires 30 seconds of equipping it before you can actually use it. When you enter, use your Blink Band, cast Protect and Shell on yourself, use your Icarus Wing, eat your Tavnazian taco, then enter. Engage the Fantoccini right off and use Vorpal Blade on him. Remember to Flash right away and whenever you can. He hits a lot harder than you do, so every hit missed is a good thing. When your health is low enough near the beginning, throw a Cure III on yourself, and after that use both your Persikos au lait and a Yagudo drink. If he starts to cast any spell like Cure or Banish use your Shield Bash...this will interrupt him.
Remember this fight is largely based on luck. There have been a few times where right off the bat he's received a 300% TP roll and Spirits Within'd me which basically took away 95% of my life...very uncool. The rolls will typically go in the Fantoccini's favor, but hang in there. You still have your food and medicines to back you up. If you want to save your MP you can use your X-potions in place of your cures (X-potions heal for 150 HP apiece). If you happen to get your TP up chances are you're going to use Vorpal Blade unless you happen to have a lot of HP and your TP is above 200, when then, of course you'll be using Spirits Within.
When the end is in sight, use your 2-hour. Since Invincible isn't being used for hate here, it's best to use it when he gets down on you on your life and you can use that time to cure yourself, or just use it to wail on him while all physical damage done to you is annulled. Keep in mind that he can use Invincible too...some people tell you to unlock off of him and run away for a bit...I recommend against this, because he can still hit you from far away and eventually you'll have to run back to him and engage him, which gives him yet another couple free shots on you before you have a chance to hit him.
Best of luck to all of you who do this! Really quite an expensive way to get 2,000 experience points, but if you want to do this for the fun of it...go kick some ***!
I very nearly beat the mob as a WHM. I got him down to about 20% health and had about 200 MP left. I had brought a Hi-Ether along in case, and I didn't want to feel like it was wasted.
So I used it. BIG mistake.
The period after using where you can't cast got me killed. I kept futily trying to Cure myself. The mob got a TP roll and smacked me with Seraph Strike. I started spamming my Benediction macro -- oh noes, wrong macro set.
Yeah, same as matt fight for warrior, should be pretty eazy. but u need to use G Axe.
What u need: Sole Suchi Icarus wing opo-op-necklase stack of sleep potions
enter the fight: equip opop-neclase use sleep potions till you have 300 TP use ur sole suchi engage use Berserk kick off mighty strickes smack him down with raging rush use icarus wing smack him again with raging rush
first time: I lost but only because the gob fully healed the doll just when I had it down to a sliver of HP. A mere fluke
second time: Revenge! He hit me with two vorpal blades, a shining blade and a spirits within (thankfully he did the later when he was low HP so it only did 90 damage). I won this by a wide margin and got my sexy perfume ^^
third time: Wanted an exp buffer and I had some spare meds so I took him on a gain. He used protect III at the start which ended up dragging the fight out. He used invincible but no WS's so it wasn't hard, just long.
Bring a few meds and this fight is easy for a paladin. The only things that can go wrong is what happened in the first fight or the doll using spirits within with high HP. (I have a red mage friend who got one-shotted for 900+ damage from spirits with stoneskin up)
i got 2 questions that are sorta related to this. 1: What's an ENM? 2:Who's Maat? Sorry if i sound like a noob, but ya'know, i am. ------------------------------------------------ Cuddlebunny Siren 9Bst Ls:Ominousknights,Dragoon's Nest
I also have tried this as a Thief, i actually had a relatively good experience, although i did fail. I took on the Fantoccini and came in with my Lust Dagger and my Lightning Bow +1 w/ Demon Arrows. My major perspective was to take him on head to head using my arrows more often to take his attack down a notch. Surprisingly, I think i did have the effect fire once, but that was pretty much it. It seems very resistant to any weapon effects. I had got it down to about 50% and then he used Perfect Dodge. So what i did shortly after that was flee around til it wore off. By this time i had downed about 6 Hi-Potions and 2 Pamama au Laits. Shortly after it wore off, i went back to attacking in close + range attacking it. Around 75% of its HP, i was pretty much out of supplies and it was pummeling me with lucky rolls from the Moblin, setting off several WS on me. So I used perfect dodge and after it wore off the Fantoccini finished me off with a Dancing Edge. Although i didn't win, i didn't fail too badly, but to all thf's I can say that the need for an ASSLOAD of Higher level resroratives is a must, but I should think that the ring is well worth the effort although the exp isn't.
You just need the key item in order to do the battle. By the sound of what the moblin told me when I talked to him, you can either gamble for it, or get a sylvan stone drop from Newton.
Basically, BCNMs use seals, ENMs use key items (that may be just as painful to get as seals). :)
No, the moblin controls all 3 ENMs for Mine Shaft #2716. Gambling with him gets you a key item that can be used for either Pulling the Strings or Automaton Assault, and getting him a Sylvan Stone gets you a key item that can be used only for Bionic Bug.
After hearing about this battle I decided I'd try my luck against the so-called mini-Maat. True, as THF the Maat battle is over if you successfully steal something from him, but I've seen videos of THFs taking down Maat using status bolts (Defense Down, Blind, Sleep *disengage* Sneak Attack + Dancing Edge, rinse and repeat). So I went into this BCNM hoping to employ the same strategy and make some quick EXP.
Preparing for the battle I chose to wear primarily evasion gear, as well as two scorpion rings for ranged accuracy.
I had a handful of Hi Potions+1 for instant HP, and two Perkisos for HP regen. Brought along an Icarus Wing for instant TP. Ate squid sushi+1 for accuracy.
To start off the battle I equipped acid bolts at maximum ranged distance and fired at the puppet. The acid bolt missed, at which point the goblin and puppet advance towards me. I fire again and hit him, however 'defense down' did not activate.
I engage my Darksteel Kukri and switch to sleep bolts. I fire repeatedly hoping to sleep him so I can land a sneak attack. I may have hit him 5 times with sleep bolts or bloody bolts (switched to bloody since I was dropping HP fast!) Any ranged attacks that actually hit him, never activated the effects. That is: any sleep bolt that hit did not sleep him to set up for SA, and any bloody bolt that hit did not drain HP. My entire battle strategy relied on these status bolts so I was pretty much screwed.
The puppet hit fast with a low-delay dagger, and practically every five hits he lands a critical hit, or triple-attacks.
Additionally, the Goblin's rolls were terrible, considering the only time that he rolled in my favor was the very beginning of the fight. I regained "270 HP" although I hadn't even lost that much at that early point in the match.
Most rolls gave the puppet a chance to hit me with a weapon skill. He used Cyclone, Wasp Sting, and Viper Bite. I'm downing Potions and HP Regen like they're candy, and I still haven't even brought him to 90% health.
More interestingly, rolls would sometimes give the puppet a chance to steal. The first time he did it, the steal animation occurred, but nothing was written to the log saying what was stolen. He did it twice more before the battle was over.
The second time he stole the Strike Shield right off my hand. The third time he stole my AF pants.
Thinking maybe I could defeat him in the same fashion as Maat, I tried to steal in desperation. It was unsuccessful.
I had under 100hp and downing any more potions seemed pointless since he was still at 90% health or more. I cast Perfect Dodge and Flee'd to exit the Burning Circle.
Once I'm out of the burning circle, pantless and shieldless, I go to my equipment and see that in addition to these two, my Emperor Hairpin was also stolen.
Never before had I been so scared that I may have potentially lost an item forever. I obtained my Emperor Hairpin when it was worth 250k, but since then inflation has brought its price up to almost 1 million on Titan. If the puppet stole items forever like those damn mobs in FF7 who ran away with Tifa's Premium Heart, I was going to cry -- I didn't sign up for that!
Thankfully all three items were in my inventory. If anything is stolen in battle and you run away to the exit, the items are still in your inventory once you're outside. I imagine even if you are killed in the battle, the items are still in your inventory, since I doubt SE wants to purposefully agitate their subscribers.
I imagine that unless someone else discovers a THF strategy that works, I won't be attempting this again. Red Mages have posted here saying the puppet has resisted sleep 100% of the time. If I had to guess, I'd say that the puppet is not sleepable. Status bolts do not work, period. If you've had an experience where a status bolt activated, please post saying so.
And if you have an effective strategy for THF, post that too.
I don't know how effective it would be, as I'm new to this ENM but could you stat the Moblin instead of the Fantoccini? Say sleep the Moblin so it can't roll the Marrionette? I know as nin57 I didn't too too badly, but my Muketsu +1 never activated once. Just a thought.
Wow, that's an interesting read. I was part of a party that was going to do this battle (I didn't, however), and it did include a THF. Unfortunately, she didn't last very long at all, so no real information from her.
I can imagine some serious flames being sent to SE if the Fantoccini's Steal actually stole things from you (unless maybe it took meds from you). One thing I do wonder is if they're no longer available during the battle (stolen, but returned after the battle) or if they're just unequipped, as though he just pulled your pants down and knocked out your pin, and you could put them back on.
If you or another THF go back, it might be interesting to have an equip macro for most of your gear, so you can see if you can get it back (in case he "steals" something you really need, it would be nice to be able to reequip it).
Fought this guy twice as drk. One both times. Got a tactical ring the first time ^^
The 2nd time I was really lucky. We were both down to so little hp that we would both finish the other off in 1 hit, and he was probably going to strike first. But the moblin dice gave me 100tp and I did a Guillotine to finish him quick ^^
I consistently get unlucky with this guy, as both times I've tried, it used Invincible on me three times. I did win the 2nd time thouhg, because at 25% Fantocciniman gave me full hp/mp restore. Got 2k exp and Refresh Musk. Types of rolls are: -TP bonus(100-300%) -Attack Bonus -Defense Bonus -HP Recover -MP Recover -Reset JA timers -2H/JA for Fantoccini -Full HP/MP Recover
Except for the 2H/JA for Fantocinni, all the rolls can affect either person. If it uses 2H as much on everyone as it did me, poor NINs =\
I decided to fight him (no exp loss, kinda fun). AS WHM he used a hammer that was ran through my stoneskin in 2 or 3 hits. BTW, the moblin that rolls dice can help either you OR the puppet. The rolls I saw were an Instant TP gain one, "Attack Bonus," and "Defense Bonus." Not sure of the others.
My weapons are nowhere near capped, so he beat me senseless. My fight lasted about 5 or 6 minutes and I got him down to maybe 75% health. For anyone who has beat it, do you recommend staves or hammers on this NM? I see this guy as a good way to practice for Maat though.
I see this guy as a good way to practice for Maat though.
That's only really true for jobs that have to actually kill Maat. In your case, for example, it's not very helpful. Other jobs it wouldn't help very much would be Paladin, and Thief.
Umm... PLD has to fight Maat too. WHMs can win by healing themselves a lot, and THFs can win by successfully stealing, but everyone else has to fight him. And even THF and WHM *can* win by fighting him. People have done it before. Personally, when I hit 70 I'm going to go in and try to steal, and if it doesn't work, switch to soloing gear and fight him. :P
