General Information

  • Multiple spawn points in the northern regions of Al'Taieu.

  • When not aggroed, they wander around in the air quite a distance above the surface, and when in this state they cannot be targetted with Wide Scan, in the same manner as mobs like Chigoes and Phuabo types (see Ul'phuabo and Om'phuabo).

  • Aggroes to True Sound, and will aggro if anyone runs close to, or directly below them.

  • Has a strong auto-regen effect that cannot be dispelled.

    • The auto-regen effect is stronger when the Om'yovra is over the water.

  • Melee attacks have an additional Paralysis effect.

Om'yovra Special Attacks

  • Fluorescence: Self target Attack boost effect that wears off on the following melee attack or physical tp move. (Effect can be dispelled)

  • Torrential Torment: AoE magic damage with an additional effect of unequipping all gear.

  • Vitriolic Barrage: AoE magic damage with an additional Poison effect. Damage is calculated by dividing 1,000 by however many players and/or pets are hit by it. This means that a Vitriolic Barrage that hits ten targets will do a maximum of 100 damage to them.

  • Concussive Oscillation: AoE damage with additional Gravity and Knockback effects.

  • Primal Drill: AoE physical damage with an additional Bind effect (Circle of effect originates from mob).

  • Ion Shower: AoE magical damage with an additional Stun effect (Circle of effect originates from mob).

  • Asthenic Fog: AoE Water based DoT with an additional Strength down effect.

  • Luminous Drape: AoE Charm effect.

Took an Om'Yorva (yes the Om', Ul' is laughable) down to 5% with 6 people (Nin, brd, rdm, whm, blu, mnk). Was one of the most intense fights of my whm career. Fight took forever (well over 1 hour) and it regained full HP twice due to us having to sleep it to regroup/raise. Eventually people started wiping one by one, and eventually i was only one alive and severly hurt (80hp..), they may stop chasing you after you leave their home area, or else it is really slow b/c i made it to zone and looked back and didnt see it anymore. Hoping to try this again and prove that it is possible to kill Om's with 6 people.

these things are a joke XD
we killed with BRD NIN WHM and BLM, the BLM never went over a tier two nuke either, it's so easy, just know the status effects and keep tank healed and it's pie.

Killed with Rdm Nin Drk Blm... the only trouble we had was when it charmed the Nin, I (the Blm) had to run. Once we got a decent strat down I started taking hits hp down in large chunks -- pretty cake.

Severely resistant to thunder nukes, but succeptible to stun, also apparently immune to paralyze, but extremely succeptible to ice nukes.

Definitely a fun fight, especially when your party is considered to be 'undermanned'.

You are almost certainly refering to Ul'Yovras. Om'Yovras would eat a lone PT in one bite.

These have some really nasty moves including:
  • [*]charmga
    [*]500damage AoE with poisona
[*]A move that strips your character so he's wearing nothing
    [*]a permenant 100+hp/tick regen

  • They can also do around 300 damage per hit to most classes.

Really nasty mobs to fight >.<

So, while hunting Om'phuabo, I had one of these drop down on me.. They sleep easy enough, but they seem resistant to magic and have a ton of HP. After my Sleep, I cast Thunder IV on it. It did about 270 damage. O.o Thunder IV normally hits for about 1050. After that I cast Sleep2 and Warp'ed out... 270 damage, btw, didn't move its HP bar more than a few pixels...

    Oh, you can Aspir these.

Some friends and I were at the FFXI event they held in Southern Cali, and we had a chance to take this thing out. We pulled it to the HP there, then when it inevitably killed us, we HP'd, and since it was right there, we kept on fighting. Ten minutes later and all we got was a lousy light crystal... This thing charms you a lot though, likely a Beastmaster NM.

    Sahaqiel anyone?

(Reminder - Sahaqiel was the floating, tenth angel from NGE that dropped of the sky. The big-eyed one.)

It seems that the recent mobs have been more futuristic and leaving the old "Dungeons and Dragons" theme. Now to this mob...........
IT looks freaking AWESOME! It's like a jelleyfish in the sky. From the looks in the pics it looks HUGE. It looks like it could put a Sea Horror to shame. Good Job SE.

Reminds me of something out of the movie "Abyss". This thing looks really cool, does anybody have any information on this notorious monster? That area where it is looks really cool too. Man, there's so many zones i've never been too. ><

This flies high in the skies, and agros you if you step directly beneath it. Be careful when walking around here. Hits pretty hard.
