Well I got this a long time ago back when I levelled thf, but tossed it after I hit 37 and moved on. However, I started nin up and wanted it again for nin so back I would go. I happened to work during full moon, so I waited a day or two, then new moon was up. I got my Tele-Dem and headed out there as DRK/RNG, spamming WS in his pop area.
Nothing for 5 minutes... 10 minutes.. 15... 20...
Finally I see him on WS and haul *** over to him, and... he's claimed. At a sliver of health, being dragged around the map by some anon guy wearing no gear. So, I do what anyone who gets pissed at someone showing off does.
I sat there and spammed Stun on him.
After like 20 seconds, the guy must have gotten too far away, cause he turned yellow. Stun went off, then he was red. One smack later, and bam dropped, of course. The guy started whining about how he was holding it for a friend, etc.
I told him maybe he shouldn't run away from it then and just tank it if he wanted to keep hate. And also that his friend should have been there camping too if he really needed it. And that I wished them the best of luck tomorrow night, since I wouldn't be back.

A followup: this morning I was running from my Tele-Dem to Valkurm on my lv 10 mnk, getting ready for the fun that is levelling yet another job 10 levels in the dunes.
Well, I was almost to the valkurm zone when I see a monster you don't usually see in konstacht. A shadow. Tab to him... yup, it's him again. What's he doing all the way over here?
Anyways, I told everyone in my linkshell what he dropped and that if any of them wanted him they should get here soon and take it, he doesn't usually stay unclaimed for long (in my previous post, besides the guy who had it claimed and was running around with it there were two other people besides me), so after informing my LS and finding no one needed it I shouted for all in the zone to hear pos.
Unfortunately, while doing this, he decided to come check me out. I ran my *** off to valkurm zone and lived with less than 50 HP, so now he's probably wandering around the zoneline murdering the poor parties that try to zone lizards and gobs from dunes -_-

Ok first of all ive camped this AND its counterpart Haty, for 4, yes 4 characters.. heres my most recent experience.
well me and my fiance are currently lvling BLU, so i figure this thing will be really useful for both of us (thank you update for letting BLU wear chakrams), so i wait til full moon and begin my hunt of Haty..
first of all, all i can say that these 2 NMs are a complete *****!!! the amount of times ive seen these get claimed by just a curious idiot and killed then they say "oh, this is crap" and drop it, well lets just say my stress lvls jumps a few lvls on these NMS >.>
anyay yes Haty, 6 nights in a row, i found it... most of the time just NW of the crag.. ALWAYS just being killed or just killed by a random rng / lvl20ish -.-
finally on the 7th night, im there at 7:25pm vana time, and see it pop on my WS just to the west of the crag, i get it and kill it.. theres my Rogetsurin!
unfortunately that was the last night of full moon.. so i have to wait to get my fiances ; ;
anywayz, i wait 2 days check on mithrapride.org and find its new moon... crap last night aswell ; ;
i logon to my fiances character in aht urghan, get a tele and jump on choco to begin the hunt.. now its getting on towards 7pm vana time so im kinda worried its already popped >.> so i start at the crag and haul my butt west, im chocoing and widescanning at the same time.. and i just get to the bottom part of G-7 when i see it on widescan. its miles away >< popped roughly at the top of G-6 -.- so im hauling butt there... i see it and press ctrl+A (attack) as soon as i do a curious RNG (asshat) pops outta nowhere with daggers drawn luckily i attacked it as i dismouted haha, and claimed it with no voke or anything...
i proceed to kill it.. while the RNG slaps me -.- Rogetsurin is now my fiances too :)
sorry for the length of the story, i hope you enjoyed tho ^^

I was headed to Bastok when I ran into him near the zone to North Gustaberg. I killed him easily as a 16 sam/war with my friend who is a 25 whm/drk lol. I got the drop and now use it when I train nin. ^^

Defeated him as 33THF and only got hit once for 10hp.
I found him just before he crossed from K-6 into J-6 at 21:00 on Darksday, New Moon 2%. Rogetsurin dropped, of course.

Found him New Moon 2% at the southwest corner of the Crag near the hill at the mountain. I one shotted him with my SMN, so other than that >.>;; got drop.

I was running out there as RNG35 to do tactics pearl with friend and saw this shadow near the crag, no one was running for him so i decided to kill him. Was pretty fun because I didnt even want the drop >.> never really expected to kill this nm anyways lol it would seem people would be killing him alot. Right after i killed him someone ran over to where i was with widescan ^^. Oh well :D
Fuond him a long time ago, over in the southern area with the small paths iirc. Now I use Rogetsurin for my NIN :)

Camped out for it since new moon phase started and no luck untill it was 2% new moon dark day found it arround 1am F-8 G-8 (probably spawned a lot more earlier) it was claimed by someones sheep and i was frustrated because i camped Haty 2 days before and no luck at all so i followed it because BST was elswhere. finaly the sheep died and i was happy like a little baby, finally it will be mine :P and i killed it no problem with my 30rdm/8rng lost like 50hp at most . Wide scan really helps. anyway goodluck to all who want this weapon

Tried for 2 nights to find him with no sucess. That was probably because New Moon spreads into Waning Crescent. Anyways 3rd night I found him. I am a 57 rdm and I subbed my 20 rng at the time for Wide Scan.
I had no weapon and only fishing armor on lol. I didn't wanna go back to a mog to get my gear.
So I Wide Scanned and found him at G-8 right up against the mountain. I thought I'd goof around with him for a bit since I was really bored and I did Stoneskin, Phalanx, Blaze Spikes, Enfire, and Refresh. I know I know, not necessary to buff up like that but I was bored.
Since I had no weapon I did hand to hand lol. Since rdm's have no hand to hand skill, it gave me time to eat some food. I finished the fight with Blizzard II for added effect and got the drop, yay ^^.

Curious Question... Does Bendigeit Vran/Haty only pop once per New/Full moon phase? Camping for my nin and thf and missed pop at night to a mnk who killed him out of curiosity... didn't need the weapon. Pop, drop, and thrown away right in front of my eyes ;; I've been here every night of the new moon after that and havent widescanned him once traveling well beyond the pop area on choco. Anyone know if there is a pop window for this NM outside the new moon?

I didn't kill him out of curiousity, though - I had NO clue what he was, and he started attacking me. I had no idea he was a NM... I had about 200HP left, he attacked, I 2hr'd, and JUST beat him with about 40hp left.... I just started playing again yesterday, after a 3-month hiatus, and just plain didn't know... Again, sorry. ><

I've only seen him once so far, I may try to camp him with PT since my NIN friend needs some some gear. I saw him when I went with LVL 15 whm we were just going out there to do one of the Bastok quests, I was set to autofollow since I didn't have the map for Konschat and on the way back I saw it and waved at it thinking it was another player or a NPC, it attacked the WHM and he told me to run. I ran and ran till I made it miraculously to the zone. He told me it two hit killed him. I felt sorry thinking that I had triggered it by waving at it since it didn't move till I did. That was the 2nd NM I had met yet and I didn't understand what had happened. I was a n00b at that time. BTW I was only a lvl 09 war at the time. He was just trying to help me out and he died in the process. :(

Widescan is a RNG and BST ability that alows them to see the position and types of mobs by choosing the option from the map.
I apologize for this post being (probably) in the wrong place, but I noticed that several of you have mentioned using widescan in this thread. Can someone please explain what that is? I've searched for it but can't find what it means. Thanks!
Widescan is an ability that you can only get if you are a RNG or BST (or if you are subbing RNG or BST). To use it you pull up your map and go to Wide Scan, then it will show where certain enemies are in the area.
After a trip to Al Zahbi I decided to check this guy out or maybe Haty, whoever came first. I arrived late and because of the way he spawns I also were doing some adv job quests for my sons character (himself being very busy with school for a week or so) in between.
Anyway, second night, that he could possibly spawn, I am there and start searching. Then I see one of those big rams and think: "Sweet, I'll get some horns and stuff." I run up, provokes, being MNK/WAR, and after a few hits I realise this is one of those ram-NMs involved in a quest. I almost took him with hundred fist, maybe if I had been quicker, and a few WS's, but eventually I end up at my HP. In Jeuno, thank God, not in Whitegate or Nashmau, puh.
This is gonna take a while, I thought, got my son 3 new jobs and between one of those quests, waiting for a game-day to pass, I see once again that it is new moon.
I switch account and log in. I'm next too the chocoboo-guy so I hop up on a chocoboo, turn around to start running around and there he is standing next to me: Mr Bendigeit Vran. Nice.
Now I can continue with NIN, and drop the boomerang I had before.

I would like to thank Mr. Vran to be out when I was randomly in Konschtat Highlands as a WHM41/BLM20 last night. I would, however, also like to apologize to Mr. Vran for such a lopsided victory through my use of banish, banish 2, banishga, and banishga 2 which led to me outdamaging him ~950 to 8. Further, I feel terrible for pilfering his rogetsurin, which will see considerable use when I lvl THF from 4 or NIN from 0. I do hope you accept my apologies Mr. Vran
Spawned at J-6. I saw him on RNG-dar at 19:30 so it's possible he spawned slightly before then.

Just unlocked Ranger and I was going to go try my luck with BOunding boots. So I'm chocoboing through the highlands as a 20war/1rng and I decide to mess with widescan a bit and this guy pops up. Had no idea who he was but I got off and took him out. He brought me down to 27hp but I won the fight and got the drop!

Found at H-6 around 19:00 ingame time during a New Moon. Killed in 7 swings of Greataxe as WAR43/RNG1.

Yea, I saw him today right as a got a Tele from windurst. I had my Lvl 12 War on so I had no chance of beating him. Luckly I followed him(suprsingly no one claimed) and had some of my LS buddies come out here and beat him to death. Got the drop and I was happy. Plus got my rare/ex katana too(chocoboleech in Dangruf Wadi) ^^ before I went to the dunes.

Ok ive wanted this for my NIN for a while now...I was weird and refused to lvl without it xD. So after maybe 2 weeks of missing the new and full moon I finally notice it a new moon. I shout for a tele fun there wait till night. Widescan bam there he is north of the Stray Mary spawn ^^. Easy fight as a 60 thf. But got it and now Im happy xD! At 15 my NIN will be pimpin with this and the Chocoboleech drop ^^

randomly checked /clock on my way to mining, and i see a 2% new moon.
Think "ooo i need that throwing thingy for my ninja" so i go bck to jeuno, sub rng and get on choco, found him at G-11 at about midnight game time.
Damn nice weapon for early nin ^^
