Took this guy on today w/ my 69pld/war. Was 1 for 2 on the cuffs. Very easy fight, even tho Virus is annoying.

An LS friend of mine, Wraith, asked if anyone wanted free mage gear. He was headed to take on this Shroom NM and wanted company. He was high level, late 50s, maybe even low 60s, and I came as a 38 DRK/THF. I basically sat and watched him take it first fight, but he said it was way easy, so I joined in the fight. We fought it maybe 4 times total and got 2 drops from it. I was even able to skill up my GS. Not bad, not bad at all.
easy

1/1 on Mycophile. Easy fight for 51 RDM/BLM. The hardest part was obtaining the mushrooms. Killed Shriekers for hours and ended up with a stack of Woozyshrooms and Sleepshrooms but not a single Danceshroom (wonder if they actually drop). I gave up and warped to Jeuno to buy the Danceshroom then went back for the kill.

1/1, Found out about these while in party. After party ended spent 5K buying 1 of each mushroom. Chocobo out there, pop, dead in 2 mins (75 rdm, just nuked it to death) got drop, warped, /seek party again. lol

Vary nice for blm, wish I got them sooner (45 now), Something to be thrown once I got AF hands I guess.
Tough Fight as WAR 30 + WHM 44
# Nov 28 2005 at 12:08 AM Rating: Decent
This was a tough fight. I was WAR 30/THF 15 (TH1), my LS partner was WHM in his early 40s, 44 if I recall correctly.

He got hate very early, and kept it pretty much the whole battle. Virus was cast at least once by the NM, possibly twice. He cleared it with Viruna and hammered on it with nukes while I stood behind it swinging my great axe (and missing embarassingly often) and using sneak attack as often as I could (which always hit, praise be to Square).

This went on quite some time until he ran out of MP! He used some kind of juice, but that never recovers enough fast enough, and with the NM at about 20% I really thought we were doomed.

A timely Benediction, however, saved us. With the WHM already having much hate, it made no difference in who was taking the majority of the damage.

Eventually we did manage to kill it, ending the battle with him at about 20% HP and MP left, and got the cuffs on the first drop! I was pretty glad, as there was no way we were going to risk trying it again with just the two of us! (I did offer to try to get him a set too, but he declined, happy with what he had. Forgot to ask what that was, though.)

Thanks Kaileth!

Haven't tried them in battle myself yet... With the Zealot's Mitts, I was casting Cure II for 90 HP and Cure III for 176. I think I'll be okay with the lower MND bonus, but I also wasn't drawing hate very much and my tanks have been perfectly capable of handling it when I did. When I leveled, I upgraded to Devotee's mitts, so I do have both. I'll try to remember to come back and add to this post and add some detail about how it all works out for me.
The luck goddess shuns me
# Nov 20 2005 at 4:46 PM Rating: Decent
Okay, was in Jeuno and bought a full Seer's +1 set.. but wait.. no Mitts?! Well, I refuse to wear a partial suit.. so I shout.
The most amazingly nice WhM I have EVER met shouts that Mycophile Cuffs are better.. she explains they are an NM drop in Carpenter's Landing.
I explain I am a pretty weak 31rdm/15blm(or whm) and doubt I could dent any NM that drops something so nice.. she then offers to take me there and kill it for me until we get the drop >< Mind you, at the time I am a 15thf/5rng (only subbed for wide scan farming in W.Saru for Silk.. stop laughing) so I buy the Sleep/Danceshrooms for about 22k total >< but no Woozy! >< oh dear.. she says no prob we will farm on the way. She brings a high level BlM (I htink 74-75 but not positive) and she was 55 I believe with some AF. We get there, I even kill a few Tigers ^.^ (15/5 gimp eh?) while she smacked em too.. got inside CL and got to spot, but still no Woozy! They go to farm and tell me to stay put. I sit for a while, then all of the sudden BAM! monitor fritz' and shuts off.. won't turn on! >< oh god.. so rather than be intelligent and RATIONAL (just type "monitor broke, brb!") I bolt to my car, go to 24/7 Electronics and buy a new one (ouch paycheck) same brand so never even had to turn off PC.. and I am in Windy (warped not death) and they both gone.. have not seen them =( So I'm 0/0 on this.. and thinking my TH woulda helped.. now I gotta try with a PT and my RdM so no TH =(

*edit*
Went back in as 37Rdm/18BlM with one of the loveliest WhM's ever.. level 55+ (same as before)
So we get in, and can't get Woozyshroom, so she Warps to Jeuno.. I drop a few EP beetles (Stoneskin lasts long sometimes!) Then stop, sneak up and wait. Well seems I cast Sneak or something too close to one, cause it aggrod me.. w/e no problem.. till two others joined.. so I ran.. ended up with like 10 beetles 5 shriekers.. very dead kitty. She R2'd me and we rested up.. got back in room, popped him, he had no chance.. ^^ but no drop =(
so we /sit and wait a little bit.. (obviously the repop timer is based on when he spawns, not dies) and kill him again... drop! Glee! <3 kitty WhM.. you know who you are! ^^

Lucky..
# Nov 11 2005 at 2:32 PM Rating: Decent
Lucky I'm guessing, but I just got the drop 1/1,as a 63 DRG/THF. I'm going to use the gloves when I level my WHM sub. I actually forgot to bring a woozyshroom, so I ended up having to fight shriekers for one. Apparently, its a rarer drop because I had cleared all the shriekers inside the caves and also outside and only then, finally got one. This was also after getting a half stack of sleep shrooms from them >< So keep that in mind if you plan on just buying the danceshrooms and farming the sleepshrooms and woozyshrooms off the shriekers while you wait for re-spawn. The actual battle was very easy, as he only got one hit off. He did try to cast Virus fairly quickly after engaging him, but my wyvern interrupted his casting. I then spammed my weapon skill (which I had ready at 300% before battle) and my wyvern finished him off with a quick smack after he finished his flame breath. Anyways, good luck!

Went as a 51blm/whm and my ls friend 51whm/blm. Went 2/2 on the drop. Excellant piece of equip.

Fought this 9 times as 52 WHM/RDM and only had trouble with it the first time because I had no food. You can easily kill this as 52 WHM if you are prepared. I used 1-2 Yag drinks per fight and a couple Tav tacos, but the Tacos wern't really necessary. Myco casts Bio, Poison, and Virus so have Viruna, Poisona, and Erase handy. Myco was apparently a 100% drop before the latest patch, but is now in about the 20-30% range. This is based on my experience and my LS friends experiences. It took me 9 kills to get the cuffs, but it took everyone else between 1-5 kills (post patch) so I may have just been unlucky. TH may have been the difference.

I brought 1 stack of each mushroom and, like i said, ended up using 9 of each. The Screamers in the surrounding halls don't get close enough to link with Myco, but they do drop sleepshrooms and woozyshrooms, so if you are running low on those you can always walk into the hall and farm more!

Spawn time is 15 mins and it is a forced spawn. Trade 1 sleepshroom, 1 danceshroom, and 1 woozyshroom to the ??? (I-11 I think) on the big mushroom and Myco will pop claimed. If you dont get the drop, use the 15 min window to build up TP on the beetles in the room (careful they link!) or Screamers outside. Good luck!

This thing casts Virus, which I assume just inflicts you with the status "Virus", though I can't say for sure, because I killed it before it was able to finish casting.

So, yeah if you aren't high-level or have a high-level killing it for you, you may want to bring along a WHM for Viruna.

yes, it does cast virus, which does indeed inflict virus (crazy that).

The virus it uses is no match for regen, but it and refresh are exact same power.

1/3 on this. use gloves all the time for my blm.

2/2 on this. First time 60pld and 52 whm easily killed it. I was surprised he managed to land a status effect on the pld..virus? i think it was or something similiar. But other than that there was no problem. Second time was as 52 whm, 45 thf, and 33 whm.

Soloed it with my 59 NIN, too easy, it was down to 30% before it dropped my Ni shadows.
Way too easy

As a 62SMN I didn't even break a sweat on this.

As a precaution on my first run I buffed up completely. Had carby out, used Meteorite. No drop.

Second run, no buffs, no meteorite...I didn't even engage it...I just let carby have at it. No drop.

Third run, exact same...got the drop.
This NM sucked

6 times in a row I killed this NM as 75 Warrior/37 Ninja. He didn't touch me once (and it was fun trying to beat my Rampage record on him, 1813 was the highest :) ), he also didn't drop the stupid gloves.

I warped back to Jeuno cuz I ran out of Danceshrooms, and switched to War/Thf. Let's just say I only needed 1 of the stack of mushrooms I bought for Round 2.

At least my blm will have nice gloves.

I was 0/6 as a SMN50/WHM25. I was wondering if there was something I was doing wrong, so I tried something... I traded the mushrooms in alphabetical order in the trade window O.O I have no idea if it did anything or if i'm just lucky, but I got the drop the first time i did that. Just thought I'd share. If this was coincidence, my drop rate was 1/7. Good luck ^^

well i just beat the mycophile for the third time and got my gloves, what i thought was weird was that when i did trade in the alphabeticle order i got the gloves, but it may just be chance and superstition...but i see no reason not to trade them in that order if it actually matters... :D anyways own that funguar!
Wasn't too bad.

Killed him tonight. Picked up a whole bunch of mushrooms, since it seemed drop rate was 1/4. Buffed up, ate food, rested to full, sang double minuet and popped him.

I took him out easily, he barely touched me. I was very surprised to see him drop the cuffs on the first kill! Strolled back to Jeuno to sell the rest of my mushrooms and break out my whm once again. ^^

Killed this thing 4 times tonight with a PLD friend of mine and got the drop! With both of us at lv 37, it gave us 30-40 exp each time, which puts it on the low end of T to us. I'd say it's about lv 40, and certainly not more than that.

If you are both at level 37, 30-40 exp would put it as a Decent Challenge.

In a duo T starts at 84, and goes up. EM is 70, Decent is 35-50.

We slapped a few of these around with a whm 46 and a blm 52, both taru. Not the perfect duo combination, but very doable without too high risks.
