This NM is a complete waste of time... I cant believe ANYONE wastes their time with this garbage!! With the recent 2 hand weapon buff, 1 dex = 1 acc. SInce this has dex -2 on it, thats acc -2, so already that "acc +5" has now become acc +3 instead. Dex also affects critical hitrate, so expect less critical hits as well! Ok, so, now we have a pair of pants thats STR+2, acc +3, Vit+2, R.Acc+5 and -2 to all other stats. Ok, if you want ranged acc or attack, get dusk trousers - all the same jobs can wear them. they have R.Acc +10 and atk +14!!! Also, they are far easier to get than this garbage! I coudl farm the 800K needed for dusk trousers on my server WAY before i could get a skilled alliance of 18 people for a CHANCE at killing this thing, as well as getting the pop item. In any case, if you think 2 str and 2 vit help steel cyclone more than +14 attack does, then I think you're out of your mind, especially if fighting VT or higher! People WAY overvalue the bonuses of stat mods, and if you think that +2 str or vit matters when you already have 100+, then you really need to do some research on how much that "+2" really affects your dmg (FACT! mathematically +2 on any stat that is already 100 is a 2% increase of that stat).

This NM is not a waste of time. Heres why: Cannonball! You say dusk is better. Well, +attack does nothing for cannonball. Defense, Vit, and Str work for cannonball. These pants are ideal for that. Would I melee in these? No way. For 2 handers, you have a point....a very good one. But saying this NM is garbage is ridiculous.

My Ls hit this up for an event this past week. Ultimately this battle boils down to endurance and luck. As mentioned, if he buffs up endlessly, where we've encountered two fights like this, he will almost literally be impossible to defeat. Luck comes down to whether he will debuff or not.

So we fight this guy about 7 times. First, you don't need an alliance of blms, second, you don't need to fight on the bridge, or in the tunnel. We only had two blms, and we fought about 40 steps from the ???, that's right, we were nearly right next to the ???, but not at the spawn site.

Mobs will not link, they will not aggro so long as your blms do not Ga. Even if they do, these mobs are relatively weak that any alliance can work around them. We fought near the ???, eliminating Kurrea's travel time. The LONGER he has to run and the longer the alliance is idle, the more HP he recovers from his autoregen.

The key is of course damage. You can hit him hard and fast before he buffs endlessly, or just consistantly and hope his def buffs don't continue to stack. More often then not, he will get a green face debuff within a reasonable time. Other times, the more rare occations he will not. These are the Kurreas you have to consider zoning, cause you literally are just wasting time. Know which battles to fight, and one's to take flight depending on your setup, and how the battle is progressing.

Our first 4 runs with 18 members we knocked him around like he was a rag doll. Our 5th run he buffed endlessly and never debuffed, and showered the entire alliance with 2-3 Ga's in a row. Added to this he hit consistant HP restore buffs after running back, taking him straight to 100% HP at one point, with a huge buff base. We zoned this one.

Our 6th and 7th, members had to leave due to how late it was, so we were down to 12 members from 18 or so, jobs which consisted of just barely enough, if questionable damage. Our 7th Kurrea, due to lack of damage, we again saw another non-stop buffed Kurrea, where he would never debuff and would always recover HP at ???. This is when you know to fold it up for the night.

Kurrea isn't all that difficult. However with the wrong setup, lack of members, and a bit of bad luck with buffs, he can be extremely difficult. Be sure to bring a few extra soups, as you never know when a round of bad luck will come your way. If he buffs way to much and you lack to proper damage, zoning is really the only answer.

My LS can do this quite competently without relying too heavily on BLMs. This doesn't have to be a manaburn NM. We camp in the tunnel like others have suggested, but we go light on damage until its face turns green, at which point we put our backs into it, so to speak. All of his buffs drop and he loses his regen. It usually takes Kurrea 4-5 trips before he dies after his face turns green. Boom, bam, all done.
Yeah....

This thing is hard.

My LS tried it tonight, we had a good number of people attend. 5+ BLMs in the party at all times, two NINs, two PLDs, two WARs, a few RNGs, and other assorted melee.. And we got our tails handed to us most of the time. We went 2/5 by the end of the night.

At the very beginning we tried this tunnel strategy. I popped it as my DRG, hit Flee, and ran it back to the group. As soon as it got there, the NIN voked, I said "Ok, here comes Darkness!" and as soon as the words left my lips, he ran back. Okay, so we waited for it to come back. I shouted again, and before the SC partners could go, he ran back. He most certainly did NOT stay at camp for 25 seconds. He couldn't even have gotten off a single move if he wanted to before he ran back.

So we moved out some. He stayed a bit longer, then ran back. Eventually we wound up against his spawn, and that's where we fought him for the rest of the night, and our success was determined by our luck. The two runs that we beat him, he didn't heal himself very much.

Part of the problem with this thing, though, is that if you fight it near the ??? then you're going to face a lot of hate issues, even if you do land your Trick Attacks and whatnot. Kurrea dishes out a lot of damage no matter what your tanks are, and with each of your BLMs bursting for well over 1k damage when they don't get nearly completely resisted, they tend to drop fast.

Good luck.
Loads of fun

Did this the other night and we went 7/7 no wipes. Set up camp across meadow in tunnel like posted eailier, this gives time for any mishaps. He can and does use some nasty AOE which several times killed or took 80% of our alliances HP in one shot. Set up Blm and tank party only to be swapped out cuz of death. Have a melee party which swaps members after they weapond skill for a s/c with a mb (this is important cuz you need to inflict MAJOR damage FAST). He will only spend maybe 20-25 secs.....yes secs at camp then runs back to ??? all the while reigning. It is a must to pull with thf or /thf for flee. Tried to pull with bst...that was funny. Bst and pet died 5 steps from spawn point. 15-20 min battles each time. I have never seen these on any player on my server......other than my linkshell. I'm sure there out there but not to many, Kurrea was to me a lot more fun than fighting Kirin. We straight up tanked him each time he returned to camp, i couldnt imagine kiting him, he leaves to quick to inflict serious damage.

THF should pull. You don't need Voke, he spawns claimed and maintains hate on whoever pulls. If he spawns and Gravigas, NIN is boned. THF just pops Flee. If he Silencegas, NIN has to hope that it doesn't Fast Cast a Tornado to drop him before he gets to camp (Which happened to me). THF just pops Flee.

Anyway, very easy battle after you get the hang of it. The time I ate a Tornado on the pull, he died before weakness wore.

Last night my LS did a Gallard run. First time we just poped hoping just to beat it down quickly with SC, bursts, etc... Almost going in blind, we wiped, trying to kite him around to get back up, whiched wiped us even more. We had just blew up Shen with out problems, because my LS is a BLM LS. After afew trys we came up with a easy plan. Which ended up being a very good idea.

To have!
Take all your melee and mages to the tunnel leading to the Tree-type mobs. Camp at the tip of the tunnel
(He has to ran back every 20-30secs for a buff, being this far away keeps him away enough for mages to get MP up, and melee to get TP off lower mobs)Melee camp behind the Mages.

Give your soup to the NIN that will voke everytime Kurrea comes back from drinking. Have the NIN pop Kurrea, and run him to the camp.

Have Melee SC partners (we had 2 partners that took turns everytime he camp back to camp, SAM DRK and again SAM DRK.)

Have a Good amount of BLMs ready to MB, and "Flush nuke"(Flush Nuke is when the melee dont have TP to SC, so they nuke w/o the SC)

Only 1 or 2 tanks are needed, just for voking when he runs back, 3-4 WHMs are nice for getting the BLMs back up if Kurrea stays at camp too long. Yes, Taru BLM's will be poped with 2 sec. tornados.

Have someone with a "AGA" run like a bat outta hell macro. His Aeroaga's do hurt, just like Kirins. If he does Aeroga, EVERYONE RUN.

SMN's for Stoneskin in the BLM PT are nice, so they dont get 1 shotted.

BIGGEST PART!! ALL MAGES HAVE ECHO DROPS!!!

Ok! Heres the rundown of the fight.

ok, So your NIN has the pop items, the party's are at the camp. You Melee has TP, Partner's for WSs, and a order for the SC's.

NIN pops!!

NIN runs to camp. (Kurrea will keep up with the NIN, he IS fast) make sure to pull to the back where the melee are.

1st Melee SC group hits it with a SC. Forget your TA on your macro, you dont have time. Get the SC off FAST. Mages should already be casting.
By the time Thundaga III gets off, Kurrea should be heading back with a chunck of HP taken.

Melee group one runs to fight lower mobs for TP, while SC group 2 gets rdy for thier turn. Mages heal as soon as spells are off, WHMs heal and get poeple up if they are dead.

Kurrea just got his drink/buff and is heading back for whoever had hate last.

Kurrea arives at camp, SC is done, MB's are go off, kurrea heads back to his ??? for buffs again.(by this time he was at 1/2HP for my LS)

Melee group one should have TP, if not, remember one of the melee shout of "FLUSH NUKE." BLMs should just nuke w/o SC. BLM's heal again. WHM's cure/raise again. SC group get TP. other SC group gets rdy.

Keep going with this tatic til he dies.

Questions!!
Meny questions arise with my tatic.

What if he magic buffs?
It wont bring your spells down to 0, and MBing will help.

What if he gets too much magic resist.
Remember, He will have all of his buffs droped once a fight. (Kurrea's face turns green)

Is there still a chance of a wipe? It is luck isnt it?
Yes, pure luck, there is still a chance luck will kill you, He may Aeroaga everytime he comes back, but chances are low.

What about his Auto-Regen? Wont it come into play?
Yes, but you arnt far enough away that his HP will rise too much. Remember your taking chunchs out of his HP, you must surpass his auto-regen with your BLM's spells.

What is Kurrea weak to? What spells?
From what my BLMs told me in my LS, he is weak to differnt things throughout the battle, they mostly used Thundaga III though.

If you have anymore questions, just /tell me if your on Bismarck. I R Reece.

YesYes, I know, I cant spell, and my gramer is horrible.

Also, if your on Bismarck, and needs Rostum Pumps, DM, or a WHM huaby, just tell Dburton, remember runs are less in groups.

Take Care
Reece

u dont pull the mob as a regular NM, u pop it

so if thf/nin pops, it will only hate the thf until the NM reaches camp, therefore, thf doesnt need voke, and can pull better than nin.

BTW thf/nin with 300% TP spirit within in melee pt with as much HP gear u can get, ftw. go thf's

Did this with linkshell tonight.. heres the info I gathered...
Drop rate is 100%
Need to kill this ASAP.. you want it to get as little buffs as possible as they all stack unless its "face turns green" and it debuffs. It does a defense boost without drinking from the soup which can be dispelled. Its best to fight this right at the shed so that you can see each buff and do as much dmg in as little time as possible. It will only do "face turns green" and dispel its buffs ONCE per fight.. if you cant kill it quickly after that you probably wont win. I recommend bringing a couple soups because of this, and tell everyone to teleport out if you cant win after it dispels. If its already dispelled itself it will just keep putting up stronger and stronger phys dmg- magic dmg- and cure V itself over and over. One buff is also a strong regen but I couldnt figure out which one it was. Also after it drinks from the soup it will be immune to ranged attack for a short time. Cannot be stunned, casts aeroga III, Aero IV, Silencega, Graviga, Instant-cast Tornado. Seems to be weakest to Ice

Little info on this guy. 100% drop, pop him at g-8 by the shed in the meadows. Melee should bring tp wings and get 300tp before fight makes it go much smoother. Nin should tank because he fast cast tornado and spams other high tier wind spells. When he goes back to drink he heavily buffs himself with beserk, immune to physical damage, immune to magic damage, and can cure a lot of hp.

We killed it once and got the drop. Haven't gotten to do any further droprate tests, yet.

Kurrea will run back to the ??? where it was popped every ~30 seconds or so, to get a buff for itself. Buffs range from physical immunity over magical immunity and ranged immunity to 25% HP heal, Attack Boost without noticable Defense decrease, and probably more I forgot.

He casts Aeroga III, Aero IV, Tornado and is not stunable. Has awfully fast attack speed.

we tried this NM today you pop it by trading adamantoise soup to ??? in lufaise meadows near where the Megabulord spawns. we triied kting this at 1st that didnt work at we could have done this for days after awhile we were not doign much damage to it at all. then we triied tanking it starght up. we had much better luck with this. my suggestion is to have mages have their echo drops as this spams silencga gravity and aeroga 3. over time its spells will strethen and also it gains more resistance to magic raa etc. you really have to try and kill it within 5-10 mins.
paladins can not tank this at all it hits sometimes for over 500+ it has instant cast tornado which will 1 shot you. one of our paladins too 4100+ damage on it.
i suggest multiple nin tanks to tank it straight up and have alot of black mages to do magic burst to kill it fast.
O.o

/shocked, who's that sexy galka?!

Kurrea can go back to his shed it seems whenever he wants and get misc. special buffs. These range from immunities(magical, physical, ranged), to getting about 25-33% OF HIS hp back. He also LOVES to cast a fast cast Tornado, Graviga, Aeroga~ III or IV (I forget), and some other things. It was about 2-3 weeks ago when I watched an LS on Asura take this mob, so my info may be a little bit off, but don't underestimate this HNM.
