General Information

Kreutzet's Spawn Location
Kreutzet's Spawn Location

    • Kreutzet's window opens 9 hours after its last ToD and has a chance to spawn during any wind weather until 12 hours after its last ToD. If it has not spawned after 12 hours, it will spawn during the next wind weather.

    • If left unclaimed, Kreutzet will despawn once the windy weather in the area dissipates, though it will count as if it was killed, thus its respawn timer will be reset.

Kreutzet Special Attacks

  • Gliding Spike: Single target physical damage with additional Knockback and Stun effects.

  • Feather Barrier: Self target Evasion boost (Effect can be dispelled).

  • Scratch: Single target physical damage with an additional Blindness effect.

  • Stormwind: AoE Wind based magic damage (Circle of effect originates from mob).

    • Kreutzet will perform Stormwind three times in a row, with each successive Stormwind being stronger than the last.

  • Triple Attack: Single target three-hit physical damage.

Historical Information

In Persian mythology, the Kreutzet was a giant bird similar to the Roc (see Roc).

How can you have both capped?
??

unfortunately evasion merits cap at +8 skill ; ; leaves a whole bunch of other combat skills merits for offensive skills which have higher cap. so in that sense i have both capped too. of course mine are kinda spread out due to the jobs i play, i have 3 katana 2 dagger 3 marksmanship 4 evasion. so total of 12 merits, u could do full cap on both evasion and marksmanship np.

theres no way a thf/nin can solo this thing, that a lie, i killed it with 2 whm as a thf75/nin37 uber equip, evasion merits capped also marksmanship merits capped, and 1 whm died twice, u cant solo cause thf marksmanship even with full merits its no match for NM's evasion, and NM has triple attack on TP moves, everytime it gets TP it will do TP attack 3 times, its accuracy also very high, even fighting with 2 whm u gotta fight close to cape teriggan zone, so whm zone if they get too much hate (which they will). i saw a thf kill it with a rdm and a brd also, but no way this thing was soloed
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 15 2005 at 4:02 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) First off anyone saying they can solo this is full of ****. Lies. u can't solo this cuz this guy Spames Aoe alot. his Acc sucks but he dose alot i mean alot of Aoe. and if u dont beat him u might wanna detor over to Vally of the Sorrows Becuze Aspidochelone will spawn in his place over there if u fale to kill him. this 2 Hnm are linked to each other.

Wrong... Aspidochelone is on a 3-8 day loterry of Adamantoise who is a 21-24 hour pop NM. These NMs are in NO way linked to eachother.

I have quite a bit of experience camping Kreutzet that I'll share now that I finally got my dagger. I have seen him die/depop a total of eight times, three of which were at my hands. Some people get lucky, and that's great, but I had a very had time, which is good for you because now I have plenty to share about this NM.

Where?:
Cape Terrigan I8

The square area just before the tunnel you take to get to the part Valley of Sorrows where you camp Aspi.

Spawn Conditions:
Kreutzet's window opens 9 hours from the previous Time of Death or Depop Time. His window does NOT have a specific end time. (you'll see...)

It may be possible that the window is shorter, but in all the time I've spent camping him, the shortest respawn has been 9 hours.

When Kruetzet's window is open, he has a chance to spawn when there is Wind weather. He will NOT necessarily spawn on the first wind weather in his window, and he will NOT necessarily spawn immediately when the wind appears, so stay vigilent the entire time it is windy. Kreutzet does NOT need double wind(gale), to spawn. He will despawn the second wind weather disappears, so claim him fast, and keep him claimed!

You can find yourself waiting many Vana-days (rl hours) just for windy weather to show up. There is a npc in Rabao who can give you a three day forecast in Cape Terrigan, but he is only good for guaranteeing wind weather. If he tells you it will be Sunny, there is still a chance wind weather will show up.

Just start camping 9 hours after the previous death or despawn and pay attention to the weather.

Taking Him Down
You cannot solo Kreutzet, although it might be possible for an experienced Rdm/nin. The best I could do was hold him for about 5-10 minutes. If you try to hold him, do not give him tp, just recast Utsusemi.

It is possible to duo Kreutzet, but it is very dangerous as the fight can turn ugly very quickly. Being a Thief myself, I'd say it is possible to duo with a Rdm, Whm, Blm, Smm, or Brd... a caster of some sort. If you do attempt to duo, fight him near the zone so that your partner can zone hate if needed. We all know how great Thiefs are at holding hate eh? However, I'd recommend waiting for more help if you claim him with just two people. You should be able to hold him indefinitely if you don't melee him.

If you have 3+ people(including a caster), you shouldn't have much trouble taking him down. However, the more help you have the better, so don't hesitate to call more people to help you once you get the claim.

What to Watch For
Stormwind x3 (aoe)
Kreutzet only really has one potentially devastating attack(s). This attack is basically a move called Stormwind... three times in a row. (I've seen people call him a Samurai because of this move, but for him, this move doesn't involve using a 2hr and he can do it several times in one battle.) Each Stormwind will remove any shadows you have up. So when you see him start this move, do not recast Utsusemi until it's over. If you put up your shadows before the last Stormwind, you'll just lost them again. Just wait til it's over, recast your shadows and do your best to recover.

Each Stormwind will do aoe damage anywhere between 150-350. The range of this attack is pretty large. Have your mage(s) stand as far away as possible. If you fight smart, this should be the only damage you take.

Triple Attack
This attack looks like a single attack, but it will take out three shadows. Watch for it, or you could find yourself taking damage sooner than you expected.

Those are the only tp attacks of note, he uses a couple others that simply take out one shadow.

Tips
It is possible you will have links when you pull him. The other mobs in the area are Cockatrices and Manticores. If you are a Thief, use your abilities to your advantage. You can train any Cockatrice links out of the tunnel and use Hide to shed hate. Just make sure someone else in the party has Kreutzet hate. If you link a Manticore, you're screwed unless you have plenty of help.

The Sirocco Kukri is NOT a 100% drop. It took three kills for me to finally get it. I wish you all the best luck, but prepare for the worst.

I think that's just about everything I have, I'll add more if necessary. I hope this helped.

I was lucky, i was skilling up evasion on sand *****, when he popped. there was a 75nin/whm JP there ready for it. he fought it for about a half an hour, and i was watching this awesome ninja go at it. he got it down to 1%hp, and wiped. So me, having seen this thing spawn and despawn from my days of skilling up evasion, i knew it would disapear in a few seconds if it went unclaimed, so i shot it with a bolt, hit it for a minute or 2, and took it down, got drop. It was hard to share my condolences with the JP that fought so hard for it, but there was nothing else he could do. I thought i would never get this thing. thanks to Axler of Cerberus who did all the work. Info on the NM: It will use Stormwind, which eats shadows, 3 times in a row, in intervals of 3 minutes. otherwise he does normal giant bird attacks such as triple attack and feather shield, etc. just has a lot of freakin HP. at 1%hp (i have windower, it tells me hp percentage) i had to deal about 100-150 dmg to take it down, so about 10k-15k hp. also had an attack (that i fail to remember the name) that ignored shadows and delt about 100-150 dmg, nothing too serious. the main problem with this NM is spawn time, its hard to guess, ive seen it spawn at 12 hours, 14 hours, and 20 hours. just have watch the weatherman in rabao for wind. Outpost warp is handy for this NM if you see him, you can get a crew there in the few minutes that he stays spawned. He will despawn once claim is lost, or wind weather is gone (if he is not engaged) which is usually 3-4 game hours in cape. hope this helps any, and happy hunting!

Killed this last week with 75 NIN, 75 WHM, 75 THF, 75 DRK (me).

Spawn conditions are must be wind element. There are no placeholders so there is no need to kill the surrounding mobs. After about 2 hours of camping, wind element came up and Kreutzet popped almost on top of us.

Nin tanked while thf and myself went to work. Whm stayed far back and cast Baraera on the party. It has fairly low evasion for a greater bird, but a fair amount of HP. whenever it gets tp it spams stormwind. It will cast 3-5 stormwind in succession. Once Kreutzet started casting his first stormwind, I would stun, then the thf and myself would disengage and run out of AOE range until it stopped spamming. All in all a very easy fight if your prepared. Just have melee run out of range of aoe until its done, then come back and fight and you will have no problem.

Drops were just the kukri. it gave about 30ish exp so i would guess the NM level to be 75-77. And yes, the wind damage effect on the dagger kicks in 100% of the time.

From what I'm hearing from all other accounts he'll spam 3 AoEs in a row occasionally. They didn't say the precise name of the ability, but if it's a giant bird, I'm guessing they mean the front cone shaped AoE one, Stormwind.

the question is to those who killed this bird, is it a guaranteed drop? I'm guessing it would make sense. and it only appears during gales? i thought it was only during windsdays.

According to Somepage, his respawn cycle is between 9 and 12 hours. He can also despawn if not claimed before wind weather ends. His spawn area is around I-8. Good luck to all the THFs after this kickass dagger! :)
