as /WAR, nevertheless!

Went in with a lvl 69 Soothing Healer NPC who did next to nothing but Blinda and Paralyzna me throughout the fight since the NM hit me 3 times for a combined total of 218 damage using the TP gear listed in the sig and S+TE.

Melee'd him down to about 60%, got bored, and decided to {Sekkanoki} -> Y -> G -> {Meikyo Shisui } -> K -> {Meditate} Y -> G -> K for solo Light x2 and one toasty puppy. No drop, but an easy, easy fight.

Edit:Buffed with a Couerl Sub.

Relatively easy for a 75 SMN to solo this. Started off with a couple Predator Claws and then switched to Carby kiting after that. There is no blood aggro at 75 in here so even if he gets a few shots in on you while between Carby's it's not dangerous.
As other posters have said, he spams Drain alot when he's under 20% making the fight take alot longer. I just summoned Garuda at the end and finished him off with a pair of Predator Claws again.

Been camping this guy for a few days off and on now, anyone know for sure how long it can take for this guy to pop? I did finally get it to pop, no drop of course with my crappy luck, but seems like sometimes i'm in here forever killing the ph's, with no pop..... one day, was in here for at least 4hrs killing ph's, and nothing... just curious of the longest possible time i might be waiting b4 this guy pops

75 Pld/War
60 Drg/Whm
64 Brd/Whm

Paladin tanked, Dragoon bashed and healed, Bard ... sang. Admittedly it took around 20 minutes to kill the damn thing but with two MP refresh songs on I (the Dragoon) practically had an infinite MP cheat on.

Dropped the Swan Bilbo too!
easy

After killing lumberjack myself (73nin/war) and 2 75rdm/blm met up with another 75rdm/war who was working on sword of trials and we decided to camp this guy for one of the rdm who had a brd. Took about 5-6 cycles befor he popped and I gotta say, he really was easy. the only thing having 4 people there helped with was the kill speed because he had a good bit of HP but not much in the way of defense. He never got a single hit to connect and I resisted most of his abilities, methane breath never did more than about 25dmg to me and paralyga only hit once (he used it 3 times) and it was a pretty weak paralyze, no way to remove it so I just lived with it and never had a problem. He did not drop teh sword though :( (oh and lumberjack didnt drop his sword either lol)

(NIN 75 with Haste build)

Got connection lost when doing BRD AF Feet in same area. I ran to his pop spot and killed the Tomb Wolves there. He popped next cycle.
I had NPC out and Garuda's Dagger on Windsday (which gives Garuda's Dagger almost 100% proc rate). He was silenced almost the entire fight, he managed to cast Aspir and Drain one time each. NPC took care of paralyze and Im 1/1 despite the horrible drop rate. A friend of mine is 1/13something. Ended with 600 HP to spare, main damage was only from Methane Breathe but NPC did run out of MP on Soothing Healer mode. In retrospect, I dont think I could have soloed it without NPC.

I just soloed this as 75 RDM/NIN, wasn't very hard. Kept it silenced for most of the fight, and Slow II allowed me to keep up shadows with ease. Although I feel it was easier then what it could have been, considering it only used methane breath only once when it was at about 20%. I did have to toss grav on it and kite for a bit when a lot of buffs dropped at once though... All in all, not too hard, I've killed harder NMs.

And of course, 1/1 on swan bilbo :P

So I read these posts and was wondering if my THF/NIN could solo it.

I ran to Eldieme Necropolis. And I saw Cwn Cyrff just standing there.

So I had my Hi Potion Tank half pulled out and by the way, nothing aggroes a 75 here, not even Cwn Cyrff. He doesn't link either.

So I sneak attack and hit him for 300ish and it barely scratched him, and then that's when I remembered he has about 15,000 HP lol

So this is a DRK type NM, Absorb Spells and has Blindga and Curse.

I subbed Garuda's Dagger, and it proc'd almost instantly, so Silence was on it for basically the whole time.

He has poor accuracy against THF/NIN, but Methane Blast [I think that's what it's called] goes through shadows. AOE Paralyze is very potent too.

I took it to 40% health when I had 17 HP left, so I Flee'd and ran not even to zone. He lost track of me and I ran back to him and poked him and such and he kinda walked back to his spawn area.

So I asked my LS for help and a BLM said he'd help, and that's all I needed, healing power. I thank him oh so much for helping.

Once my HP was full, I told him I was going to engage before he came here so I engaged and he said he was halfway through Beaucadine.

This time around, my silence didn't proc at all for about 10 minutes, and this thing spams Blindga, which takes away shadows, it was annoying, but he never hit me much so it wasn't that much of a problem.

I used the rest of my hi potions and when my BLM friend came, I was at 80% health and Cwn Cyrff was at about 50%. Basically it was really easy from there, just dwindling down his HP until he died.

It's a really easy fight if you have Silence on him. A THF/NIN can solo it. I just didn't have tank gear on, I had DD gear on, otherwise just bring hi potions and evasion gear and you're good to go.

So anyways, Cwn Cyrff died after like... 30 minutes from the second time I engaged him.

And then 21 Limit points, and SWAN BILBO.

I currently have it equipped and fighting things in Wajaom Woodlands on my BRD right now. lol

It looks awesome.
It is awesome.
It almost makes me not care for Joyeuse. [except not really]

And I'm 1/1 Cwn Cyrff. :D

Sharing stories is fun! lol

Just soloed Cwn a 75 NIN/WHM. This guy has insane amounts of HP, 15,000 according to ffxi-atlas. Fight lasted about 10 minutes. After reading the posts here it sounded like soloing this NM was pretty questionable so I took a rolanberry pie and 2 yag drinks with me. Without them I'm pretty sure I would've died lol. Fight was pretty easy but I was nervous as hell because I want this thing so damn bad for when my BRD hits 60! I think it'll be cake next time, now that I know what to expect. No drop but I'll be going back tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Edit: Also wanted to mention that the wolves don't link and Cwn doesn't even aggro at 75. I went with the intentions of killing a few rounds of placeholders and leaving if he didn't pop. Lucky for me he was standing there waiting on me when I arrived. =D I pulled with Dia II with no link. Also, the others didn't blood aggro when my HP hit red. My advice is to not spend a lot of time camping this guy. He probably isn't camped very often so there's a good chance he'll pop after only a few PHs are killed.

As a 75 BRD, I found this mob seemed to be soloable. It certainly isn't fun and it would take you prolly 10+ hours to do, but its attacks aren't too threatening for an experienced BRD. It is sleepable by lullaby, so you can do the whole buff routine.

Though I didn't actually kill it solo, I was able to stay alive for a good hour for help to show up. The worst thing it does is prolly its methane breath attack, which did upwards to 400 DMG to me. I never once got resisted on lullaby and I was easily able to control how low my HP got.

It will take all your MP, so it might be a good idea to go as /NIN or another job that doesn't rely on it. It uses magic, but since its undead you cant steal MP with dagger.

Again, I dont recommend, but its certainly not impossible to solo if you have the time.

Edit: Just saw it pop again 3:40 mins later. I strongly believe this is lotto pop. And I was able to solo it much longer this time now that I knew what to expect. No /WHM needed.

Edit: Ok, it popped again about 3 hours later. This time I had plenty of time to solo it. I was BRD/THF. It was definately much easier than before in terms of controlling it, but cwn was really crazy on the curse/drain spam and took me much longer than expected. After about an hour and a half the resists were occuring more often and he was doing about twice his normal damage. Fortunately my backup arrived shortly after.

Edit: Another 2 hours later it popped. I was BRD/NIN and this time it was incredibly easy. I was able to kill him in about 30 mins. Basically tried to keep shadows up more for Curse/Drain than for actual physical attacks. Stun from Sword WS was very useful at times. Got him down to 20% before backup arrived to help finish it off. Definately soloable.

Got Bilbo a While back and am 1/2 on it.

First claim was a disaster, totally didnt read up on it so my THF 75 died when he had around 10% HP or so... was truly annoying and had to HP since no one from my old LS was available to help at the time.

I wiuld say it took a total of 3 days camping it to get it to pop again since I heard it's a 8 HR pop (at least it popped at 8 hours for me the three days i decided to camp it)

One day I ran in, RMT killed it and it just disappeared dead on the ground as I ran into the area... tuly disheartening to see RMT camp Rare/ex sh*t since they cant sell the damn thing in the first place.

so after 3 more days of camping, got claim with some Hyper Shell memebers that were cool, killed it and no drop, that was 0/1.

came next day and got it with no one around with 2 Social LS members, got drop making me 1/2.

So yeah... it was hell to camp this thing.. i hated camping it and Hope I never haveto go back there again since I was the only BRD at the time that seemed to want this piece, (thank god).

I just finished soloing this guy (no drop) as 75 Bst/Nin, Carrie hits the guy for 100+, so unless you're buffed out the *** you shouldn't take hate.

Had to use 2 CC's and just blink tanked until CC got hate again, then 2x Rune axes + Gaudy whatever damage he done to me.

You can bring some meds just in case you get unlucky with crits from this guy or if CC misses a lot but other than that it's an easy fight.

solo'd this as 75thf/nin first time no drop... next night had my 69thf friend come with whm sub and it dropped! 1/2. solo blink tanking is easy enough as long as it doesnt use blindga at bad times and its poison breath can do some damage. sucks that cant use bloody bolts on it but im done with this nm. good luck!

Duo'd this as PLD/WHM 75 and BRD/WHM 75.

Camped for about 2-3hrs until he poped. Firstly stored TP to 300, then dragged the mob to the zone where we started fighting it. Spirits Within is not advised on this mob seeing as he doesnt have the great of a DEF so go for a multi hit WS and try and create a SC u know for the extra damage.
Was going well up to around 80% when he aspired me for around 150mp and took off about 1/3 of my mp. With Ballad on for the moment it wasnt too much trouble. At around 50-60% he 2hr'd with Blood Weapon. The BRD recasted Requim and we zoned so not to give him any more of his massive HP pool back. Requim making sure that he didnt regenerate any of his HP while he was unclaimed. Zoned back in and carried on fighting with him at about 50%.
He then started Curse spaming with ironically brought me down to 666/1300hp >:). Overall wasnt too much of a problem as he only hit me for around 15-40hp a time and Ballad easily made enough MP for Cure to keep me alive.

Fight took around 15-20mins, not really any problems, neither of us had to 2hr and finished with a decent amount of HP but not much MP but not much different to any part of the fight. 1/1 on the drop ^^

Just beat this *** as a trio {me, Philster 75 Pld}, Quatra {75 War} and Myumi {57 Bard}. He has loads of Hp, hit around 50dmg per hit to me, blinds, diseases, paralyize's and Curses you. He continually drains HP when he attacks making him double tough. 300tp Spirits Within barely dented him, and Quatra was killed at one stage, thankfully he had RR up and got up to carry on fighting as weakened. Lack of MP was a serious issue and this dogs Acc is incredibly high too. Took about 15 mins to kill, which included Invincible by me, and Mighty Strikes by Quatra. I had about 200Hp when we ended and no mp, bard had no mp either, any longer and i wud have died too. What made matters worse was that he didn't drop the sword!!!! We were all incredible p*ssed, considering we just spent 30 mins killing Lumber Jack and he didnt drop either!! With a 75 Whm this fight would have been a lot easier, and it is easy to see why barely any Bards have this weapon, i have seen 1 person on Ifrit with it, in over 1 year.

Good luck all u bards who want it, you'll need it.

1/3 was the final tally with no TH. Duoed as 75 smn/whm with my girlfriend (60 brd/whm). The only thing to hurt the mob was Carbuncle and Fenrir, so not much to the duo. I'm sure it can be soloed easily by a 75 smn/whm but it'll take a LONG time (the mob drains constantly and for 250-300hp to an avatar). Keep protect, shell, blink, stoneskin, and barsleepra up at all times.

To get him to pop, it took 2 to 4 hours each time. Each of the 3 fights was very unique; his strategy changed dramatically each time. One time, he was spamming curse (it brings the target to about 40% hp and mp) and drain (specified above). Another time he was VERY easy and died in half the time of the first. And in the third fight, he was spamming Sleepaga 2, which put an unexpected twist on the fight >.>

Good luck! It's a fun fight for a SMN. :D (If you have any questions, please post them. I'll try to check this and respond.)

Edit: Wording clarity.

Tried to solo this today as a 75 WHM/NIN, he is not easy at all. I can get him to around 70% without to much trouble but after that he starts to spam curse ;;

I wasn't really evading at all and his double attacks made it hard to keep shadows up. He is likes to use Aoe magic so keep him silenced if you can. His regular attacks hit me for around 80-100 and his breath attacks hurt a lot as well, one hit me for 250.

btw I used blessed for haste and evasion gear in other slots

abit harder

killed it again tonight and got drop, we now 2/3 on drop. fight was abit harder tonight then last night when he didnt drop it, again we got through 6 pets but unlike last night when we had pets at end they was dead tonight and timer wasnt rdy so we melee the last bit, looking forward to lvling brd now

Killed for the 2nd time today 1/2 on drop. 75BST and a 66BST (me) went threw 6 CC's fight wasnt long. Too hard for a 75BST to solo. Little hint when you pull him bring him to the zone and fight w/o aggro from low health detecting mob.
