Thought I would add this to help in determining spawn conditions...

I was running through the zone today and came across this NM. It was double ice weather. When I came back through a few minutes when the weather was gone I did not see him (I know nobody killed him, the zone was close to empty).

Maybe only spawns during double ice? With or without the timer conditions on the snow maiden?

Got this bad boy to about 5% on 75blm/37rdm. He woke caught me with stoneskin down and resisted my bind. But this NM is very soloable i just got unlucky. ;;

The picture of Frost was updated, and shows that the Snoll Arm is one of it's drops besides the purgatory collar.

I ran into Father Frost yesterday on my BLM75/RDM37. Was a little worried about soloing this guy but decided to give it a shot. It ended up being easier than I could have imagined. Just Blink+Stoneskin and I was off. Took me around 15-20 minutes, but I was playing it rather safe than sorry. No drop, but at least I know that I have the ability to take this guy down.

In reference to the post by the rdm/nin taru that took 2 hours to kill father frost, saying that he doubted any other job could solo it... well ha ha i just was in a pt goin to do Holy Cow and my monk/nin friend soloed it in like 4 minutes. Like the thief said, he has bad accuracy and when u get a monk/nin with evasion merits capped, it is lights out for mr frost.. of course no drop (never had it drop yet) ....Sooo moral of story 2hours or 4 minutes.. which would u prefer?

Was farming Giant Buffalo as 75 THF, pulling them up the ramp in the NE area of K-9. Killed a Buffalo and noticed Father Frost staring at me from a distance. I figured what the hell and pulled him up the ramp. Can always Hide, or 2 hour warp/dc/etc.

Before I started attacking I wanted to see if I could tank him. Frost has poor accuracy, even with attack gear on it wasn't often I had to use Utsusemi: Ichi; it was Ni almost the whole time.

So I draw my daggers, start pounding on him, and see that Ice Spikes is dealing back 25-35 DMG each time I hit (and of course paralyzing me at the same time). No way I can deal with that kind of damage, so I decided to kill him with bolts. I took him down to about 90% HP spamming Bloody Bolts, and found that his HP wasn't lowering any further than that. ******* has a pretty weak Regen, which means I'm pretty much SOL (no Venom Bolts on me which MIGHT have allowed me to solo him).

So I call out to my LS that he's up. Nedicini, 75 WHM says he'll join me, so I just Hide and let Father Frost go back to roaming around in upper K-9 area. Nedi shows up and we get to work. Daggers (BD/BK+1 + 400 attack w/ Sushi) were good enough DoT to overcome the Regen, but it was a slow fight due to his high HP and Regen. Barblizzard helped lower the damage from the Ice Spikes by 50%. And paralyna's when I couldn't recast shadows. Hit me for 90-120 DMG, but not that big a deal when WHM was medding because Bloody Bolt drains back 20-50 per shot.

TP Moves: He would use this one TP move that did up to 250 DMG and couldn't be blinked, nothing threatening. Maybe a Berserk move too (not sure), and he didn't use Self-Destruct; Stun is not needed against him. Overall, a pretty weak NM.

Drop: He dropped the Purgatory Collar and Snoll Arm, and I was happy to pass the r/ex Conserve MP Collar to Nedi.

Spawn Conditions: I dunno, some people say he's HQ version Snow Maiden who converts into him after 24 hours of being unclaimed.

Solo'ed
# Jun 05 2006 at 4:06 AM Rating: Default
Just solo'ed as 75blm/37nin, took me nearly 2hrs I think. My level 3 spells were hitting for 350-550
I don't know if any other job could solo convert is a magical ability. Definately died once from 2 bronosaur links when Father Frost was at 19% hp left. I rr2'ed and he regened to 45% by the time I could chase him. I slowly brought him down the mountain to the little revene thing, on the way I got another bronosaur aggro. I just kept alternating sleeps until my weakened wore. I melee'ed the bronosaur then slowly and painfully killed Father Frost. He has an amazing amount of HP! I converted like 10x, I am a taru I have a crap load of MP and it didn't even matter. I used a Vilie Elixir +1 because I came close to dying with the link also had to 2hr. Very exciting fight. Links are really the only problem. Never resisted a sleep, although he did resist one bind. No drop, 93xp, and a good story. Good luck to any of you adventurers who think they can take on anything :)

Seems to be an HQ pop of Snow Maiden.

I've seen Snow Maiden 5 times and Father Frost once. Never gotten the Purgatory Collar drop on either. I suspect these spawn under similar conditions as Rose Garden, Noble Mold, and Taisaijin, as all four NM types spawn in a group of 3 mobs (in this case 3 Morozko's), and takes the place of one of the existing mobs so either it's a placeholder, or one of the mobs despawns and the NM spawns shortly after.

Strangely enough, I'd favor the latter at this point, as every time I've seen either of the NM's, they were already up as I wandered past. On the other hand, I've killed placeholders for hours upon hours and never seen one pop. The same seems to hold true for the other similar NM's, nobody has ever seen any of them pop before. One person claimed to have killed Overgrown Roses for 72 hours staight by taking turns with his girlfriend, and never saw Rose Garden pop.

This sort of strange pop condition is leading to a lot of crazy rumors about what does and doesn't make these mobs pop. Please post any definitive information you find.
