is the wall trick still around or did they "fix" it

Some one said that 3 plds straight tanked this mob... I have to ask were they using aegis? I dual tanked this as a pld/nin w/ another pld/nin to 91%. at that point I ate 3 aeraga IV's back to back. rampart helped on the first 2 but the third was a moot point killing us both at one time then it proceeded to kill the rest of the allience and the next ls that was watching us get our ^#% handed to us... (there war voked it to keep it up when we wiped and it raped there whole shell) it is funny though found out you can cure it w/o getting agg from it. as well as I personally saw it invincable w/ a pld/nin using a virtue sword w/ stones...

YOu can see the side and his HP go to zero and disappear but they were using the "Wall of Justice" to do so... That is nothing new/not that impressive.

Do a video search of absolute virtue, you can find a vid that has a kill without using a wall trick or glitch. Google is a wonderful thing.

What are you, retarded? I'm still right no matter how much you argue. He has never been beaten without using either the wall glitch (bannable) or the lock glitch (no longer possible). Its not debateable. He just hasn't. Ever.
Too bad that was due to locking. He got locked in melee-only and could summon his wynav nor cast spells. Again, not impressive, was done before S-E fixed the locking.

I have an idea, a theory. Alot of sea is linked together right? lumins everywhere carry teh same tissue, etc. so what is to say that AV isnt linked just the same? Obviously plain brute force does nothing to this guy. My theory is that maybe if somone takes control of the top monsters in ru'hmet. What if he became more vulnerable? perhaps maybe a select element was targeted, and monsters of that type were destroyed. maybe he'd be weak to that element. all of the obi's and neckpeices are elemental right? im just trying to derive meaning from them. Any ideas? does this sound completely rediculous? im just saying that sword vs AV isnt working, there has to be alternate means to go about this

I've talked with quite a bit of people, Including GM's. This one has not been defeated, supposedly that 'bug' was first used on Remora, and although it was used, AV wasn't defeated. Just little things that people make such a big deal about that turn into bigger things. Of course this is all information, I mean, have any of you actually SEEN this thing defeated? or simply heard of its defeat like a million others?

with all the huge group efforts and strategy workings. it would ne really ironic if the strategy for killing AV was to solo him. dumb idea and ud prolly get pwned though.

I actually had a decent convo with a GM the other night about AV. I been thinking about the secret behind AV and talked to the GM about it, funny as hell.... The GM told me to send my Page typed theory to Informations on POL or w/e to get feedback and or suggestions. IDK exactly where to send it to but the GM said I had a Unique approach to it. I only got a screenshot of the first convo we had though. It was short and ended with the GM telling me they wanna hear my strategy/theory will talk after he/she finishes taking calls left and right lol. I'd love to tell ppl, but I am kinda on that note of wanting to be noted for finding out the strategy thing and not othera taking my idea and claiming it for themselves thing. For all I know I could be wrong, but If I am right I don't wanna be left in the dust and others saying they found it first =).

Hmmm all i no is that it has been beat on Cerberus. See ppl with Virtuous Saint titles everywhere. Just because it hasnt been beaten on your server plz dont post lies saying ppl havent took down its "complete" form even though thats how it pops.

The people on your server that beat him was when people could cheat and win by exploiting weaknesses. They fixed that, and now he has no weaknesses and there's more or less no way to win.

I have been looking everywhere to try and find a way to figuer out how to beat this thing for my LS. I have shuffled through the endless posts all and many sites and still the only way I can see it being beaten now is for a server to have to all gang up on it. Maybe 5 to 6 alliances to help one gets a shot after they wipe to HP (set HP in safehold) and next alli takes over and just TP/manaburn and hopefully kill it, but still would not be 100% possibility to win.
In the past the reason for people actually beating this nm is either using the "wall trick" or the wyvern trick. Not saying that we wouldnt use these tricks if they still were not available even though everyone flames the fact that some LS use the wall trick to win. My LS has never used the wall trick though and im about 95% sure that is not an option anymore as SE has fixed that from things ive read. I have tried however to use the wyvern trick as supposedly killing all 3 of his wyverns at the same time will lock his 2hrs abilities/spells. This seems to have been totally random as people would try different things + kill its wyverns at same time to attempt a locking, such as bring him to a cetain HP like below 95%. Another LS on our server actually beat AV and told us that they locked him at 99% HP killing 2 wyverns and about 5 seconds later the last. Our LS had no such luck, struggling for about 3 hours to lock him but in the end only locked his 2hrs only.
We attempted AV three times. The 1st a trail run but gave because of late starting time of JoL many LS members had to log. The second time we failed to lock his spells/abilities and we found out that around 65-70% he starts to spam meteor. We were un able to drop him below that even with his 2hrs gone. Our last attempt which happened after the patch that stopped the glitch of AV using two hours was installed ended very quickly. We were unable to bring him below 90%. We got him to 95% on TPburn before wipe and 90% with TP and mana burn.
Since the patch I have not herd of any LS being able to beat AV on any server. All the stratagies used in the past to win have been corrected as SE did not intend for AV to be beat in such ways. So I am sure there is some trick to be used to be able to beat him as SE had said they would not create an nm that can not be beat, but we still need to figuer it out.

ive heard its still possible to do the wall trick, but theyll temp/permaban if they catch you doing it and you keep doing it...

Lv only indicates the exp you get for the kill. Really has nothing to do with actual difficultly. As an interesting side note I seem to remember when people where fighting AV the pronoun "she" appearing in text. Funny thing is to think of peoples mentality a year ago and say the most powerful being in the land is a Drg.

I know not many people have experience with AV, and I know most of those who have aren't reading this page but... Can anyone confirm that based on actual fighting experience?
According to ffxiclopedia, only sins drop from AV and no actual items. You have to take the "Sin" items to Meret in Tavnazian Safehold and she will give you a reward based on the Sin you trade her.

I've read in several posts that Absolute Virtue was defeated by means of a joint effort of several EndGame linkshells and got some drops. But my question to this is, how can you defeat it with any more than an alliance of 18 people and still get a drop? I know that you can Call for Help, but in such a case, you wouldn't get any drops. If someone could fill me in on the "hows," I'd greatly appriciate it.
On another note, I've heard from my LS on Bahamut server that Absolute Virtue has been nerfed and is no longer the nigh-Invicible tyrant that it used to be (Outside of when it uses the PLD 2hr Invincible, of course. ^^).
Last question. I've read that this thing has access to the SMN 2hr Astral Flow, but I have read nowhere of it being able to summon avatars. Does it use the Blood Pact like it does a job ability? Does one of it's little wyverns use it, strangely enough?

The way it works is you have multiple working alliances from each Linkshell. Each one takes a shot at AV and then if they fall, there are like 5 more alliances waiting to try at him. AV has access to all 2hr abilities. I suppose he'd use it like Kirin and just summon -> blow out the BP -> unsummon. The 2hrs really are the least of your worries though with all the wynavs and the insta-cast spells they love to murder players with.

Can't you just kill off all the jailer's except the one that is a ninja, so he can Mijiin Gakure himself?

wall trick is gay yes but if it was your ls with your items im sure u wouldnt consider it cheating half the ppl who take the **** have never ever seen AV without wall trick this thing is close 2 impossible to defeat, SE will soon sort out the wall trick but till then u just gonna have 2 deal with the fact ppl r doing it id complain about the trick but if i was getting hes items im sure id stfu and just accept them who wouldnt?

To make things clear, I'm not saying this from the point of view of someone who has been to Sea at all (I'm only level 40 ^^/). I'm also not saying that there is any right or wrong way to fight AV.
I think the people who used the wall trick should be congratulated for their imagination, as making use of the natural surroundings is a good skill to learn. And also, it's not as if using this trick makes the fight a cinch; there are still spells like Meteor to worry about.
On the other hand, AV was most likely created with the purpose to provide a challenge to players, in which a large number of people would have to work together to come up with a strategy, and then to communicate during the battle itself. The difficulty of this monster is meant to be a challenge for us, possibly designed as motivation for us to continue to strive on to be the best we can be.
I personally wouldn't use the wall trick, and maybe someday in the future I'll die numerous times because I made this decision. But the fact is that it's MY decision. This game isn't about who cheated, it's about having fun. If dying over and over again against AV makes you miserable, then by all means, use the wall trick. And if fighting to the best of your ability is what is fun to you, then come up with what you believe is a good strategy and try it out.
... Maybe there are people who spent days and days in Sea defeating the Jailors, and much longer than that getting all the best equipment in the game for their jobs. Then they went in after all that hard work, and still put in a fair amount of effort to defeat AV using this wall trick... only to have people flaming them and telling them that they 'cheated'. Crushing what happiness they might have gotten from that legendary battle.
Maybe there are people who spent a very long time attempting to defeat AV, after joining a good HNM or Sea LS, and devising a battle plan along with the people joining them. Then after dying multiple times, they log onto Alla to find that people are calling them an idiot for not using the wall trick. And so their dreams of ever defeating him the normal way are darkened a few notches.
When someone defeats Absolute Virtue, maybe we should just tell them [Congratulations!]. After all, this arguing isn't very virtuous, is it?

SE admitted on the Fan Fest earlier this year that even the dev team couldnt beat this guy....so that kinda...sux. Friend of mine was there and heard them respond to to the question of if they beat AV with "well...we're going to try again..." so yeah...thanks for keepin the promise of "never putting in a mob that we cant beat ourselves" dev team... >.<;;;
SE doesn't care about us, they just want our money.
AV does not pop the jailers when he spawns -.- who the hell thought that?

This was beat on Midgardsormr by two endgame ls's; Mattet and PlusOne on 8/26/06. They fought AV strait up, 100% legit. NO goblin footprint or wall trick was used. I know this because I was there for the whole fight and ended up getting the new title: Virtuous Saint :D
As the Lunarians also discovered, once you get AV below 95% he stops using his two hours, doesnt call wyverns and his insane hp regen slows quite a bit.

When Jailer of Love dies, he has a chance to "summon" Absolute Virtue. You know this because just before AV actually pops, the "summoning" animation occurs around JoL's corpse.
After that, AV will aggro the ally that killed Jailer of Love.
After he has wiped out the initial ally (or everyone zones/logs/warps/etc.), he will enter passive, non-aggro mode.
So yes, he is non-aggressive after the ally that killed JoL has wiped/warped/zoned.

I've never fought this NM myself(though I hope to someday), but I heard from a friend in a HNMLS that Absolute Virtue dropped 90 people and only went down to 99%HP, so to all who think that the wall trick is a cheap victory, consider exactly how powerful this NM really is.
