Pathos Unlocked

  • Can remove Job Abilities, DEX, and/or VIT.

    • This can remove the Pathos of anyone that entered the zone in the party or alliance, even if they have disbanded from the party or are disconnected from the game when the monster is killed.

    • For example, if Player 1 of the party gets disconnected when the monster is defeated, there's a chance of his/her Pathos being unlocked when they log back into the game.

I believe that they're penguins, as SE refers to Mighty Apkallu as a penguin.

I don't really doubt that there's "Apkallu hate", but to date I've only ever killed one (on the boat to Nashmau, EP to me at 71) and he was already Triple Attacking me, and also seemed to have Double Attack as well. It also used two TP moves on me and neither were Yawn...one single target damage and one aoe damage.

So I don't think increased Apkallu hate has anything to do with their abilities...probably just aggro and the like.

I spent some time farming the lower lvl ones on Mount Z. As bst one leech would kill one penguin with life ta boot. After many kills it got to the point where they were impossible to kill with one pet.

I know I accumulated enough hate to make a grand difference but the only tp attack used by those was “Yawn”

On the boat I noticed the use many different tp attacks yet are easy to kill. I’m just guessing the abilities differ per area.
Tiny birds Vs. Tiny Taru

I got 2 ls buddies to assist me with the PUP quest. An apkallu spawns on the boat and we all walk up to it and ever take turns petting it, nothing. So as a lvl 75drk and a 75whm they start wailing on it with all they've got. At about 1/2 hp, I (45blm/whm) decide to cast poison after watching the fighting. Bam, aggro. The thing starts attacking me and taking away large chunks on my health. about 4 minutes later the fight ends with me below 50hp and the whm 1/2 out of mp. I dunno, was it because of the cheap shot, or do they just not like us Tarus?

For all who haven't read/or been informed:

Apkallu hate works something like Tonberry and Fomor hate combined. The more Apkallu you kill, the more things happen.

At first killing Apkallu won't do much. But over time the body count begins to add up and Apkallu will start to link... and aggro. Not only that, they will begin to take less damage and hit harder. They will even begin to triple attack. They will have access to more Weapon Skills besides Yawn.

Be glad you weren't the first to find this out while walking through Arrapago Reef along the ridge that has about 20+ Apkallu! No one is sure how to clear Apkallu hate, but people speculate it has something to do with all the random Apkallu NPCs in different areas.

I was lvl 47 thf atm when i did this, i was getting help to get PUP, i forgot to bring a warp scroll so i had to bloodwarp my way back, so i decided to test how fast these could kill me, they did not aggro me, and they dident seem to link.
I just used steal on one, ran back and forth without dying until i lost hate, i did it 3 times without dying and none of them aggroed or linked.

The strangest thing happened to me when I fought one of these....

So I was riding the boat to Nashmau, nothing special. So there's an Apkallu sitting there, minding its own business. It pops, and I wait a while to see if it aggros or not. It doesen't. I check its con. Easy Prey. Just for show I decided to /clap at it.

It aggros.

I'm not sure about anyone else; none of my friends have had this happen to them. My friend was a level 1 puppetmaster and the thing didn't aggro him to anything, not even emotes.

Just my two gil.

Fighting one of these was indeed a nice fight and every time i received a kindred seal ^^ but.... On a return trip one spawned and immediatly aggroed me... perhaps this creature is like the Fomor?

Thought someone would appreciate to know ^^;
