Pathos Unlocked

  • Can remove Job Abilities, INT and/or MP.

    • This can remove the Pathos of anyone that entered the zone in the party or alliance, even if they have disbanded from the party or are disconnected from the game when the monster is killed.

    • For example, if Player 1 of the party gets disconnected when the monster is defeated, there's a chance of his/her Pathos being unlocked when they log back into the game.

Nobody here has even said where the position is to find these at. Can someone verify where they are located please.

There are lots of Qutrubs (DC ones) on the southern part of the map with Ilrusi Staging Point. Around where you can find Lamie No.7, 8, etc.
How to break their weapons

Spinal Cleave is similar to Frenetic Rip, you must break the Qutrub's main weapon first. After that, he'll do one of three things-- He'll use Hex Palm, Spinal Cleave (using the sub weapon), or he'll pull out his sub weapon from his back to attack you with. He can't have his sub weapon out if you want to learn Spinal Cleave, so just wait for him to put it back, if he takes it out (if you break his sub weapon, he'll no longer have access to Spinal Cleave).

What I noticed is this: if the main weapon breaks and he doesn't drag out the second one on his back immediately, he will use one of those 3 TP moves listed. If he doesn't use Spinal Cleave, your chances of seeing him use it are pretty slim and you will probably waste your time trying to give him TP with Dia. So just kill him and get another. Also, a side note: He DOES in fact use Spinal Cleave ONLY while the subweapon is on his back, though the quote says he uses it for the Spinal Cleave WS itself... they are correct.

Lullaby immune?

Are these immune to lullaby? So far, though I haven't tried too much, every one of mine has failed, and these are only DC. Even with some skill merits and nearly full CHR/skill gear they still resisted constantly. I've never seen this kind of resist rate on DC mobs that aren't light-based, never mind on undead. The fact that they detect by sight does seem to indicate that they're definitely at least a little bit different from the traditional undead in the middle lands, more things could be different as well.

Partially cause these guys arent undead.

According to their description, they are - or were - alive when the lamia did whatever it is they did to these guys. i got the sense that they were more half undead, half living abominations, myself.

I noticed that as well. I was not able to land a single lullaby in nearly 2 hours of fighting in the reef.

These guys are really fun to fight. I made an exp PT to fight their VT-IT (at 75) counterparts, Lamia Idolators, in Caedarva Mire near the Dvucca Isle staging point, and it was a blast. Here's some info on Qutrubs:

-They have crazy HP, but take HUGE amounts of damage. A typical SC/MB our PT was making was something like an 1800+ Shark Bite, 3500+ Light, 1200+ Banish III MB, and 2900+ Thundaga III MB (and the BLM was only level 73!). Their insanely high HP makes fights last just as long as normal mobs of their level, but it's still a lot of fun pumping out such big numbers.

-They seemed to have 3 TP moves: Wailing Screech (or something to that effect), which would give them either Haste or Protect (the animation tells you which, if you can't see due to chat filters; red is haste, and blue is protect). They seemed to use this move a lot more than their other moves. I think thier second move was called Mangle (though I might be thinking of another of the new mobs from this expansion). At any rate, it was a multi-hit physical attack, similar to Goblin Rush and the like. Thier third attack is a level 75 BLU spell, Vertical Cleave. It's just a single-target physical attack, nothing special.

-Some MNKs in my LS that leveled a bit on these told me that they hit harder than normal exp mobs, but for what it's worth, my PT's PLD wasn't having any trouble at all tanking these. He didn't seem to be getting hit too hard.

Animating Wail- gives the Qutrub the effect of Haste. Looks similar enough to Haste, you'll know it when you see it, even with filters on.

Fortifying Wail- gives the Qutrub the effect of Protect. Again, this looks a lot like Protect, so...you'll know.

I'm not 100%, but I think the Wails are AoE and will give the effect to any mob within range. Can anyone confirm this? Not able to just go check it solo, or I would, lol.

Actually i'm pretty sure the spell Blue Mages learn from them is Spinal Cleave, which they may use after you break their first weapon
