General Information

• Spawns on the top deck of the ferry that travels from Aht Urhgan Whitegate to Nashmau.

• Resistant to Sleep, though it is susceptible to Gravity and Bind.

Proteus Special Attacks

• Maelstrom: AoE Water based magic damage with an additional Strength down effect.

• Hard Membrane: Self target Evasion boost. (Effect can be dispelled).

• Regeneration: Self target HP Regen effect. (Effect can be dispelled).

• Cross Attack: Single target two hit physical attack.

• Ink Jet: Frontal cone AoE Dark based magic damage with an additional Blind effect.

• Whirlwind: AoE Wind based magic damage with an additional Vitality down effect.

• Tentacle: Single target physical damage.

• Hundred Fists: Drastically increases Proteus's attack speed. Denoted by the characteristic mob two-hour animation.

Historical Information

In Greek mythology, Proteus was a lesser sea god with the power of clairvoyance, and would truthfully reveal anything asked upon him if he were captured. If he were captured, he'd use his ability to transform his body to attempt to break free, being able to change into a lion, a serpent, a leopard, a pig, water, or a tree. If his assailant is capable of maintaining hold on him as he transforms through all his forms, he will relinquish the knowledge of the future. It is through this that the king Menelaus learned of his brother Agamemnon's murder, of the warrior Ajax the Lesser's death at sea, and of Odysseus being stranded on the isle of Calypso.
