Vana'diel Bestiary: Lamia No. 19  

She pops when someone in the vicinity dies, so if you after Spinal Cleave or for w/e reason your out there....dont die...

I just fought this nm last night with six people. A seventh person was with us but he was the one who died to spawn the Lamia. We wiped the first time we fought her but the second time we were victorious, barely. Here was our setup:

PLD/WAR 75 (me)
WAR/NIN 75
RNG/NIN 75
RDM/WHM 75
WHM/SMN 75
SMN/WHM 68? (person was anon so I'm not sure of the level)

To get to the spawn area you need one Lamia Fang Key to get to the bridge she spawns at if you're coming from the Illrusi Atoll staging point, two keys if you don't have that staging point and are coming from Caedarva Mire. Our suicide guy had to die on the south end of the bridge to pop the nm both times. As long as the Lamia 19 hasn't been killed within the last 1-3 hours (not positive on this but it's something like that) you can pop it, even if your group wiped and it despawned. She will not spawn under the bridge. To get from the bottom of the bridge to the top of it you need that key.

When the nm spawned I the PLD voked it and started attacking. Right away she spawns the two skeletons once you claim her, and they hit hard. One of em opened up with a 350 crit on me. Other hits were in the 200s and 100s except for one shield blocked hit that was only 64. But anyway I look down and see that I'm at 113 HP, and that happened really fast. So I 2-houred Invincible and got some cures from the mages. The DDs were fighting the other skele, not the one I was tanking. >_< Bad things happened, I died fairly early and we wiped (one skele was at 25% health, other at 75% health). Lamia 19 and her skeles despawned 30-60 seconds after we all fell to the ground.

The second time we did better all around. The other melees fought the skele I was tanking, and I think the smn did his 2-hour. The skeles share hate, meaning they both hit the same person. Their combined attacks do a lot of damage but with our setup they died pretty quick. I believe the RDM had one of them slept most of the time, not sure though. A couple of people died during the second fight including the WHM. Our MP ran out. The WHM got up with reraise and 2-houred after we got hit with a nasty -aga spell. It was a close fight, and the WAR finished it with a WS.

In both fights the RDM was able to sleep the Lamia sometimes but not reliably, and it wouldn't last very long. As I mentioned she casts some nasty -aga spells. I'm not sure if she can be silenced, but stun would have been nice to have.

After all that the Lamia 19 died and nothing dropped. Oh well, we'll be trying it again soon. I don't know what the drop rate is. In conclusion you can beat this nm with a party of 75s but be prepared for a challenge and have a plan in place. Good luck and I hope this info helps.

I've talked to a couple people now who have wanted to fight this thing. Apparently it spawns out of your body when you die, so sacrificing ones self spawns it. However, it also was said to have depopped by the time someone ran back to kill it. So, like I've said it's said to spawn out of your dead body and depops within 5 minutes of it spawning, either that or someone gets to it too quickly and kills it out of your body. The rules are standard, must keep killing lamia's until you decide to commit suicide and spawn it yourself. Not quite sure what he drops. Hope this is all true and hope it helps, take care guys.
