LOTB has a tactic that works on this NM, but we still haven't gotten a pair of bazubands yet. There are VT spiders ("Spinners") in the area. With a group of 6 high level BSTs, have 4-5 BSTs charm and 2-hr the spiders. Then, find the area were three slime mobs named 'Brei' spawn. In that area have the sixth member (presumably whomever has the best charm rate) charm one of the Brei slimes (they're very tough).
Then clear the tunnel that leads out of the area (there should be two or three Puks in there and a single Mamool mob at the exit, on a platform). Then have the person with the Brei slime pet drop down and send the slime at the Bugal Ja and Heel it back to the cavern area near where the Brei mobs are.
Here's the weird part that's kind of counter-intuitive to most all-BST strategies... everyone should focus on Bugal Ja. Just ignore the bugards completely. Send all pets at DBJ and melee him as well. It's important to keep on spamming your fight command, to keep all pets focused on him. The bugards will try to kill the and distract them, so keep using your fight macro to keep every pet (and every player) focused on DBJ.
We were able to do this with only 6 ppl (2 ppl died by end of fight, but we still won) but not all of the BSTs were level 75, and we had a DC before fight, so we only have 4 spiders/CC/slime instead of 5 spiders. With that extra spider I think we could have pulled this off with no deaths.
We didn't even get a crystal to drop, however, lol. But we'll be back. This is a good NM for BSTs because no one is interested in fighting it besides BSTs, so go kill it!
P.S. -- watch out for the Porogoos (the frog wizards). SE added them and they're very smalll mobs (hard to see, actually) but they're also Truesight and they're annoying and dangerous, and they're peppered all over Mamook. Keep your BST group well-organized and keep everyone together to fight these guys -- don't melee them if you can help it.
We did this a few weeks back and was a very fun fight. Setup was NINx4 BRD WHM RDM THF. We had one NIN tank main NM and THF help attack while other 3 NINs held a pet each. We pulled him into a dead end tunnel just near him. Mages where up top and melee down bottom. The NIN holding the NM had his back to the left side of the wall and 3 NINs where on right side of wall. This avoided everyone getting hit with Cone DMG. BRD kept slapping on mambo and when we had TP we unloaded on main NM then got back into postion. As the fight progressed the Pets got alot more tough and very acc which put a strain on our MP situation. Near the end one NIN died then a pet was free to have some mage fun....few secs later another NIN died. After those 2 pets got free they went straight for the mages and dug them a new grave. Last NIN with a pet (me) ran straight to NM regradless of situation since nothing could be done. Unloaded TP asap then bought it... 10 secs later main NIN tanking NM died and THF was last one alive. Lucky for us it was on 1% and he killed it before the pets killed him. Our reward was 3 wind crystals and a hell of a good time. I recommend this method with another melee on main NM and or another healer.
PS After a recent update the axe now drops of Hydra aswell. This NM also drops a pair of hands for BST which are ment to be good (dont ask what cause i cant remember)
My LS and I Just killed this NM, with 10 people, 8 of which were Bsts, 1 nin and 1 smn.
Plan was that the Nin would pull one of the pets off him (he's a Bst mamool and has 3 Tyrannobugards with him at all times), and 2 of the bsts would each get one too. They'd take the pets away and the rest of us would procede to kill the Nm.
Pulled it with a Puk and left so no links (incase they do).
I tell you, it was hard. Very hard. Took us a while and some 2hr pets to actually manage, but we did it with few casualties (Told everyone to take RR2). We had pets on him at all times, and his AoE was pretty hard on all of us and had a big AoE.
This was done by TheFlock an all bst LS in the Quetzalcoatl server.
