we were farming tiger fangs in different locations cos they die so easy and didnt wanna share and wait for respawns ^^;

anyway, cassy says she sees wheeping willie and im rolling my eyes going "gawd she's been goin on about this thing for weeks... sure... i'll go help kill it..."

we kill it, it was all a suprise to me, i didnt know 5 saplings would spawn, and i didnt know lumber jack is kinda tough for his level :O

alot of HP, and stonega IV bites ass when you're a PLD who wasnt full MP at the start of the fight to begin with, and a blm subbing thf that cant heal ya... lol...

i was almost dead, cassy was low on mp, i was all UGHHHHH and then i thought... HMMMMMMMMMM

told cassy to warp to her hp in jeuno, switch to rdm75, and come back out, meanwhile i kited jack all the way to jeuno, kinda easy cos he's really slow, had to keep waiting for him. Cassy would come outta jeuno, heal me, refresh me, phalanx me, use most of her remaining mp on Aero III / Water III, then warp... and... repeat until Jack died...

so i guess we cheated, but meh, it was fun, having lv 25THF sub is SO gimp :O it gave us a little boost of gil tho :D

his melee attacks are actually really weak, most of the time they were doing zero dmg to me, his stonega IV hurt tho >< 600 dmg sometimes, and he uses it often and without any recast time :O

all in all, really proud of the strategy invented on the spot :P

Easily duo'd with a MNK/NIN (me) and a RDM/NIN. He didn't seem particularly accurate, and his magics were nothing. No drop, though.

Just got done soloing Lumber Jack as whm/nin (solo whm ftw) Heres my strategy:

Kinkobo + platinum grip + pammamas
stack as much evasion gear as you can

Pull him to where there are all kinds of weak mobs around

Killed weeping willow using NPC on Stulwart Shield mode, Made sure he had hate before he poped all the babies so they all attacked him rather than me then went through killing them one by one. By the end of this NPC was pretty much dead, don't bother curing, it's not worth it stonega will kill him any ways.

Now the hard part...

be sure to keep him para at all time. Keep yourself haste barstonra and barpetra. Erase any thing he does to you reight away, but para is higher priority. after the first half hour you'll get the hang of it.

Set macros for Dia on <stnpc> and Spirit taker on <stnpc>.

When you get need mp: w/o disengaging the lumberjack Dia a Sapling wandering around the area and spirit taker him... This can all be done w/o losing claim on Lumberjack (I had a party of 6 people watching me do the whole fight waiting to take claim) from this you should easily fill your MP bar (I averaged 600)

Rinse Wash Repeat..... for about 3 hours and he'll finally go down.

Just killed Lumber Jack a little while ago with a rather unconventional setup.

72PLD/THF
75WHM/SMN (me)
75BLM/WHM
75RDM/NIN (Joined in at 50%)

We were camping Kirata and after going 0/4 we decided to go check on Lumber Jack before heading off to bed and Weaping Willow was up. So we quickly get to work and claim the NM.

All I have to say really is that Barstone and Shell really makes this fight infinitely easier. Also paralyze can really take this NM down a huge notch too. It has a ton of HP so it'll take a long time to bring it down, but as long as you can stick it out you'll be fine.

Some questions, for those that have tried and/or killed him;

1. From posts below, it would seem that this guy doesn't zerg. Is this correct?
2. Is he stunnable? I would guess that since he's earth-based, the spell "Stun" wouldn't work, but what about Head Butt/WS Stun/Bash effects?

If he's stunnable, I think I might head out as BLU/NIN and give it a try.

I decided to test my mite as rdm/blm mainhanding hornetneedle and spamming energy Drain. . .

Day 1
way outside the pop windows after the mainte i decided to just drop by. . . .and find a Weeping Willow without anybody caring. Killed the tree, aoe'd the saplings and had to med. . . .and Jackie despawned. . .
2nd try i kill the saplings (cyclone) before Willow. . .Lumber Jack will aggro you if you don't take several steps back after killing willow.

Fight turned out to be rather easy, yet long (45mins). Main dmg would be Choke, Shock, Burn,Poison II, Bio II, Enblizzard and Blaze Spikes. His added effect stunis seriously deadly/annoying. . .Towards the end his Stonega IV (usually like 40dmg with 124 earth resistence) scored a few, seemingly random, damaging hits like 500+ dmg. . . .apart from 20k gil i got Vile Elixir, Reraiser, Lightning Mantle and a ToD. . .


Day 2
Same game, except now with the strategy known. . .and i learned his Break spell can affect me. . .added Barpetrify even though Petrify wore rather quick and caused me no problems. . .but these random high dmg stonega's towards the end. . .

Yet another Reraiser, 20k gil, Vile Elixir, Lightning Mantle and a Beetle Blood. . .so much for Light day Full Moon <.<

Day 3
Anf yet again. . .the same. . .the same. . .the same. . .until around 5% HP he hit me with Break, followed by the evil evasion down, followed by a 500dmg StonegaIV through stoneskin&phalanx (lightningday, no weather, random moon phase), followed by a double critfor ~200dmg each and i was left petrified at 70HP. . .he missed me twice before showingme the way to the ground. . .

But nobody cares for him so i came back right away with a whm40 as stona slave and repeated the fight on Darksday. . .he seemed to resist spells alot more then usual (or faster) and hit harder and more often. . .so it seemed. His Break only hit once towards the end but with Stona at hand this time i couldn't are less. . .

and got another 20k, Vile Elixir, Rereaiser and Lightning Mantle. . .

Even tho the usual classes (smn, rdm, thf, nin. . .maybe blue) should be able to take him on solo, i would recomment to bring a matching backup like a 2nd smn or a healer. The evasion down is quite devastating and getting petrified might turn the tide quick. . .like it did for me

I got warp tarued to Batallia, ran in through the gate. Two people dead, me go "Huh?" A bunch of japs just resting there. It aggros me 228 dmg, stonega IV me for 767 and I die. It was right outside Jeuno zone. Anyways. Got Raised 3ed. Lol. Hilarious. What an experience.

I am waiting for this thing to pop. I'm using my friends 75drk/nin to solo this thin. I duo'd waraxe beak in met. mt. but... it was har with silence AoE ; ;

Okay on May19, the 2hr main i logged off at the pop. So okay i felt cocky with my friends 75drk/nin so i see weeping widdow, it pops in the cicle of where Lumber Jack pops.
Weeping widdow pops the saplings approx 5, at 60% and below, BUT, u DO NOT HAVE TO KILL THEM! You can Weeping Widdow and lose them!! (they stay poped).
So, about 5-10seconds of Weeping Widdow's Death Lumber Jack Pops. In the exact Place where WW died. Lumber Jack has Chain Spell active, and uses Blood Weapon, 60%-.
I didnt solo cuz i died. got 4 others to wtf pwn it.

took me and another SMN 45 minutes to duo this thing, we used Carby, however I used Garuda once to see BP damage, 876 with Pred Claws. Gil sellers arrived, but couldn't steal, as we had blockaid on. Got: Reraiser, Vile Elixer, Lightning Mantle

soo i was helping this guys with papyrus and i saw weaping willow i dint know this sucka spawned lumber jack soo i proceded to kill it since it check too weak to me as a lvl 75PLD soo when he is half HP he spawns his little sons this little tiny tetrans like 5 ofthem when i killed the weaping willow i see Lumber Jack spawn under him and what do you know i had to kill all of the little rats before i engaded the BUG so i killed the little puff balls and it was time to face the truth. I watied for some of my firend to come near since i knew he was gonna stoneaga 4 me when i was about to engage and voke the MOFO SOB despawn on me... It despawn on me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF i was so pissed start looking for weaping willow again and dint find it look at a website and then i saw the spawn time of weaping willow 21-24 hours i fell so stupid now ><

This is not lvl 55.

Fun fight but kinda long. I successfully soloed Lumber Jack as a lv68 Summoner on Pandy server. I just carby kited it to the ground, took about 2hrs haha. As an Elvaan, i used only half my MP the entire fight, roughly 425mp used.

At first i was with Shuyen lv71 THF, and we were gonna duo it. We killed the Tree, and saplings. Rested up briefly then went for Lumber Jack. We got it to 91% before we got in trouble, it casted Break on the THF. That was bad. So we run to Eld. Necro zone to shed hate, i rest to full, and attempted soloing it.

Soloing i found it has a ton of HP, and spams Stonega IV alot, and it seems to cast that spell extremely fast. As a SMN it hit me for around 100~ dmg each time. I went a little extra far when kiting and started summoning carbuncle, and out of no where Lumber Jack is instantly beside me and im getting hit hard. I dunno what the hell happened, but i quickly got Fire Spirit out to tank til i got room to get carby out again, then just regen to full HP. If Lumber Jack starts chasing you, run around the trees and up the hill near Eld. Necropolis for carby to catch up, As for drops, reraise, lightning mantle, vile elixer :(

Turn /blockaid on so no one can steal from you. Happy hunting ^^

I tanked it last night easily, as a 75MNK/SAM with +45eva gear.

I have soloed Lumber Jack 6 times and have not died as a 75 Ninja.
Beetle Blood and he sword dropped one time each and they dropped on the same kill.
I usually soloed it for fun because it took:
fastest: 1:04 hours
longest: 1:21 hours

I have not heard of an other job than Rdm soloing it so I tried and won. Many people on Fairy have watched or heard of it so yes: ninja can solo LJ.

Took maybe 20 mins with me Thf73/Nin36, a Mnk72 that died early, a Blm71 that showed up abotu 5 mins into the fight, and a nin75 that showed up about 15 mins into the fight. I had weak Barstone and Shell, and Stonega beat the crap out of me, but other than that he didn't hit me.

No sword ; ;

Beat this with THF68/NIN34, SAM61/RNG30, RDM65/WHM32 and myself, WHM58/SMN29. We weren't sure if we could take it, since people on this forum make it sound like hell.

Started with the SAM tanking and our RDM decides we're losing after about 5 minutes when she'd already converted and used half her new MP, and I was almost empty. LJ is at about 95% HP still. RDM starts running. SAM starts running. THF tells me to run.

I tell them to come back cuz we can take it (I'm stubborn ;p). RDM has jumped off the ledge and is booting it for Jeuno. They still wanna run, but I'm sitting there, resting for MP. THF blink-tanks it real good and I was having no problem buffing, debuffing (silence would NOT stick though), and keeping the THF healed. Everyone finally decides, "Hey, we can beat this thing!"

SAM stays away for a while, letting the THF build hate, so he can continue to blink-tank it. After a while, we pull to the ledge, so the RDM can rejoin us, and the SAM just fires arrows, making sure not to steal hate. From here on, it was real easy and I even wasted a lot of MP nuking with some banish spells and holy.

Fight lasted 25-30 minutes and we got..

Reraiser
~8000 gil each

No sword, but it was awesome fun. ;)

Btw, the thing has practically infinite MP or something cuz he was spamming Stonega IV for the entire fight. Fun stuff. ;p

this thing cannot be level 55, i was lvl 73 black mage at the time, my buddy a 75 blm was with me we got 100% owned stonega 4 it casted we fell. as far as it being a HNM maybe yes but why do they call it level 55? if it is far more powerful than a level 75 player... also having spells higher level than players get, it must be higher level.

Went to trio this thing, myself (65rdm), and my two friends/LS mates (75nin, 75brd). take the long journey to the spawn spot cuz we had a ToD for the day before. we kill Weeping Willow, then just as lumberjack pops (and i guess my Nin friend wasn't looking)- BAM gets stolen by a JP Rdm/War (who was by himself) who then kites it halfway across Batallia to where his backup arrives. We were pretty pissed, seein how we killed the placeholder, and our LS holds a policy of "if you didnt' kill the placeholder, its not your mob", but w/e. Went back the next day, same LS was there, this time we killed the Willow and claimed Lumberjack. Long fight, the 3 of us ended up gettin a 67 smn friend who was in the area to come and help us out. Most glorius moment of the fight though, last 10% hp or so i did my favorite Chainspell >> Blizzard II >> Aspir Aspir rinse repeat to finish him off.

Anyway, get to the spawn loc through Beaucedine Glacier, 24 hr pop, Weeping Willow is the placeholder and once he's dead Lumberjack pops within seconds in the spot you killed Willow, so be quick ^^.

Ok my story starts off like anyone elses. Me and whm are taking thf friend to go get his paper. I'm going sam/rng to do the uber dmg and when we walk out i am like "OOH a Treant and a Weeping Willow!" So thinking i'm bout to get paid in some mistletoe i attack treant. Sidewinder goes dead in one hit. sharpshot barrage on Weeping Willow.. hmm not dead.. k attack.. attack.. sidewinder! wtf Saplings everywhere. So i attack em meanwhile thfs dyiing over here but I notice it says Lumber Jack is hitting him. I was like he wasn't here a sec ago crap. But I know every NM my lvl b/c I am resourceful in my farming. So i say hes 55 i'm 61 and whm is 61 we can take it so i sidewinder it and then 2h it with a bunch of dmg. Then i notice wow that's about 1/10 of his health a stonega and some help from the saps we were dead moments later. a PLD friend comes to raise us i tell him um hes not 55 hes a HNM he's gotta be. So we grab a rdm too and fight that ?????. (Moments later 3/5 dead lol). Got raises from survivors and rest up. k hes in that tree again new tactic! BARSTONRA YOU STUPID WHM! After idea of bringing it near zone to escape hate that causes death and barstonra we killed it. Now for past 3 days i've killed it.... every time we get 5k gil reraiser,lightning mantle, and vile of elixer lol which i keep raising prices of now. But what is drop rate like on the bloodsword? b/c that'd be sweet to get.

Yea, So I finished trying to get a Papyrus for an LSmate and I decide to go play with a tree i see. Oops it was weeping willow....wtf it pooped out 6 little trees...oh crap lumber jack just spawned...Oh crap come help me, oh crap i got aggro....Oh crap its casting Stonega VI!!!! SOB I died....


that was the conversation I had with my LSmates shortly after I realised I wasn't bored any more...

Long story a little shorter...never forget what you did to spawn an HNM you might do it on accident when you're bored...

I watched an alliance of lvl 30s die after shouting "Who wants to come see us kill Lumber Jack??"
Needless to say I almost peed myself from laughing. During the fight the last pt from the alliance called for help, and then was cursed out from about 100 people looking to kill it.

Can anyone tell me his spawn time? 24 hours or so?

Was helping a friend get G1 paper in EN. After we finished we zoned out of the Northern exit by the Glacier. And there was a whole PT of dead ppl laying there. Well there must have been a little lag cus i never did see what killed me until i looked at my logs.. This lumberjack did 2 criticals back to back for 5xx and 4xx and then you have 1 dead and D-lvl'd RDM...

Hey^^ i saw this thing as i was zoning into upper jueno one day, and there was about 15 bodies surrounding it. since i was a lvl 62 paladin at the time and knew nothing about this nm, i immediately run up and try to tackle it. which was a very bad idea. he made short work of me and proceeded on his killing spree. after getting raised i regrouped with some friends in jueno, and we called out to any high lvls that would want to help us kill it. we zoned outside and saw that the bodies were still piling up. i saw one lone lvl 75 red mage fighting it, and we watched for about 10 min when she started to show signs of weakening. i immediately invited her to my party and i jumped in the fight as well as my 62 dark knight friend and a lvl 61 whm/smn. we fought it still for 10 more min before another dark knight and high lvl dragoon joined the fight. the beetle started overpowering us and the dragoon ran for it....i invited a lvl 70 paladin to take his place. we continued fighting for another must have been 15-20 minutes before it finally went down, but it took the dark knight with him. we didnt get the drop (><) but it was a really good battle and im glad i got the chance to particapate in it. also since it was in front of jueno zone, we had also worked up a crowd of about 50 people watching us fight it. loved every second. cool, but hard nm. i'd fight him again.
