Went here for royal jelly with 20 stacks of berrys. Left with 24 Royal Jellies. So takes about a stack to get you all the way to AWD. Lots of work but well worth it. Farming Royal Jelly is a royal pain in the *** from the bees... those that are trying to get to 100 cooking understand where im coming from ><

~50s of rolanberries, didn't count exactly. Ended up with 35 Rolanberry 864 since the Matron Crawler is a miserable pop rate.

Discovered that Awd Goggie is about 50% pop rate from the 864s -_________________________-

Offhand, does anyone happen to know the drop rate for the jelly off the Death Jackets? I'm too low level to solo Awd Goggie, but the Death Jackets are too weak, ergo any way that I could get the royal jelly myself would be a great advantage over asking for help with the NM.

its so much easier to just kill the death jackets than go through the hassle of trading the rolanberries and killing the nm crawlers. sometimes the baskets just take your rolanberry and then say "Nothing Happened", its quite annoying going there with half a stack of rolanberries, ending up with 2 rolanberry 881 cuz 4 got "eaten", then go to the next ??? just to have both rolanberries "eaten". killing the death jackets doesnt take nearly as long, and is much much easier, and i dont see a reason to ever kill Awd Goggie since he only drops a crystal, silk, and the jelly

as 68 thf i only had to kill about 5-8 before the royal jelly dropped (cant remember the exact number cuz i killed some on my way through and someone was farming them already, so i went in and explored to see how strong stuff was to me now, killed Crawler Hunter and only got hit once by him and got 45 exp ^^, but anyway i went back and killed a couple and got the drop).

I average 1 an hour when farming for cooking. Sometimes you get lucky and it drops fast, but when you need a hundred...

Soloed him a few days ago, as a 68 RDM. I tucked myself up tight in the corner to avoid the Knight Crawlers (EP, but they still aggro), kept Poison II and Bio II on him, and pretty much outlasted him.
He was hitting for around 68 damage a hit without Stoneskin and with Phalanx, so it wasn't a pleasant fight, but when I could keep SS and Blink up, he wasn't that hard. Ended with about 50% HP and 50% MP, after one Sleep and Convert, walked away with 100 exp and the Jelly.

Not only for rolanberry quest guy in selbina, theres a series of quests that are linked together and begin in Jeuno. 1st: Complete Wonder Magic Set quest. 2. Talk to the kid's mom, shes missing a cooking pot, this begins Cook's Pride quest. 3. Head to Windurst and you're told you need Royal Jelly to get the pot. This begins Hoist the Jelly, Roger quest. ^^ completely time consuming. rofl

So, I was looking for ways to get more Royal Jellies... and I heard Awd Goggie drops them 100 % of the time. Which is true. So I took 72 berries, and 2 friends to CN.

After running them all around, (and sometimes to the completely wrong place ; ; ) This is what I ended up with.

72 rolanberries to spawn Gaurdian Crawler dropped

24 rolanberry 881 to spawn Drone Crawler dropped

12 rolanberry 874 to spawn Matron Crawler dropped

2 rolanberry 864 to spawn Awd Goggie

It took like 3 hours to do all that, BS for 2 Royal jellies. On a good note, I did get a .1 from the 2 synths so now, 97.4 cooking ^^

So.. Bottom line, don't bother with this, in the 3 hours it took to complete all of the darn parts, I could of easily gotten 6-10 Jellies from the bees.

It was fun, from a new thing to do, and I did get a cool title.

I am officially a "Bogydowner" >.>

Solo'd as a 60 BST/WHM.
Force spawned using a Rolanberry 864.

Was very easy. I had more trouble on the
Matron Crawler. Used any Knight Crawlers
nearby to take him down.

Gives the title " Bogeydowner " when you kill him. That alone is reason enough to take him on. Cool title I want ^^.

Why bother doing all the work?

MONEY

There's a Galka in Selbina that takes the Rolanberries that the NM Crawlers drop. The older the berry (i.e. lower the date) the more gil you get. It is repeatable, and this is why you'll see high level players fight the Guardian Crawler over and over again.

why bother doing all the work for Awd Goggie when you can get the royal jelly from the death jackets righ at the entrance, it has to drop something else?

Having never fought it, I can't be entirely sure of this, but:

It is a forced spawn with some type or Rolanberry, meaning you can kill it repeatedly;

It always drops the Royal Jelly, unlike the Death Jackets near the entrance, meaning the supply of them is more constant. As far as I know, there used to be a recipe involving Royal Jelly which used to be the only way to get cooking to 100. Now, having never leveled a craft to 100, I can only say that I've heard that it takes many, many synths to get skill points 90+, therefore if you could get Royal Jellies in huge supplies, it'd be much faster to level cooking.

I have cooking at 99.4 and can attest to 12 hour marathons of bee farming to get jelly. A 100% drop is great. I'm a 60 bst and want to give this a try solo.
