Just killed this guy for my wife, he was easy. He attacks super slow, I was able to recast Utsu in between his swings. Only problem came when he spawned, he immediatly started casting Sleepga, I couldn't target and get silence off fast enough. Luckily my wife got cure off on me to wake me up then the fight was a matter of keeping my buffs up (not too hard) and keeping silence on him (once again, not too hard).

Only thing I'd change is I'd use a poison potion before the fight and leave stoneskin off till I engaged and silenced him.

Edit: spelling

Very easy battle. You can sneak pull this (not that there is a whole lot of room in the area to pull this to). My plan was sneak, trade ribbon, sleep II and debuff (paralyze, slow, blind). All of them stuck easily, when I was ready I enfired and hit him, then popped on silence.

Since when can you sleep the undead mobs? Is this guy different for some reason?
Sleeping undead?

Though highly resistant, Undeads can be slept...
Once farming Garlaige coffer key for my Paladin AF I attempted to Sleep an EP Ghost as PLD/RDM :O
That was really weird lol

This is one huge skeleton.

Its HP is a little under 4000, I solo'd it very easliy as BLM75/WHM37.

Silence + Blind + 70whm + Hexa Strike turned this sucker into my own personal pack of bone toothpicks.

Easypeasy!

If you die in this battle or otherwise lose your purple ribbon, you can repeat the quest. You'll have to wait until the weekly conquest tally though to get the purple ribbon back.

Man, talk about Lich being weak. I went as 75 War/Nin with my level 57 NPC out for back up and popped this guy. I didn't expect him to bring me anywhere near close to death, but I also went in expecting him to put up a fight...

Rampage was doing a constant 900-1100 damage and my melee hits were between 90-125 with Berserk up. His accuracy sucked and the only time he managed to hit me was for about 56 damage with Berserk still going and Protect III (from my NPC). He never got a chance to use Blood Saber and the only spells he cast were Frost, Ice Spikes, and Aspir before he died (there may have been other spells, but I wasn't paying attention).

He managed to slow me with Horror Cloud, but then my NPC cast Haste a moment later so that was no big deal. The most annoying thing about this guy was getting to him alone (asking people to hit switches is a pain) and how his Ice Spikes kept paralyzing my NPC so she was even more useless than usual.

He gave me 16 limit points after the 30% pentalty from my NPC.

How to get to the Lich?

It should be noted that on the map above, there's a one-way drop at M-8 that's not in your favor if you're entering from Batallia. You have to go to the southern most entrance into Eldieme below Drogaroga's spine to get access to the hume bones, and as far as I can tell, you MUST have at least one other person helping you.

There's just no way to get at the drop point in the center of this part of the eldieme map without someone throwing the switch for Titan's gate for you. Once you can get to the center, there's a drop point there that will land you at L-10 of the map on this page.

Pretty easy fight for BST 59 using Coldblood Como pet. Had pet out in advance in case I needed to call another, but it was not necessary. Silence, Blink, Stoneskin all helped.

As of this writing, Lich C Magnus doesn't link with the other bones in the area. Had I known this, I would have {Heel}'d my pet out of AM range instead of letting it get hammered by it.

I was LV60 BST and used CrabFamiliar to start out. It stood toe-to-toe with Lich until it busted out the Water IIIs and Flood for high triple digit damage. Pulled out Carrie, who much more melee damage than Lich. But again, the nukes as well as the paralyze effect from its Blood Saber were a bit too much. By the time Carrie died, Lich was down to 25%, so I decided to zone and just Dia it until my Call Beast timer was refreshed. Luckily, didn't have to though. Ran into a couple JPs (Ramu and Makinam on Pandy server) in the hall who invited me, and we finished Lich off.

Would have killed it easily if I'd known that it doesn't link (unlike the posted information above).

Also, it doesn't mention this anywhere I can see, but you need to have a couple gates opened in the upper level to be able to get to the dropdown point at (G-8).

Solo for certificate?
# May 26 2005 at 12:51 AM Rating: Decent
I need to get the certificate from the Rhinostery so I can enter in the back way to the Canal through Windy... I waqs wondering two things: Do I have enough fame to get the quest in windy (I think I have around level 3 or 4 fame) and would I be able to solo him as a level 56 SMN? I have free carbuncle so it would be easy for me to just keep running him around the necropolis, but i'm very worried about keeping away from aggro from other skeletons and elementals. Does he link with other skeletons? Thanks in advance.

The entrance at I-6/7 is close to the bones, but there is a dropoff, so you must enter at the southern entrance to Eldieme Necropolis.

Solo'ed this as a 62rdm/nin.

Kept up utsusemi: ichi, stoneskin and phalanx and he hit me a few times for negligible damage. Once he was dead I recieved drops of Lillith's Rod, bone chip and I *thought* a dark crystal. I know I got 3 drops, the last one of them being a crystal but I have no earth in my inventory. Dark possibly?

Checked the hume bones again, got my blue ribbon!

Be warry of this area during the constant earth weather as there is an earth elemental that likes to roam about and likes to aggro to casting. He aggroed me as I was killing DarkStalkers in the same run.

I have to say this guy isn't very tough. I wouldn't doubt if he's just as tough as a regular lich and is just a named mob. Fought him as a 56 WHM and stuck Silence on him everytime (maybe had to cast 3 times). The only thing that is semi difficult about him is he tries to cast AM (Silence of course negated that but a good Stun would suffice) and has AoE Drain attack (Blood Saber?) like any other DRK bone mob (Stoneskin negated that).

He doesn't seem to hit too hard and he went down fast with me and a 60+ WAR and RDM. Honestly I think if a DD in my level range came with me we could have duoed this thing without too much trouble. Hell I possibly could have soloed him as a 56 WHM if I was brave enough and was careful.
Solo

This guy was very easy to solo as a 61RDM/NIN.
He keeps trying ancient magic when he gets the chance, but Silence does away with those ideas =D

The drain attack he did had no effect on me because of blink, so that's no worry either.

68 RDM and a 66PLD took this guy out pretty easily. I'm pretty sure I couldve soloed him actually, but it woulda taken me forever.

I didn't do any research on this quest. I just traded the purple ribbon to the Hume Bones and figured I'd get the blue ribbon. I was wrong. I was snuck so I waited on the NM to disappear (I'm only 53 BLM), now I can't figure out how to get the purple ribbon back. Any ideas?

Papyrus?
# Jun 26 2004 at 5:47 PM Rating: Decent
I'm rather curious if this guy can drop Papyrus. After all most NM's have a higher drop rate on items that aren't "THE" drop, so why not Papyrus?

Lich C. Magnus isn't supposed to drop anything. It spawns by trading the rare/ex purple ribbon from the "Blue Ribbon Blues quest" to the Hume Bones. After you kill it, you can examine the Hume Bones that spawned it, and get a Blue Ribbon as reward.
