Really annoying NM yet it's not boring

I have been a ranger for almost three years now. I have all the real merits(besides the updated verion happening in todays update) when it comes to rng. I equip all end-game gear and have used all the combinations of weapons including staves, swords. daggers, axes, bows, crossbows, guns and cannons. I know how to balance Ranged attack, STR, AGI, and ranged accuracy for maximum damage AND/OR maximum damage over time.

Let me explain something to the rest of you up and coming rangers. A miss = 0 damage. You dont want to miss a single shot. Ex. A lvl 74 rng in an exp session in Mamool can out parse an end game ranger decked out in STR and Ratt gear with expensive foods. How can this be true? The 74 ranger that eats sushi and equips his Rng body and Ohat misses less often but suffers a -15 per hit and maybe 400 less on WS. Comparing to the end-game ranger with crimson hands, skull cap, Osode, Scout's Boots eating Curry. It doesnt seem possible but all the misses means less ws over time and less total damage overl all.

Now the solution. The end game rng with an Ebow can equip more of those Racc gears to cut down on misses like the 74 rng does. Still boosting Ranged attack in one gear slot Plus STR and AGI.

Ok so that stuff is obvious and this whole post is a waste of your time until you read the last line. How does a ranger deal great damage in the least amount of time?

Weapon Delay. No other ranged weapon in the game offers as much DMG per shot with such a Low Delay. I spend all my merits on cutting Delay on ranged attacks and boosting my STR.

This bow gives a nice fix to several problems the End-game ranger faces. With prices dropping fast on everything the time is now to get yer hands on this bow if you havnt gotten it allready. Im campen eastern shadow right now ramuh...now to update asap and geterdun.

I decided to try my luck hunting this NM while concurrently tackling Western Shadow after the latest maintenance period.

My Drop rate: 1/4 (Vali's Bow)

Notes:
a) The NM spawned 2 hrs into its window. I'm unsure what the correct re-spawn time is due to my lack of experience.
b) My kills were performed as a lvl 75BST/37THF

Some people claim this thing is a 16-32 hr NM. Although I was present at the 16 hr mark for kills past Day 01, I did not have the honor of seeing it then. I would not be surprised if this thing did spawn at either 16 or 32 hours given the lengthy variation compared to what I saw with Western Shadow.

Camped it for two weeks+.

Finally got my freakin' Vali's Bow. Now I'll do a whole 2 more damage per shot....... maybe......

I So Hate 24 hour spawn type mobs,
Now i have a new on besides Argus to camp, Will i ever get any sleep.
They wanted me to be a ranger after i hit lev 75 war/ninja
Will i hit 56 ranger might as well have the best gear! Don't have the gill to buy it so have to camp nm's to get it. Argus seen it die once (no Drop) read text it was killed didn't see it was sleeping at the keybord!
24 hour spawn time everyone wants item............who has 24-7 to camp nm's
I think they need to adjust this just a tad! 6 hour spawn time's ex bow or make ex items spawn more often like argus.......just a thought!

I am starting to camp this NM, been trying to get him for a few days, til i started getting ToD it sucked. but now i got ToD and read from cannotlinkto hes 21-24, he was dead the other day when i found ToD, it was between 10:30-11 am. so i head over there and log for pop the next morning, which i figured would be about 6am for his window, well i get here early at about 5:10am and see i JUST missed his pop. like by 3 minutes no more. (i know this bc i saw "Eastern Shadow was killed by <player>" and there was still another guy griping about RMT in /say) so this leads me to believe he can pop 19/20 hours instead of the 21-24. ill be here again when i get another ToD and have time to camp him. as for soloing? i have gotten him once and i can kill him as 70rng/35nin and thf/nin at this level should be NO problem, a few friends of mine have been soloing this guy on occasion at pre-70 as thf/nin. i think he solo'd it as early as 67or so. as long as u have +eva gear and sleep bolts you should be ok. i always bring a few hi-pots along for the ride just in case. but have never gone below yellow in health. and i use the same gear etc everytime, might change next time i camp him bc ill have my o-hat but other than that lol. good luck and if anyone has figured out the pop req's and window timing, help us fellow rangers out!!!

I got a level 70 pal and was subbing thf for TH. I use 1 yagudo drink and a hi-ether. No 2hour was needed, but he does hit hard. Does like 90+damage sometimes. It was pretty easy fight thou. I probably wouldn't recommend trying to solo it. Unless you have a char that can heal themselves or tank damage really well. If your a Paladin save you shouldn't have any problem. Word of advice with most mobs and nm u fight that u r soling. If u have 2hour and low on mp and hp and have Hercule rings. Then wait till it can kick in and 2hour when 2hour is done flash and tehn heal your self. Unless mob or nm got like something that can do extreme damage to you example Eagle shot. Well hope this helps out

I would like to add a quick comment for those out there who are interested in the bow. Below you read a few people saying that it is completely worthless because of guns and shigeto bow having equall dmg, not to mention the Selenes bow being considered an equall. If you ever meet these people irl slap the living crap out of them. and shot to shot basis dmg is the same, this is true... BUT... E bow gives you + 3 agi and + 3 str. Ive compared the E bow(borrowed and no other gear change) to the S bow(during new moon)... lufaise meadows birds
Selenes Bow = 800-1200 per sidewinder usually 950ish
Eurytos Bow = 1000-1300 per sidewinder usually 1200ish

so just take that into accout when making your decision

Also in dealing with pop times I've noticed a few things that are not proved but i believe them to be true. This monster is a lottery pop not a timer pop, 21-24 hrs seens right but thats because people wait that long to start killing placeholders. This nm can actually spawn at any time(A LS member killed it twice 8 hrs apart) but with a very low chance of spawning. People always seem to mix lottery pops with timed nms. If there are placeholders that are always out then there is no timer but... the longer a monster goes without popping the greater his chance of popping gets. So 21-24 hrs will work because of this for the most part but if you show up just 21-24 after death and wait 8 hrs no pop you probably missed it during its low % chance of popping. Also the timer is at max after server reset so he has a good chance of popping after maintenance. Once again i will say that this hasnt been proved but seems true on all Lottery pop monsters.

He pops 20+ hours after ToD. Camped him 8 times. Quickest pop (from ToD) was at 20hrs 1 min, longest was 27 hrs 15 min. 0/4 on drops (grrr) 65thf/nin with 74rdm/nin tanking.

I have a theory if anyone cares to hear it.

I used to camp Bloodtear Baldurf the HNM ram in lathheine plateau. After camping him over the course of a week, i noticed that unlike most 21-24 hour HNMs, his spawn time moved forward everyday, not back. From what i can tell the spawn lottery opens between 21-24hours since ToD, and 90% of the time he popped at about 25-28 hours since ToD previous day. Eastern shadows Spawn method may be similar.

anyone know any battle strategies and jobs you need to fight him?
