I think its funny that im reading 66pld and 75 rdm killed it had trouble. if i didnt have (insert this job ability or item here) I would not have won. I am a 50 bst, me and my duo partner slaughtered this thing. The links were a great help to us cause we would charm the links, that had been beating on our bats, and use all that TP they built up and Jet Stream Ahoy! heh. I LOVE BEING A BST!

just got this cape when i was hunting for my coffer. i ran into him @the first Banishing gate. he almost kicked my *** but a bst helped me and a rdm healed me. the cape goes for 2mil on caitsith.

Thought I'd share my Old two-wings story with ya. (61 RDM/WHM at the time). I was helping a LS mate get his coffer cuz he had the key and had seen where it was, just needed help to get past gates... So we get past first gate and I see this bat, Old Two-Wings and I'm like hey! cool a NM, didnt know there was one here....and were not sure if we can take it, so we sneak past and see yet another NM, Skewer Sam, cockatrice, just past Two-wings. Well, after a disastrous run to teh third gate, we come back out and go through again. this is when i decide, ehhh, might as well try to fight this *******. I asked a few ppl what it dropped, they said bat cape and its a mil or so, so im like whoa! cool lets smash it lol... Was waiting for a good time to pull cuz i knew itd link with like 128301230 other Citadel bats...but then i see a WHM come up and say "Old Two-Wings [mine]"...and im like uhhh ok...lol go ahead and pull it...so he does and runs for his life cuz like a million bats link and he dies in about .5 sec. so im kinda laughin there...waitin for safe pull....ehh i decide wtf i can take this lol... so i buff up to all hell, no food =/
so i pull him to the safest spot i could, needless to say, 4 Citadel bats linked, so i sleep em as i can, while bashing away at Old Two-wings....finally kill him, no drop ; ; and kill the 4 citadel bats after another.......
thought it was pretty good feat for 61 rdm soloing :) good times,............oh and i wont be goin to garlaige citadel for another few millenia, i hate that place. :P (Also, didn't feel like takin Skewer Sam, A.) cuz hes cockatrice, hits hard and has bad TP attacks =/ e.g. silence, had no echo drops and B.) friend told me his drop sucks anyway, not worth effort to kill.) hope ya like my story :)

noticed this too, i'm a 67 thf on bahamut, tried to camp this regularly with the afformentioned 21-24 hr respawn time, but once in a while he wouldnt spawn..... i think u guys r right, his window was changed, but what is it at now..? i can confirm its at least 20-24 and will be camping earlier to see what its full window is, any info on its changed window would be greatly appreciated:)

k me an friend claimed another 2 times, all earlier than the previous window we set for it, its window is wider than 18-24 hrs -.-........ i can only guess its 12-24><.... dammit...

I've looked through the 3 main FFXI sites and all have the incorrect info on various NM this being one of them. I used to camp this NM daily and it was 21-24 hours but after an update in January the pop window was changed, I found that it was killed before the window opened, I continued camping coming earlier and earlier in hopes of figuring it out. After 10 hours of camping without pop I gave up. Could someone please tell me the REAL pop window on this bat as of now?

You know what Alorah. You are right. I have camped Old-Two-Wings now for 4 strait days. I got Time-of-Death (ToD) the first day and came back the second day after 21hrs(because its supposed to be a 21-24 hr pop) and it spawned for me after about an hour. I killed it and got ToD no drop ; ;. I came back the next day with a 74 Whm 20 hrs after i killed it the day before and it was there. I was like what the hell??! it was there before the window was open! So my friend was stuck on the other side it aggroed me I killed it no drop ; ;. The next time i went it popped in its window and me and a thief killed it and got the drop ^^. But yet again on the 4th day i got there 15mins b4 window and someone said that they had killed it already. I was like hmmm. But i camped it for the full 3hrs no pop! That means it spawned before the 21-24 hr window again!
I am not certain but I believe the spawn time is 20-24 hrs. im going to test this theory tomorrow. please keep in touch if you find out anything new ok^^
By the way to answer my own post... yes i can solo it at 63PLD .. BUT i had sweet gear and u must bring 3 yagudo drinks for refresh and i used a blink band and my 2hour and i brought electrum rings for 40 xtra mp. GL ^^

Ok, friend killed got time and gave to me again, so I go back next day at 19 hours after death, I stay until 24 hours after no pop. So, I assumed it is 18-24 hours, in that case it died between 18-19 hours so I set my alarm and wake up 6 hours before that which happened to be 8 am, I tried to stay awake but kept dozing off since I didn't go to sleep until 6 am. Anyway I woke up to find it on widescan, a BST was killing it this was after 1 pm or 23 hours into window. This doesn't confirm it's 18-24 hours but it seems very possible.

I keep tracking times of Old Two Wings and it changes a lot from day to day. Its not a 21-24 hr because once again it popped at around 19hrs after ToD. This confirms to me that it isnt a 21-24 because this makes the 4th recorded time it has spawned before the 21hr window.

I am a LVL 63 Paladin and i was wondering if anyone knows if I can solo this NM. I have top notch gear and will go with a blink band and food and Yagudo drinks for refresh. Please let me know. ^^
On Cerberus I went for a Garlaige Citadel coffer hunt with some high levels. We found this and we're like, "OMFG what's an NM doing here!?"
We killed it and WE GOT THE DROP!
Splitting it 6 ways, since it is 1.5 million on my server, gives us 250k each. That's enough for my Dark Staff AND 50k extra!

Me( dragoon 68war34 ) and a 66 thief owned this thing tiwce in 2 days with Wheeling Thrust + sharkbite= light got one drop so far being killing it everytime, Not camped, But 24 spawn DRop rates are not to high.

If you look at the post near the bottom and the posts that are more recent, this cape went from 200K on one server in March of 2004 to 1.5Million on one server in January of 2005. That's worse price gouging than i've seen since i filled up my gas tank.
Funny story actually (happened no more than a few minutes ago)
Me and my LS went to go fight Roc.
We enter Garliage and in the first room behind the first banishing gate, we see Old Two-eyes. Wow a NM already! We fought it quickly, but alas there was no drop.
We take a right and Skewer Sam was right there in our faces. We kill him, but no drop.
We make it out and Roc is sitting there just for us. We claim and after a long battle, we kill him. We got no good drops hahahah. Bad night.

My story is pretty badass neways, i was going for thf af hat for a few of my friends when suddenly my friend gets aggroed by a bat im like wtf? hes 65 and were only passed gate2 so im like u shouldnt be aggro then i c that its old 2 (drops 1.5 mil cape) (on my server anyways) long story shot mnk 2 hours it after i voke and tank drops cape since we had 3 THFs' and dispite what u may think TH stacks as varified by Thunderan GM of Siren server. there were 7 ppl in the pt and u can think oh wow 115k each ... i didnt think of it that way since they were 3 whms and and 2 thfs at like lvl 45 and 52 theres no way they could have taken this nm with the 8 citadel bats that were linked from him on it so i QM the cape and give it to the mnk ;D yea i just hand 1.5 mil to him i guess he deserved it but man i could have used another 1.5 mil twards my knife but w/e fair is fair he pwned that mother

ohh yea...i remember Old two-wings back when i was in the army. we would always play cards wile we waited for orders from the commander. i havent seen him since charly acedentaly set off the mortor that blew off his left arm....i miss the great times we had.
Anyone know how long this guys spawn time is?
Also do you need to kill the citidel bats in the area even though he is not a Tri Bat mob?
I camped him for about 4hours today with no pop...i was killing the citdel bats in one area...

21-24hr pop with no PH.
On my recent NM Hunting Rampage, I've decided I would make this guy my next target. ^_^
So I head off to Garlaige, kill little bats for about a half hour, then got him. Nobody else was there too..
It was a long long fight and if I didn't have my good ol' Staff, I'd have been done for.. My WAR friend showed up and we both duoed it for the last half of its life.
Got the drop, we're gonna split it 60/40 seeing as I killed half of it. Got Skewer Sam right afterwards, with no drop.

a few quick notes. encountered this guy while completing the garliage portion of my rdm af. a 75 rdm and myself opened the first gate and went through, at which point we encountered him by dumb luck. he will aggro all the way up to 75, so be aware of this. also, he doesen't hit very hard at all, although he does doubleattack quite often. the difficult part is whittling down his mass amounts of hp while trying to avoid links. drops bat cape, which is +5 evasion. if you decide to camp this fellow, keep an eye out for skewer sam, a cockatrice nm which pops in roughly the same area. drops the wind spear.

hehe, well i'm happy i finally managed to kill an NM and get a drop.....seeing as im at lvl 60 now thats quite sad! i thought SE had it in for me! LOL
anyway myself taru blm60/whm30, mithra rdm60/thf? and a hume thf/52 killed this easy! it was great fun^^ got the cape and it sells for around 500k on bahamut!

So, I've spent lots of time sitting in garlaige citadel hoping this guy would pop, or be there... and no luck. *Cries* i need to replace my night cape for my Nin... too bad this jerk wont pop for me... ugh, I'm on the ifrit server, so if anyone has any info on when he spawns please, let me know... (I need to know around what time he keeps getting killed ><)
Killed it got drop today. Im lvl 66 rdm and were there any links I woulda had some trouble. Its not so much that it hits hard it just has a ton of hp.
This thing is definitely aggro. Running around I saw this bat and thought i'd sneak attack it (at lvl 72) and it aggro'd me and also took 4-5 bats along with it.
This also has to be atleast lvl 60+ as a lvl 52 mob wouldn't aggro someone who's 72.
A lvl 71 PLD solo'd this with no prob, and I took this on at 72 with no prob too (after re-zoning first time.. grr)... aslong as theres no link from other bats ><

so i have some freinds in high places, my bf is a 70 war, so when it coms to me getting genkai, he brings all his friends, tho most of them were 60, well anyways when we get to the banishing gate, we see a train of 20 bats and old 2 wings, they kill the brd and agrro my bf and he warps while we all huddle in a state of sneak and " WTF" and we waited for the bats to pass... but as they pass we saw the NM seperate and go in the oposite direction.. so we take it, and we get the drop... 600k in gilgamesh, spread 6 ways ( even tho my bf ran, he got a share too just so he could pay off his debt to our rdm lol)
BTW, i got all the genkai done in one day... genkai and 100k in a day, dang that was awesome.

Simply put, this is not possible. Why? Because in order to get the quest, you must be a certain level and you surely did not level 16 levels in 1 day.
Actually, you're wrong. She stated "got all the Genkai.." she didn't pluralize genkai, unless the singular and plural are the same, like sheep. Other than that, stop getting so technical, its a game >_>
P.S. - I beat Maat at 66 no problem. >_>
