I've seen this guy twice while leveling in Garlaige Citadel, where both times a high lvl alliance of 70+ all /anon came and killed it. They seem to be a linkshell who has killed this HUGE HNM many times because this thing is a pain. And I mean PAIN if you're leveling and Serket decides to spawn. So here's my 2 gil on how to get through without taking too much of a setback.
First of all, Serket's area attacks have a very wide range. Also, as many have already posted, the poison (20 HP / tic) will take out a lvl 50 party very quickly. Luckily we had a bunch of high lvls who knew serket well who stood next to us, doing nothing but Poisona, over and over. If you are the healer in the group, take charge and get your group far as you can and if your party get's poisoned, Poisona them all.
Second, If you DO die, which is rather likely, get raised AFTER Serket is dead, or if you get raised already/ have re-raise on, don't "activate" raise until Serket is finished off. Otherwise the nasty AoE or Poison will kill you instantly. I watched one of my party members die three times by doing so.
And as a last note, if you are an LS or group of people planning to kill it, give a quick /shout or two explaining what you're about to do, just so parties can be alerted and move away if they don't want to die.
I'm not saying this HNM is impossible to live through, I'm only noting what my party experienced, and sharing Serket's nasty attacks.
Lastly, this HNM does not aggro, and spawns every 24 hours.

well i was in garl. leveling as 49 thf and as soon as we dropped down the holes we got against a wall because me and 2 other people had to go afk....before we started exping (hate interupting it....for a RR break) well i came back and someone not afk moved..got aggroed by a bat...ok no biggy right? well it just so happened serket spawned at about the same time....came back we would have been ok if serket's AoE (he has one right? its the only thing i can think of that could of destroyed most our party that fast)

Yes he is a giant scorpion, yes his AoE's are a pain, and yes he does not aggro...run circles around him all you want while hes ucnalimed and he will ignore you
I saw this while pulling beetles for my party, and god damn it scared me. The HNMLS grabbed it before I even knew what was going on. Our party watched the whole fight, and it's AoE tantrum thing hit us like 3 times. 20hp/tick, what a pain in the ***.

My LS tried him today, we actually got the first claim.. We weren't kiting or anything, just trying to kill him when somehow a member from another LS was spamming mug and stole our claim.
We were all pretty confused (not to mention a little bit ticked off) about what happened, but the truth is we probably would've been killed anyway. We're taking it as a lesson to level a bit more as an LS.

As me and a pt of lvl 49 ppl were killing some bats down in the lower depths of the Citadel, a pt of lvl 70-75 ppl came down. Didnt think much of it....bout that time

About 5 mins into the fight this thing uses his huge Poison AOE which none of us were expecting. This AOE has a VERY large area, it hits us all and knocks off about 200-300, and starts takin away 50 per click. If you're ever in the lower depths lvling stay away from this thing, period, lol.
All in all, it took the pt about 15 mins afterwards to defeat the bugger. Bad experience for us? Yeah sorta considering that he killed us. Was it amazing to watch a pt of lvl 70's at work, killing a scorpion thats the size of a house? Very exciting for sure ^^.

this is a HNM so its level has very little value to it. it is on a 21-24 hour pop from its time of death. only a few jobs can actually solo it, rdm nin and bst, there may be others but until i see it i will not count it as a possibility.
its a pretty easy HNM only dangerious parts about it is its poison AoE and the binga + poison.

That's a funny story..haha, humorous.....
I have camped Serket a few times and once a RDM/NIN claimed it on his own and managed to solo it.
The fight took a long time but he had great equipment and skill so he didn't have much problems.

STAY FAR AWAY!!!!! His Poison Storm will hit you from a mile away, and his other AoE does like 400 to a lvl 50. btw, the poison storms poison effect is 20 hp per tick. Kinda funny seeing someone die every tick.
Saw him while exping , he killed me twice (aoe killed me got raise and then he poisened me. >.< hes huge though.

I for one believe taking chances for a NM and exceptable loses is definatly worth it in the long run for the stuff this guy drops. But, atleast try to help out the lower levels and keep the mess away form them.....not run it up their @$$ as you say. Because there 1000 xp loss and 5-10 min of downtime counts to them. Personally I pull NM's away from lower levels if they have AOE. It pays to make friends if you plan on leveling your lower level characters at all. Besides we all know who the real enemy is...Gillsellers!! ^^

I know that sounds kinda mean... lol, but when i die i lose 3000 exp without raise 2 or 3, and i wouldnt care about dying for this guy, ****... ill train him around the citadel while i wait for a friend to come and save my *** =)

How do you think a lvl 60-65 party of 2 war 2 Drk mnk Rdm nin and maybe a whm would do against this
you would die end of story casue yall will get arrgo by every thing while fighting him so better wait till lvl 69 or 70 unless u want to die from arrgos

I don't think a RDM/NIN can solo this. Serket is indeed a weak "HNM" if you even consider him one, but he paralyzes and that can easily kill you while you try to recast your shadows or whatever. I trio'd him. Me (75RDM/NIN), 75THF/NIN and 75WHM/BLM. The THF and I tanked it^^
21-24hr spawn, can spawn anywhere on the bottom floor, including the Undead Area. A Monk/Nin can solo it with potions. But 4 people with the right jobs could take him down. I'm 0/3 with this ******. Still no Claw or Ring. Damn u!!! ^^
Great Altana! this guy was awesome when he did over 350 dmg to me in an AoE (i was a spectator) and then half my pt fell over dead suddenly because they never noticed that they had been poisoned.
seeing this guy is a religious experience, the pt that was fighting him took about 20 mins to actually kill him (i dont know if they got the drop).
is it true a 75 rdm can solo this guy? its hard to believe because of the amount of hp and sheer strength this guy had.

Ok... we all know about the whole soloing thing by a nin/war or a rdm/nin. And someone mentioned a 75war/nin might be able to but would have trouble with debuffing. Have you not heard of "Full Break"? It's a great axe weaponskill that not only deals very good damage but lowers targets evasion, defense, accuracy and attack. It actually lowers a monster in levels of stats. SO after a one Full Break you could Raging Rush a lot until the affects wear off, which in time you would have another Full Break ready in TP. So with Utseusmi:NI and ICHI (excuse my spelling), it is very much able to do so with full evasion gear, few potions, food and of course... antidotes.

ya this just now happened to me, my PT was had just fallen down to lower floor to lvl and i had just entered garliage and someone in PT says "theres some NM down here with a bunch of high lvls around it" i didnt think anything of it, then i see my PT members dropping like flys, i jump down and low and behold, its Serket, turns out they all wanted pics of it and got hit with AoE, if you dont die from the initial attack...then you will die from the poison if you dont get a poisona

I saw this bad boy one time when i was leveling in the citidel. It looked like a nin was soloing it or had some friend kinda more trying to lvl at the time. But then it did its blasted aoe which hit 3 members of my party did about 200-300 to two members and 799 to me. Being a taru that killed me which pissed me off cause i just leveled.
