No idea how to play WHM but for the WAR's out there this is soloable @LVL34 WAR/MNK if you are well equipped & smart.
Get TP before you start obviously & kill the 2 leeches on the path. I ate Squid Sushi because Bloody Bolts are the key to survival. Without capped Markmanship it aint worth the effort, don't bother. R'Acc rings & a few potions is all you need, I used two.
Sneak before you pull, like others have said. Don't forget your oils! So sneak up & hit 2HR right before you pull. Acid Bolt @ start then switch to Bloody bolts. Shield Break ASAP then start spamming bloody bolts as quick as you can as soon as you get hit. First one will go down fast against Mighty Strikes if Counter & Double Attack kick in.
Take a breath, use a potion if you got them but if @ +85% HP after the first your ok if your well equipped/pimp.
We only need to fight one more, not all three!
Okay, sneak up again & pull the second one, this will be longer fight without 2HR. If you have capped Marksmanship your okay, Shield Break time again! Bloodys do not proc on leeches EVERY time!! Maybe 3in 5? Just keep spamming them. Use Defender on the second!! This won't effect the amount of HP you drain from the mob.
Okay, you survived #2?
If the third leech is still there & you have +80% HP then by all means pull it, if you are up for it BUT...
You DO NOT have to kill all three in one sitting to get your key item!
I did not have time to kill the third! It depopped while I was killing the second, so I used my TP to finish it off.
When I went up to the ??? it didn't give me anything for killing two, so what to do? We do it again!
Wait! There's a cool down period. The leeches on the path will pop first! Kill them & keep as much TP as you can.
Once they pop & you kill them both, the time should be close to try again the NMs again. Repeat the technique above, use a potion after the first kill to get you close to 90% hp & sneak up again!
I killed four of them, two each time. I got my coral.
It may even be possible to just kill three IDK! Someone may try it one day. Just kill one each time & let the other two depop three times? Who knows?
I killed four, two @ each pop leaving the third to dissapear. Don't forget your oils before you pull! These mobs are LVL33, got same xp from these @34 as from a DC leech on the path.
I want to meet a WAR/MNK like me in-game crazy enough to try this & brave enough to win.
Cherish your XBOW!
Next stop, Rank4 NM solo. Do Bloodys proc on him? Who will find out? Me!
So..ya....I went there as my 55 rdm/ 27 blm and I'm gonna have to say the hardest part was finding the area. After a few "(/sighs)" thrown at my LS, I had 2 of them come to help me in the Tunnel to locate the spot. But by that time I had found the "???" and was on Korroloka Leech # 3. I buffed: stoneskin, blink, phalanx, aquaveil, prot 3, shell 2, haste, enthunder, sneak and deodorize, and touched the spot. I had been soloing leeches in the area for tp (lvl 28-31 mobs) so i was prepared. Started off with ws Shining Blade... They went down fairly easily. Never got me in the red, barely into the yellow, still had enough mp at the end to convert and go about my business. My thoughts? 55 rdm's if you know what you're doing, you'll kick @$$. Now, off to lvl my NIN for rdm sj and be damn near invincible.. Mwahahahahahaa! (mithra /laugh motion)
well, i'm about to head out to Korroloka again, got horribly lost the first time, and ran into some Jammer Leeches ><; Got some good directions this time, should be able to find the sons of guns. I'm a lvl 55 RDM/ 27 BLM... i should kick some leech tail, right? >.>, <.< -Saharah of Shiva, Titan
Just beat these guys as a 41RDM/20BLU, 100% HP and about 20% MP at the end of the fight, wish I had known it would be this easy, I would have unlocked NIN earlier.
I went in, cleared the room of Thread Leeches, all the buffs (you all know them so I won't bother listing them), cast Sneak and Deodorize, clicked the ???, ran back and pulled them one at a time. Had to Convert when the second leech was about 40%HP. So all you young Red Mages, this ones easy, just remember Sneak and Deodorize so they don't aggro.
My 42WAR/21MNK and my Friend RDM42/BLM21 just beat these guys with both of our NPC's out. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. My NPC almost died but it was pretty easy.
Can anyone help me with my ninja quest on the Pheonix server. (willing to pay) if you are can help me email at mojo37@optoline.net. Ps after April 18 playing on xbox 360
I solo'ed this as a SAM53/THF25. (Yes, underlevelled sub, I know.. working on it ;))
I was lucky to ran into a mage who was doing the NIN quest before me, and he gave me Protect III and Shell II. Probably helped a little. I killed all the Thread Leeches in the area to build TP, then healed HP a little (up till 980/1067). Did Meditate again, and my TP was about 210%. Waited until the Meditate reload was down to 30 seconds, then used Third Eye, a plate of sole sushi and spawned the Korroloka Leeches.
Targeted the first leech, and hit it with Tachi:Jinpu. HP went down to 15%! I thought hey, this isn't as hard as I thought. I hit it two times more to kill it. Targeted the second one, used 2-hour and killed it with Tachi:Jinpu and another hit. Killed the last one with two Tachi:Jinpu. Clicked the ??? and got the key item. HP was down to 500/1067.
I fought these things at level 30 with a level 69 THF along with me, and he whupped the crap out of them. He even gave me 55 shihei (used for utsusemi) when we were done ^_^ only charged me 200 gil for the whole package
These little things are more than I imagined!! I'm a lvl 45 rng/22 war. I tried to solo them and literally got smoked. I was able to take out one in the time frame that it took them to bring me down.
Afterwards, I called on a 41 rdm to give me some healing support. With this, we had no problems whatsoever. Just a little note..... Don't Underestimate them as I did!!! lol

My friend and I hada fun time killing theses. We fought them as a 55whm/blm and 43whm/blm. Friend used bend once when we got aggroed by two more leeches, but other than that, it wasn't very hard.
**If anyone on Gilgamesh ever needs help with these, please send me a /tell**
I have done this for many people and I do it for free.
Not sure what lvl they are but 2 of them were beating down a 43 DRK pretty hard before I could jump in help.

I did this a few days ago, had a lvl 50War/25Nin help me out and it was....a disaster to say the lease...I am a 31Mnk/15Thf at the time and one leech owned me within a minute...I was eating sand when my War just barly managed to beat him...got lucky and had another pt come up and raise me so I could get my Coral...moral of the story, take more than 1 lvl 50War....

51 DRK, I'm about to go try kick these leeches asses. My Battle plan? A new tactic that Ive never tried before.. First.. I'm going to sub WHM. Then, build TP to 300%, activate Blood weapon + Souleater + Spinning sythe, Finish up the first leech with Souleater + Blood weapon still active. Open on the second one with another spinning scythe (should bring the 3rd one down to half life) by this time I predict I'll be down to 1/3 life, Divine seal + Cure III, then start chipping away untill the second one falls.. then move onto the 3rd and open with Vorpal scythe, which should hopefully kill it.. ^^ wish me luck

Make sure that you clear the room of leeches first. You'll kill 2 birds with one stone. Why?
1) So the other leeches don't link making the fight that much more difficult.
2) Build TP
When I went there there were quite a few leeches in the area and the two level 50s I had helping me insisted that the room be clear before the fight. So I'm guessing that you will get your ass handed to you promptly if you don't do so.
Good Luck!!!
P.S.
If you are really hurting to unlock NIN ASAP and your next attempt fails you can always recruit some higher level help. Here is what I did:
1) Shouted for hours for help 2) Shouted for hours for help and offered a 10K reward.
I got a whole lot of @#%^ All.
Next...
1) I searched for the Bastok area for any players that were level 50+, asked them for help and offered a 10K reward.
2) Same as one but this time ask ONLY NA players.
The JP that I had asked were very helpful but not a single one had the time right then and there. I was not going to wait anymore and the 10K reward does very little to sway your typical level 50+ JP.
I asked a level 45 Paladin if he knew the quest and he was confident that he could help me out. He even got a level 55 Monk friend to come along. The fight was close, even with their help. Main reason being a 30 Mithra THF does not take the beating from 3 leeches well, even for one round of attacks. Each one of the guys took a leech off me and in the additional 30s for the next voke to take the last one I almost died. If the I did not have the PLD there to heal me I would have been eating dirt.
If could still work witout a mage of PLD's help but you have to make sure that your help will not just rely on voke. The need to use voke, switch targets and engage to get hate off ASAP. We did win the fight even tough a couple of the leeches that were outside of the room wandered in and linked. I was very surprised when the 2 helpers said that they were going to split the 10K. I initially thought that the Monk was just heling out because 5K is not really worth the effort IMHO. Again, I think your best bet is an NA player, they just seem to be uring for cash more than the typical JP.
Alas, that's how long it took them to hand us our heads. We're going to go, pick up a few more levels, and come back later. Things that will help if you try it: The person that pokes the spot seems to get the initial agro. My monk's hp went down alarmingly with 3 leechs pounding me. Sleep is good. No Sleep is bad. Use Elemental Seal. Our blm got agro from a bounced spell and went down with nearly full mana still. 100 fists and mighty strikes would have helped a lot... we had fought something earlier and had burned our melee types two hour abilities; In retrospect we should have waited the 20 min for the two hours to come up. Ah well. It would be a good idea to build up TP on the surrounding leeches/bogy's/whatever, and have your skillchains pre planned (if you need to split group members on two, make sure they can chain together, and setup your timing so the mage can get his bursts in).
A tense fight, but very doable as a RDM47/BLM23. I took out two Thread Leeches to build TP, then fully buffed (Stoneskin, Phalanx, Blink, Enthunder, Aquaveil, Refresh, Ice Spikes) and touched the ??? with almost-full HP and MP.
Immediately after the leeches spawned, I cast Sleep II and Sleep on two of the leeches, and started engaging the third.
The next several minutes consisted mostly of me chipping away at one leech at a time with Beestinger, while keeping Sleep II on the leeches and buffs up. For insurance, I Converted after the second leech so I could take the third leech without any worries. Cure II was my main heal, plus Drains. No nukes were used, save my final Aero II to finish the third leech in style.
I built up my TP to 300 by killing the two thread leeches. After that I buffed up with blink, stoneskin, phalanx, enspell, spike, and refresh.
After I clicked the ???, I activated chainspell and dumped 4 aeroga on the leeches, elemental seal <sleep2> one of them, used 300% TP on one of them, cure 3 myself.
By this time the first leech was dead, I finished the 2nd leech and sleep 2 the last leech again. Then convert, rebuff, heal, then finished off the last leech.
Is it possible to solo these as a level 60 Rdm/Smn for a friend of mine? I've taken out the Guardian Treant for Sam quest with no problems but I must assume this is more difficult because there's three of these little guys. I've gotten the ninja quest in the past but had a lvl 75 Sam with me... But either way, back to original question, is it possible to solo these with full buffs up? Thanks.
Hit me for 30-40 dmg per attack, and got me to 600 from 900 very quickly. Raging took off half its HP (did 500-600 dmg), and I just hit 100 fists after that.

Posted:Jun 12 2004 at 8:21 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I was going to altep desert (cause my friend needed escort bak cause i escorted him there) Then i find this little guy i thought there were normal leeches then i check them impossible to gauge. So i killed it..... then i got the ruby for carbuncle. So then my friend IM's and says "why u in windy i thought u ere gonna escort me" so then the guy got tred of waiting for me and logged out for 10 days (i figured he was pissed) and in that time i was lvling my jobs. So i called him him and said am rdy tp pick u up and then he turned all happy. ^^
This is the worst post I've ever read. It barely has anything to do with anything and is so far from being grammatically correct, it should not even be displayed. This should be in the off topic posts if anywhere at all.
so I'm a 43 bard, is there any chance i'll be able to take these if i can always keep the ones i'm not fighting asleep. I'm pretty weak in general but have good equipment, or does anyone know if the leeches are able to be charmed?
It's technically possible for you to lullaby them and solo this fight, but you'd have a hard time keeping yourself alive while they're hitting you at the beginning, especially since they'll do their usual TP/MP/HP drainkiss attacks on you after so many hits.
Sad story I thought you could get the coral without getting the quest, so I help some friends get it.. didnt know it was a key item.
So I claim I got it so they didnt feel bad and proceed to come back after getting the quest.
lvl 50drg/25war made sure I was at full health, and had Penta Thrust waiting for the first leech. (this is post-patch) hit first one a few and knocked it down, taking close to 300 damage from the combined leeches. I proceeded with Defender and continue hitting them, and shot off another penta to kill the second leech. By the time I started in on the 3rd one I was down to 300- health. Finished it off with 180/989 health and got the coral.
I was very edgy about wether I would actually pull through though, because they were hitting me for 35-45 damage each hit, and with 3 leeches that adds up really quick.

they link ^_^ and yes you do wanna kill most if not all leeches near before hand. Also having two blm is nice cuz you can do one at a time very quickly without getting a high lvl to do all the work.
Killed these tonight with a party of 5, 30 whm, 30 blm, 2 30 rdms, and a 62 rng. It was pretty tough, but with the Rng doing ~2000 damage, it all worked out. Sure was tough keeping the healing going on all of us :) Now to brave the trip to Norg to finish the quest :(

The fight was pretty tough? Had to keep the healing going on all of you? How long was this battle, o.O? a 62 rng can solo this in 30 sec...or even less.

You must be joking, I had a 59 ranger help me out with this, and he creamed them. I was a bard and kept the other 2 asleep, and he was the only one doing any real damage to them. All 3 died in under 2 minutes.

I'm assuming these are unmeasureable because they are a Notorious NPC, but has anyone checked how much exp they give? that would normally deffine thier level.
What kinda of group is needed to take this trio out?
Since these I assume are the guys that go with the NIN quest Id say the lvl recommendations are the same, a well rounded group of lvl 30-35 or one lvl 55+ can solo ONE at a time (sleep and bind others during fight)
This was fun. Took my 50 SMN, put up stoneskin for the hell of it. Got Ramuh out, popped the leechs, two hour, Judgment Bolt. Game. Set. Match. I took 0 damage, and was hit once before Ramuh did his thing.
All in all, hardest part of this quest is the running everywhere...
i would say that a group from 30-35 with decent tanks could take them, the very nice japanese player who helped me, took on 6 of them all on his one'sies, and he was a level 61 red mage. they did about 65 damage per hit on my level 31 thief though.
