this thing is a whimp compared to other "hnms" i dont realy consider it one but sum do anywhy me 60whm a 58blm 60war/nin and a 50 war took it out im not saying its a push over its just if it where a hnm i doubt we could kill it. the 60 war was farmin raptor skin when he got aggro and died me the blm and other war came shortly after to find a dead 69whm and our warso we raise 2 our war rest buff up and while we figure out a sc it aggros me so then the *** kicking began we start fighting and notice... this **** has alot of hp its hitting our war for roughly 50-80 dmg and our blms debuffs are sticking exept for silence it uses stonega and our barstone wares so our wars almost die we get them back up and i get barstone back on then it uses dispellga then i barstone again lol then it uses stonega only 80 dmg wars sc blm bursts then we get hit with breakga and barstone wears then it stonegas and kills 50 war so then we keep going at ike this for 20-30 mins thwn we run outa mp and our wars hp is 80 and it starts casting stonega so the war lets lose a sick *** rampage and kills it no drop but i dont care it was fun id kill him again anyday even if the drop sux well thats it exept for after i get warp 2 i forgot about the other whm who was still there lol
Yea, I'm looking for cockatrice so I can synth so meat mithkabobs with the meat. I come to this area of the map and see him. Hey its an NM. I run up and hit it for 0 as 42drg. Well, i start arunin and he casts dispelga, pulls me in, hits me, breakga, pulls me in kills me. Yea It sucked. Revenge Will Be Mine!!!
I will get my revenge on this ******* (killed me 2xs) you will see. I when my summoner gets to 75 wiht all my AF2 and -smn perpetuation gear and predator claws here I come to rip u to shreds.
Actually he is cake at 73 SMN with only free carby meleeing away. Used 5 carbies (about 35 MP) before it was dead.
I assume it has no powered up mode, but since hearing about such things I imagined that he maybe got a slight boost over time. Hit carby for about 30, and carby hit for about 80.

1 60, 5 45-mid 50s, and 13 lvl 30-33s
we were on our way to jeuno after having gone to explore attohwa casm for fun, and one of the rangers saw this guy on widescan
so, none of us had ever heard of em, so we all dismounted our chocobos and decided to try to take him
we engage, all the eager little lvl 30s ran up and started trying to hit him (missing or hitting for less than 10 dmg) then the 45-55 and the 60 engaged (60 was a pld so he was tanking)
about 30 minute in BAM stonegga IV
12 dead bodies on the ground all the lvl 30s just dropped
and the rest of us accept for 60 were at orange HP he was at yellow
so now we're like, o ****
he casts stonnegga IV again about 20 seconds later kills me (53 thief) and the whm and blm
4 people still alive are all in red hp, then he hits the pld with his weapon skill, another death, and chased down and killed the other 2 as they ran away
we'll be back for you *************

Killed this last night on Kujata server around 4AM EST.

I found it so I stuck around (WHM30).
We didn't get the drop but we did die TWICE so we just had to take it out. It was a fun NM to kill but way overpowered for the drop. Give leaping boots to this and they might be worth camping. :)

ok so a few weeks ago i'm running along trying to farm, and i run straight into this guy. So i went to the site to check what level he was, it said mid 50's (at the time i was 45 thf), so i ask one of my friends and his party to come and take it. 70WHM and a party of low 60s came with him. So a 63 BRD comes up first, we try to take it untill the rest of the pt comes. ohhh big mistake on my part. Waraxes' weapon skill deals 500++ dmg to me, killing me. So i'm laying there dead, then my friends' pt comes and it takes about 10 mins to kill it, and one person almost dies. pretty insane NM.

we tried to kill it me (63mnk/31sam) and a friend of mine (63blm/31rdm)while waiting for our pt but we got owned by it, so when the pt were set they came and raised us and we got our revenge ^_^ HIP HIP HURRAY ^_^v

lets see i walked up to this guy thinkin o cool a NM. at the time i was a 56 blm/23 drg >_> (dont ask questions i was playin around with the ls lol) so i walked up jumped on him did 78 dmg and then did dark harvest for 14 and all the sudden he started casting stonega 4 i tried to stun and he resisted and then i got hit for 911 dmg >_<. i dont like him very much....

If you ever want to kill him for fun (because the drops suck) ... here is some info you can gauge yourself against.
TARU BLM 72 / WHM 36 - Solo
Buffs - barstonera - other buffs arent worth it because they jsut get dispelled
Debuffs - blinded, para'd, slow'd him. Waraxe gravity'd, petrified, silenced (very rarely), and int down (very rarely). Petrify was resisted almost every time, and did not last long when it stuck, with whm sub. Gravity i just erased.
Damage: He hits kind of hard - so i beat him down with earth staff, whith the occasional aero IV thrown in. I did about 30 dmg a hit [218 staff skill]. I spirit takered for mp. Waraxe hit me about 50% of the time for 40-70 damage (earth staff equipped).
DMG Spells: Casts stonega IV alot, which i stunned most of the time, but when they hit they only did 100 or so ... even with barstone down they at most did 200. I drained and aspired.
He can be bound, but he pulls you in if you are too far.
Took about 20-25 minutes .. whacking down abotu 15k hp.

Well, when I was a noobish lvl 40 whm, I was farming out in the mts and ran into this guy. I took a whack at him and to my surprise it didn't hit him. He took two pecks at me and I was history. So, today I decided to go for some revenge. If there is any question of it, let me say this is definitely an HNM. I tried my usual smn tricks and got him to 1/2 hp. He used some pretty mean moves. Stonega IV, dispelga, graviga, and breakga. I fought him for a while with the trick of casting and recasting Carby and keeping my distance. This worked until he hit 3/4 hp. After this, everytime Carby died, I was instantly drawn into him. This wasn't a huge deal until he started spamming breakga. This instantly petrified me and Carby. So, I wasn't able to run, only to sit and watch. I managed to break free everytime before he killed Carby. I tried this for awhile and made the mistake of using blink as opposed to stoneskin. At this point he was a little less than 1/2 hp. He drew me in and casted stonega IV. It was instant death at full health. Now that I know more about him, I might try him again some other time, but for now I am content in saying that he will kill any and all who show even the slightest sign of arrogance.
BTW His lvl as shown on this is correct. HNM lvls differ from normal NMs. Make no mistake, this is an HNM.

Some relevant background about my character at the time: 63 smn/whm, Verm Cloak, Light Staff, Carby Mitts.
Killed this today sort of because I had to. I was goofing around in Meriph. and knew there were two NM's that popped in the area. I had Carby out as I normally do, and it's a good thing. I saw a raptor and thought I'd farm a quick skin off it and I see this HUGE bird running at me.
Carby, trusty bodyguard that he is, attacked. I thought HAH! Cheesy NM. One to add to my score. Then I noticed something that surprised me. It started casting spells. What the... It hit us with Graviga, and then I noticed that Carby was hardly scratching him, but that he was putting a healthy dent in Carby. I ran (with gravity) pretty far away and waited to recast Carby when he died. Carby died and I started recasting him. As Carby emerged, something strange happened. The bird was now right in my face and Carby was way over the hill. I looked at the log. "Waraxe Beak draws Negativepositiv in!" I ran towards Carby, getting hit for about 100 damage with every peck. Carby attacked and got hate and I ran until their health bars disappeared. By now, I realized that this was no joke and that I could be in serious trouble. Normal NM's don't use the pulling ability. I buffed up with Prot2, Shell, Blink and Stoneskin. Right about when I got stoneskin up, Carby died and I started recasting. It was a good thing I got stoneskin up, because as soon as Carby was out, I was drawn in again. I ran towards Carby and got ready to hit it with Meteorite. It did some decent damage, but not like a big gap in the thing's HP. This thing has LOADS AND LOADS of HP. In hindsight, nuking was probably a waste of mp and I should have saved it. Little did I know how long this would go on. As soon as I hit it with Meteorite, I started running away, but apparently not soon enough because the thing hit me with Stonega IV, taking my blink, stoneskin and about half of my HP.
After a few Carbies, I started to figure out its pattern. It was a good thing I had the gear that I did or there is no way I would ever have survived. After 10 minutes or so, my MP was a bit below half and Waraxe Beak's hp was a bit above half, so I got pretty conservative with mp. I hadn't been hit by any nukes in a few minutes so I opted to forego reapplying stoneskin and blink when they wore off because it was starting to look like the mp loss would be the tie breaker in his favor. With my cloak and auto-refresh, I would regain about 4 mp each time Carby died and I stared recasting. When Carby was cast it took about 5mp, so each recast I was only losing about 1mp. It's a good thing the mp loss was so conservative, because the fight went over a half hour, and I must have gone through 35-40 Carbuncles. I lucked out and never got petrified, and the only other nuke I got hit with was Graviga after getting hit with Stonega IV the first time.
He dropped Cockatrice Meat and Skin. Pretty annoying, but while I was fighting it, someone on my LS had already told me the drop was something cheap, so at that point I just wanted to say I beat it.
Meriphaud Mountains is something of a newbie zone, but make NO mistake, this is no newbie monster. There is no way this thing is only 55. I've soloed things that were VT to me as a 63 SMN and this thing was MUCH harder than any of them.

It _is_ 55, just an HNM. ^^ The same story goes for King Arthro in Jugner, Level 55, but also a HNM that'll blast you with Waterga IV~

Was doin the Selbina Clay quest with my Drk friend. When I picked this badboy up on my widescan. I remembered reading about him so i /tell'd some friends to come out and kill this NM (didn't remember what the drop was, if i had i wouldn't have wasted everyones time ^^;)

anyone going to mention that saying this thing is lvl 55 is ********* 62 rdm in strong gear full buffs, it clipped me in one hit for allmost 2k. thats nulling stoneskin blink phalanx and cutting thru shell 3.

This POS is about as funny as BB in la theine plateau. i saw him, though "oooh, NM in an easy area, i should kill him..." Well... sure my hits landed and hurt him, but i onyl got 2 in before he cast stonega 4 on me and did 950+ damage. NOT a good idea to even be near him unless you're 55+ and in pt of similar levels. And silence him. Duct tape that nasty beak of his up and chop his head off XD (yeah i'm still pissed about losing 2K exp to a stupid cocatrice)

This mob isnt that bad -.-' first right (61rdm, 58whm, 58thf) we had to tele out. then we ran back with 1 70blm. i tanked it. dunno how i kept the hate but i did. no drop. wasted bout 15 min on my time to get nothing.
i assume it has bout 4500-5000 hp. since we did 4 sc and 4 MB with firaga 3 on it. didnt have to 2hr it.

i was in H-11 the other day and came across a Taber beak that /check ed impossible to gauge. reguardless it owned me in two hits. however the info here says taber beaks are from saur champ and i am sure i was fighting it at merp mountains. also the taber beak that killed me was impossible to gauge yet taber beak is not a NM.

i saw this thing and saw that it conned "impossible to guage", so i figured "hey, nothing in this area can kill me, so i might as well take it out" big, big mistake, as far as i saw though it has week defence, as a 51 samurai i was able to do maybe 1/32 damage (yes i didnt think that was bad) so i was thinking a party of 55's could prolly take him out if they were well prepared. He used no magic or skills on me, each hit was only worht about 160 apiece. If he has really strong amgic then the silencing idea might be cool.

I saw this bad boy on widescan, we were on our way to Dragons Aery, and i figured id hold it till my party got there. well to my dismay, the son of a ***** decided to draw me in (i had no idea this level 55 mob was like a mini HNM). Sleep arrows didnt stick, shadowbind saved me for about a minute, then he decided to stoneaga me. i died, but my party came raised 3 me, took a level 70 party with good dmg and a blm, about 5 minutes or so to kill this thing.
i doubt this is possible to kill solo without the SOB being silenced.

This owned me i got lv65sam 55sam 56sam(me) and 53whm it owned use 3 stonga IVs... we had like 30hp after that and 1 hit killed us got ls to get raise 2 this NM should be BURNED!
EDIT: This does do draw i tryed to flee to zone and was drawed back and died whm tryed to altep us but no luck we all ended up dieing

This thing is a bady for its area. Hehe im glad i never encountered it until lvl 70+. Waraxe Beak has a LOT of HP and casts the following black magic spells: Breakga(petrification aoe),Graviga(Gravity aoe),Dispelga(Dispel aoe), and worst of all Stonega IV (Note: I've heard he also uses Draw in which pulls you to him.). I dont know how he is lvl 55-56 but whatever. I found that a RDM can solo this at lvl 70+. I died first time but the second time and every one after I killed him. Simple fight just keep your buffs on and constantly using your on judgement refresh stoneskin. use spirits within at 300% tp and aspir him to keep MP up. The good thing about RDM is the resist petrification traits so his Breakga and petrification ability will rarely affect you and in the case that it does it will wear quickly hardly causing any problems. After about 45 minutes of fighting you will win. I just fight him for fun and ive gotten the gloves twice which are worth nothing but its just fun fighting him everyday. Dunno what party lvl can take him but hes definately not a pushover with insane HP and BLM spells like that what was squareenix thinking putting him in merph. mountains!? :P

I was gonna go look for Dagger (nm) one day trying to look for something to make some gil. I then seen this NM and and knew that it would prb. whoop me so i called a 67whm friend and a 55 pld and me a 40thf lol, we got our a**** stomped. It petrified and then AOE'd and knocked me and the pal out the whm ran towards the zone and then his reraise II wore and he died. What did i learn from this expeirence? Dont attack every again! Be very carefull with this it is very very strong!
right after losing deggi to a bot me lv 54 pld and a lv 60 pld and a lv 58 whm was going to see if daggerclaw was up and he was spawned

I was messing around as RNG56/THF farming up seeds in Meri Mtns one sunny day.
THen I decided to have a picnic in the SE part of Meri Mtns. After frolicking along, I noticed this big bird. Then noticed that it came charging for me as I tried to cast Shadowbind and start chipping away at the long distance between me and the closest zone. Plop Plop Plop! I notice a pile of bricks at my feet. It immediately casts Stonega IV. Plop. I'm now having an intimate conversation with the floor.
This thing aggro'd like crazy. It must've been getting revenge for the 1000s upon 1000s of meat kabobs I've been cooking and selling lately. Anyways, still laying face down on the dirt about 10 feet from my picnic basket and blanket, I use the bat phone to call for help. My MNK71 and WHM71 LS buddies come to assist me. I get a Raise III from the WHM and the MNK starts pulverizing the big bird. It drops some skin and one piece of meat.

Came close to soloing it as a 72pld. He uses Stonaga4 and Dispelaga and draws in. He just has too many hit points for a pld to solo (we plds just dont hit hard enough). Called in a whm friend for the raise, we beat him and got 2 pieces of meat and 3 skins.
