I finally have my revenge.
Stupid octopus picking on me when I was a low level... now I am lvl 72 and I swabbed the deck with his ***! It was a fairly long fight but I took him down!

god this guy is evil. The first time i saw him i was lvl 15 rdm with no sub....it went sort of like this:

Oh so the night I first saw this thing I am lvl 26 WAR/MNK (Elvaan) I was on my way to Valkurm to rack up on a little bit of conquest points and help out when a /em calls for help! arises....anyways, So theres a lvl 75 PLD there, and a few other lvl 60+ people They were all fishing and enjoying themselves, then suddenly I see they all start casting Invisible and Sneak. It's about 4:00AM So I can't think that straight. So I see a Sea Pugil and decided "Hey I can kill that!" I'm running up to the thing, so I hear a sound, a sound of attacking and auto-targetting. I turn around and much to my surprise this ******* come and hits be for about 210-230 a punch. I back up into the dorr I'm trying to target, with no avail. I throw up Defender, thinking it will spare me some time....WHACK WHACK! 2 hits and I'm out. So now I'm laying there by the door, trying to get someone to raise me. Gladly after the Sea ***** left, someone did, and I only lost about 300 EXP which I quickly gained back. All I say is when I get Samurai high enough, this ***** is going DOWWWWWWWWWN!

When I was around level 70 I came across the sea horror and being the bad *** that I was, I decided to take him on. It became painfully obvious it was hopeless. I hit it with gravity and started running around the ship in wide circles. By some miracle I survived until we reached port.
A couple days ago im on the ship and now a level 74 RDM with WHM sub. I thought WTH, buffed and charged into battle. What a fight, its specail attack ripped apart my buffs and left me with less that half HP. Somehow I managed to rebuff and convert mid fight while taking blows. In the end I was victorious. I got the boots which really meant nothing in the long run. I had my revenge! The fight began as soon as we left port and lasted a good 5-8 minutes, but what a rush!

Well, today I was on the boat hoping for this thing when suddenly, there it was! I focused, berzerked, dodged, voked and started fighting. It didn't look good. Our HP dropped point for point on the meter. I used hundred fists, beat the thing down quite a bit, then used asuran fists. Hundred fists was still active so I beat it down some more. By the time Hundred Fists wore, the horror used its hundred fists. I gained 100 more TP and used asuran fists again. That just about finished it off. A few more hits and it was dead. I was so happy! My HP was only about 300 out of 1700, but I lived to tell the tale.

this thing spawned today on my way to valkurn. im a 63rdm taru and i attempted to solo it. well needless to say i got owned. ill tell you how it went. Sea horror popped and i got claim. i had stonskin,shockspikes,refresh,pro 4 on. it started out fine. i was having 7 hits before stoneskin wore off. i was down to about 6/8 health when it uses hundred fists. it ripped through all my defenses. i could get stonskin up in time so i was getting my *** kicked now. it was doing about 75-100 dmg to me at 63.i died and a 67rng and 74nin finished the job off easy.nobody try what i did at 63 wait til maybe 70+ to solo this. x.x
I tried soloing this as a RDM/BLM on level 68. I got him to about 1/5 health before I docked in Selbina. Came back with 50THF and 60SAM, rocked him. I subbed /NIN and tanked him with no troubles at all. I have capped evasion, which is D, and he missed me like crazy. When SAM got hate I just cure IV him to get it back. No trouble really. This is just a fun fight, the boots sell for crap anyway <.<
Kept Bio II and Poison II on him. When he two houred I used gravity on him and kited him around the ship. Was a fun fight and had a lot of people getting excited ^^

Some great stories in here! Back a loooong time ago when I was level 60 THF, I was on the boat for unknown reasons. I was provoking stuff as it popped - sure enough, I claim Sea Horror. I asked an NA RDM in full AF (Gatsby) if he'd help...he obliged, thinking I was higher than 60. We're trying the duo, and it's not going well. Several level 30ish characters tried to help and healed us. Gatsby pulled hate and ended up dying. I knew it was over for me...I just tried to kite the thing to stay alive, recasting Utsusemi whenever I could.
I ran through the doors into the bottom of the ship, where there happened to be about 10 other players, most of them AFK. I tried to turn around to save them, but Horror killed me. He then decided to feast on all the poor souls in the cargo room. Horror started going nuts! Thud. Thud. Delevel. Thud. Delevel. Thud. People running everywhere, dying everywhere, little taru's trying their best to hide behind crates only to be massacred by an onslaught of tentacles. Pretty much everyone down there was dead. The Sea Horror then made it's way back up to the deck to annihilate the few survivors who had cured Gatsby and I earlier...it truly was a Sea Horror Holocost! When the shipped docked, it looked like a Dynamis wipe on the Mhuara docks. My old friend Scizl, who abandoned Titan for Remora :(, came and helped clean up the mess, along with a JP WHM (who seemed rather amused with the situation).
Fast forward about 6 months later to last night. 74 THF, WAR sub, I went to Selbina to drop some things off for a buddy of mine who just started the game. I didn't have any gear with me except a few pieces because I was Goldsmithing when I ran out there; I just tossed a bunch of stuff in my moghouse, not really paying attention. I forgot to bring a fresh Warp Cudgel, and there was no way I was going to run through the Dunes to a Telepoint. So I somehow ended up on the boat again. Sea Horror pops, staring right at me.
Suddenly I began to have flashbacks of the carnage of that dreadful day months ago. I must have suppressed those memories, buried them deep in my subconscious mind where they belong. Gear check time: AF Boots and Pants, Hecatomb Gloves, Assault Jerkin, Lust Dagger, Shaded Specs, and about 7 stacks of bolts - but no X-Bow! So much for soloing it. Just then a 70 THF, Juele, opened up the cargo doors, and asks if I want to duo. I informed her I didn't have any gear with me...next thing I know I provoked and we're in a party.
Fight started out well, I'm tanking OK with no blink or evasion gear. Hit my first Dancing Edge, its HP doesn't seem to go down very much. Finally the hits on me (~100 DMG) start to add up, I'm down to about 300 HP, and Juele SA/Dance's to pull hate. She's blinking fine as we gradually beat its HP down, until it readied Hundred Fists. Boom boom boom boom as I'm screaming (Perfect Dodge) (Perfect Dodge)! She hits her 2-hour with 60 HP left. After her 2 hour wore, I SA/Dance to pull hate back. 2-houred myself. After another Dancing Edge, Horror doesn't have much life left, but enough to be dangerous. Some kind soul cured Juele back up to about 300 HP, right as Horror does an AOE TP attack, knocking us both under 100 HP. It can't end like this....
Luckily I had a TP Wing on me, which I then immediately used and fired off a last resort Dancing Edge...we won! Dropped boots and 2 shells. Was a fun battle - the close fights you win always are a huge rush, one of the more redeeming things FFXI has to offer. Now, I wouldn't exactly call this victory revenge. I'm planning to come back properly equipped and I will pummel his *** into the ground without breaking a sweat, for all those who've fallen to his tentacles.

I was on the ship, hoping to get attacked by pirates; {Sand Charm} {Can I have it?}! So i asked if anyone would be willing to help. I got two people to join in a party. a lvl 45 i think and a lvl 72 pld. both fishing.
So we get on the boat and the horror spawns. I run away and a lvl 14 just stands there. I tell her to run and she moves away. Well, the lvl 14 ends up dying. then the lvl 45 dies. me and the lvl 72 and stay safe
The pld raises the 45 and guess what! He dies again!!! we docked and both people got raised.
Ship back to Selbina and the lvl 14 dies again to the S.H. as does a random other. Then sneak wore off on the PLD and.... with only fishing gear he dies a slow death. Used invincible and regen and died as soon as we were docking. It was a miserable ride.
btw the Pld had died a couple of time to him earlier. this last time he dlvld ; ;

Had a friend that was in my grop deacied to take it on despite are warrnings and been a lvl 19 TFH and got killed with one hit.
Then it went and killed the rest of my party.
I was the only one that suvived the ordiale.

a couple days ago i was Fishing with some freinds and this thing pwned a 73DRG/36WHM and it used hundred fist about half way through the fight i feel bad for that poor lil DRG :P

I've encountered it a few times...last was the other week omw to Mahura... a lvl 72 Blm, my bf (59 Rng)and i(48 Whm) decided to try and take it on....and i was pretty much convinced the Blm would have had no problems killing it, due to his high lvl and powerfull spells...how wrong i was <.<; 4 hits later the poor Rng was dead....the blm took a defence approach to the battle and decided to use all his MP casting stoneskin and blink..didnt do him much good..and dispite my curing he died too and dlvled...i obviously didnt stand a chance at that point X_x once we got to Mahura we had a little chat with the Blm who decided to go bk on the ship alone and seek his revenge..{death} {you can have this}....lol met him again a while ago in Jeuno..he was now lvl 70... something tells me he had a few more unsuccesfull encounters with the Sea Horror ^^; {run away!}

Okay, so this is my second time on the boat, by myself.Im sitting down, enjoying the nice weather.There's a whole bunch of lil taur's fishing, and the usual low lvlmobs pop up. Than a sea monk pops right beside me,or so i thought.I look at its name "Sea Horror" oh crap, ive heard of those...but before i could even stand... im dead ; ; so i died,than i Homepointed, only to have a whm /tell me that she would have raised me if i waited ; ; oh well...
I was just sitting on the boat, enjoying the ride when this thing appears RIGHT on top of me. I tell my LS, and the first response is /goodbye.
I managed to run off before it realized I was there. So a little while later, I open the deck doors to see if it was still out there...IT WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE DOORS! (Idiot)
Fortunately I was rescued by a couple of high level mages, who tractored and raised me. (Thanks Bellaluna!)

Well this happened not too long ago, but a NIN LS mate wanted help with Engakerou for AF on the boat. So I'm like fine, maybe we can beat up some pirates in the meantime. So i goof off in boat, until it leaves, then we noticed it wasan't the one the ghost popped at. So he had to duo it with his other RDM 63/BLM account. Death Ensues.
So now we make a a seemingly balaced party but with huge level gaps, They were the NIN, THF51/NIN (me) 70RNG/NIN, 60BLM/RDM, 60RDM/BLM and 70+WHM/BLM. So yeah we chill in Mhaura until the boat ride arrives. Now we're at the point where we were /psych ourselves. So we were just saying "just whack the ghost, it'll be too easy.". But were were kinda hoping for pirates and/or Sea Horror.
Well I tell the BLM to "spam like you would do at Spook, so no one messes it up." So we're waiting for the 20:00 mark for pop and a little before that, the mob we all know and love pops and the BLM stuns it not 5 seconds after pop. By the time we were having somethink like a group orgy, and then the red ghost pops.
The plan was that RNG and NIN duo the ghost, while we were tankless (yay) and faces the Horror, so natyurally i Perfect Dodge and SAVB it, held enough hate till the end, but out of pure BS, the RNG missed Eagle Eye Shot on the ghost... I was laughing until tears came off, so he Barrages it and kills it, and then Slug Shots the Horror and grabs hate.
He did a real good job keep hate and shadows up, while we whacked it good to 1/2 hp till he Hundred Fists, so RNG decides to kite it whiile BLM nukes it, and thank god he didn't lose hate. but nearing the end of the 2HR he decides to go to the RDM that just converted > Cure IV himself, and well, dies, and then floated back to feast on the RNG.
NOW, we harrass our BLM to 2hr it, and he bursts it and aero III's it, and then he dies, so me, NIN and RNG finishes it off... And guess what, no drop. It ended up eating the shell after lotting it.
All in all it was a good experience, NIN got AF, (and btw great job controlling NIN and RDM at the same time) and we killed the Horror... no pirates though... ; ;

I was laughing until tears came off, so he Barrages it and kills it, and then Slug Shots the Horror and grabs hate.
He did a real good job keep hate and shadows up, while we whacked it good to 1/2 hp till he Hundred Fists, so RNG decides to kite it whiile BLM nukes it, and thank god he didn't lose hate. but nearing the end of the 2HR he decides to go to the RDM that just converted > Cure IV himself, and well, dies, and then floated back to feast on the RNG.
NOW, we harrass our BLM to 2hr it, and he bursts it and aero III's it, and then he dies, so me, NIN and RNG finishes it off... And guess what, no drop. It ended up eating the shell after lotting it.
All in all it was a good experience, NIN got AF, (and btw great job controlling NIN and RDM at the same time) and we killed the Horror... no pirates though... ; ;
