This is a fun fight. He's a little green birdie that likes to Yawn and put you to sleep, then run laps for 30 seconds. We had 9 for this (pld, sam x 2 (me), mnk, blm, war, rdm, thf, blu), but I've done it before with just 6 and went 2/2 on him.

Two main things. One is that he does a move called Yawn in which everyone FACING him is put to sleep, so make sure mages have their back to him. After he does Yawn, he runs around for 30 seconds (doesn't link with other mobs), so plenty of time to curaga the pt. After his running fit, he does an AoE Wing Whirl that goes through shadows. It is stunnable, however he can do it up to 3 times in a row. It hits for a few hundred per, so with 3 in a row, you can have some members in the red at this point. He also might hate reset when running as well.

One strat that we didn't really employ, but could work well, is to have one person run after him while he's running and gain hate, have them take the Wing Whirl damage while everyone else waits to engage. His Wing Whirl is a fairly wide AoE though. Just something to try, but not necessary.

The other thing to keep in mind is that at below 50% (usually around 30% from what we've seen), he will start using 100 fists after he's done running. And when he's done with that, he'll do Wing Whirl. So the strategy, as our WAR found out very quickly in the last battle, is to kite him instead of straight tanking HF. He died, but we did put the bird out of his misery at that point.

It really is a fun fight and pretty easy. His Yawn >> Run is a very good thing since it gives you a breather for a bit. Again, just make sure mages keep their back to him.

Oh, and easiest way to get to it is to take Azouph Isle Staging Point, grab a Lamia Fang Key for the door, and head to the spawn point in Arrapago Reef.

FYI: Most of this strat came directly from FFXIcyclopedia.org, but thought I'd give personal account that it works like a charm.
