update: i finally stole something, but it was land crab meat.... ?? i thought it was supposed to be cockatrice meat?

I have been fighting these as level 41BST/17THF to get the fangs, and using beasts from my old jugs to tank. I can probably fight 15-20 without resting. I basically keep fighting until my pet dies, and then I rest -- and at that point, I probably have about 200-300 HP left. Can you really steal from these? I keep trying and haven't gotten anything.

To give you guys some bearings on these,
I am 44BLM/WHM Taru, and faught 2 in a row without resting, no issues..
fully buffed, no food.
after 2 my mp was gone.. and had 300hp..
they miss allot, but when they hit, they get me for 35ish..

Just wanted to let everyone know, for sure the Sabertooths Tigers in Carpenter's Landing aggro to Resting, 50PLD/THF, full HP, and was aggro'd by one while resting MP. LOL, stupid Tiger ^^
any mob that aggroes will always aggro to you if you are resting, even if they are too weak

so is the best way to make money from these doing the 3 fangs for 2.1k quest?

me and friend i was lvl 28 nin and he was lvl 34 PLD we were sooloing as a pt yesterday they were easy with food we onyl did that to get to old sabertooth tho
These aren't farmable until around 45-50. You might even die with a lvl 37
well your wrong there unless your talking about the ones in batilla downs.
the ones in jugner i was farming at lev 33THF solo.

The ones in Jugner are Forest tigers. Sabertooth tigers ARE the ones in Batallia...

I have been in a battle with three of these at once, and I used Hide, and it still saw me >.< I think they can detect by something else too. Yes Hide does work in the middle of battles

Yeah, many mobs detect and pursue by scent. So when you use Hide, it will still be able to detect you from scent. Hope that helps.

I fought the ones in Batillia a lot and yes they do link i make sure to get about 3 of them then i use an AoE WS

Can some one be more specific on how to make good money out of farming these things?
i know^^, theres a quest in South Sandy that gives you 2100g for every 3 fangs, quest NPC name is Taumila at (E-9)
I stole a slice of landcrab meat off of one of these i dont know how though, why would it have one anyway?

I found out that you can steal cockatrice meat from from the tigers in the Champaign. I definatley want to back there one day and start snatching those.

Yes. They are a great way to avoid the horrible trains in kazham. I recommend finding a bunker with a zone in the back and pull into there.
Make sure your whm has paralyna, and keeps paralyze off the tank, and you should do pretty well.

Tigers are very good sources of money especially in battalia since they are all over the place. They do not link but do aggro. 40 hours worth of farming these will get you anywhere from 500k-1mil gil so if you have bad NM camping luck, you might want to try these. I can make 40k-50k off these in about 3hours so they are indeed good sources of income.
40-50k an hour at what level? I'm assuming you're a 45+ thief or 60+ Blm and you're doing this solo so you don't split the drops with others?
He said 40-50k in 3 hours. Quite a difference, in one hour it would be impossible, 3 hours is a reasonable figure for that amount of gil

28-32 may be the correct level for one of the zones they show up in, but not for both. The ones in Jugner are much easier.
The tigers located in Jugner Forest are Forest Tigers (lvl 22-25), not Sabertooths. :-) The level listed is correct for the Sabertooths in Battalia and Sauromugue.

I disagree - I've hunted them often as a 55THI/27NIN and they do not link. On more than one occasion, I've had one in battle while a 2nd one ran towards me only to run right through my character and continue randomly running.
