    What is a Field Manual?

    Field Manuals are books scattered across areas of Vana'diel that allow players to participate in Fields of Valor training regimens. Fields of Valor is a quest system that rewards players with experience, gil and tabs for defeating specified enemies.

    Just finished doing page 3 in this area and got the following:

    570 exp pts
    570 gil
    57 tabs

    I didn't do page 2 so I don't know if they happen to be the same.

    It appears that they are like Allied Notes in that you get them as rewards for completing training programs (killing the required quota of mobs), and they can be used to buy various food effects and beneficial status effects.

    The page from the second link says that the food doesn't go into your inventory, but instead is instantly eaten.

    BTW, I only know what I've read at this point, because I quit before they added Fields of Valor.
