Pop Time
# Feb 13 2007 at 7:52 PM Rating: Decent
It pops EXACTLY 24 hours after maintenance. Not 23 or 23:15. When SE does maintenance they turn the servers back on before you can log on. So we never know exactly when they were put back online. This is why alot of NM's are already up when you log on right after reset. After its dead (when its name disappears!!!) it pops exactly 72 hours after that.
72 hours from death message.
# Dec 18 2006 at 8:09 AM Rating: Decent
Note that the NM spawns exactly 72 hours from the killshot - to the very second. Not from when its corpse poofs, but from the "Soandso defeated the Bloodsucker" message. This is good to know, since if you plan to use flee or flee boots, you know exactly when it will spawn. BLM and BRD can easily sleep the adds. I think I went 1/7 on the NM and only once did I pull with no adds.

As for server maintenance, many many times I've seen it around the 23 hr to 23:15 hr marks. However, there have a been a few times that its been around 21:30 mark.

and me again. . .after reading about it and seeing how the syrup is a pansy, i decided to try my luck with him. . . 1st try i got beaten to it by a certain THF and decided to help him (he promised help w/ Kreutzet in return but that help never came, *sigh*). Hasted THF75 in usual att/haste gear combo is like The Untouchable for it. . . .Came again another day and missed pop, another day and died to 2 links since i had to outpull someone else unbuffed -.- and then watched a DRK75/nin + WHM75 duo it

Pop condition
mentioned etc. He will pop roughly 23 hrs after a server reset. Ofc give or take a few mins but thats the time. After that he will be a 72 hr (3days irl) pop. No pop window of any kind, just a timer and he's usually pretty good on time.

Place
Sewers under the Sandy castle. . .i wonder what the f*ck the prince is tossing into his toilet. . .He spawns in the lower area between a bunch of standard Bloodsucker mobs that have exactly the same name ( /goodbye widescan). He is supposed to be pop-able in the whole area though i have only seen him pop in the western part. Right at the bottom of the stairs, south of the stairs, the W-E hallway east of the stairs and the dead end there. If u have the luxury, clear the area. . .or thx to the aggro nerf, have someone suicide-pull him to the stair, wait for the normal mobs to depop and fight the NM. If u don't, look for a corner and pray. . .or pull him to the ronfaure zone, bind/gravy/sleep him and zone. The normal ones should depop but while the NM slowly backtracks. . .again needs u to run and live through it, not talking that u cant take much dmg or he'll be back home by the time ur recovered.

<How?>
As mentioned his name is the same as all the other blood-s.uckers around. In widescan he will show up as last one, not that it helps anyway. . . Except for botting and hacking the only way to find the real slim shady. . .Bloody is visual contact. He#S pretty much same size as the rest, but in a nice blue in opposition to the standard red/orange of the rest. Like all the leeches he aggroes to sound and links to other leeches.

Setup

I went as Mithra RDM75 / NIN37

Joyeuse & Genbu Shield (occ attacks twice | 10eva * dmg-10%)
Bibiki seashell (4VIT)
Walahara turban (Haste5% * 30HP/MP)
Peacock amulet (10racc/acc)
Suppanomimi & Moldavite earring (5sword skill * +dual wield | matb +5)
Ogre jerkin +1 (42HP * 7VIT * Ice spikes)
River gauntlets (Mithra 60HP * 6VIT * -5AGI * 1MND)
Jelly ring & Rajas ring (dmg-5% * Mdmg+5% | 5STR/DEX * 5store TP 5subtle blow)
Amemet mantle +1 (3STR * 15ratt/att)
Warwolf belt (5STR/DEX/VIT * 3Enmity)
Warlock's tights (AF1 13MP * 3MND 15 enhacning skill)
River gaiters (Mithra 35MP * -3DEX * 4INT * 4MND)

stats:
STR 62 +12
DEX 73 + 7
VIT 59 +22
AGI 68 - 3
INT 66 + 4
MND 60 + 8
CHR 55
ATT 323
DEF 268

skills:
sword, evasion, enhancing, enfeebling capped
Shield 118
Parrying 131

merits:
3 x MP
4 x sword
3 x crit

Spells/buffs/medicines:
Stoneskin, Phalanx, Haste, Prot IV / Shell IV, Enblizzard. Utsusemi

Enfeebles:
Slow, Paralyze, Blind, Gravity

Fight went pretty smooth. started with a ~600 Spirits within and then just melee'd + Savage blade. He only damaged me one time. Did about ~30dmg + 70-80HP drained to me with phalanx.

NM: i did about 3.3oo dmg, deducting the drained HP it should have roughly 3k. TP attacks are the usual Leech stuff (HP/TP/MP drain, acid mist etc). Double attacks quite often but doesn't hit too much. Neither att nor def is overly good either. All in all a pretty easy fight as long as u can deal with the drain effect. Reward was 57XP, 6k gil, 2x Beastman blood, pigeon's blood ruby and bloodbead ring (makes me 1/1 in successful fights).

I have seen this NM pop 11 times so I thought I might share some info to help people out.

It took me 8 kills with TH1 or TH2 every time but one before I got the Ring but the ruby dropped everytime.

Although I have seen him pop in multiple places, 9 times out of the 11 he popped very near to the bottom of the stairs. (5 times in that first room to the right and 4 times in the hall that would be the first left you take after coming down the stairs. The times he did not pop there, he popped twice in the dead end hall that is just under the Asuran Fists NM hall on the map and once was in the furthest south east hall)

Leeches track by scent and the whole area is covered in water, which means that the new "aggro nerf" (also known by the less accurate term "mpk fix") allows you to pull as many links as you want because when they lose your scent and disappear the NM will remain. This made pulling him after the nerf much easier than before it.

Also, although it may in fact be 21-24 hours after the server resets, he only spawned for me exactly at the 23 hour mark each time. (4 times were 23 hours after the server reset - the other times were 72 hours from the previous kill)

Good Luck.
Got it ^^

I just got the ring earlier tonight and I thought I'd share what I know since some of these posts are missleading and many are just dead wrong.

~ Spawn Time: The Bloodsucker NM is on a 72 hour timer so if you get the ToD just come back in 3 days. He does *not* spawn right after the servers are reset, and he does *not* spawn 72 hours after the servers are reset. After the servers go up from a maintenance he will appear in a 3 hr window of 21-24 hrs from the reset. After that first kill he becomes a 72 hour spawn. I can confirm this because I just killed him at about the 23 hr mark from the servers going up yesterday.

~ Drops: 1 Bloodbead ring, 1 Pigeon's Blood Ruby. I can't say anything about the drop rate because this was my only kill and I got the ring.

~ Other: Bloodsucker is *not* a lottery NM. All leeches in the area will sound aggro even at 75 and they will also link. (Much xp has been lost trying to get this *******'s ToD.) He can spawn anywhere on the bottom floor with all the red/orange EP Bloodsucker mobs. The NM is blue as shown in the picture here and checks "Impossible to guage!" If it's been a few weeks since a reset, just go down and take a look sometime. My good friend went down to randomly check on him and he was there, unclaimed, with nobody camping him...I was at work ><;

I think that's about it, I'll edit if I come up with anything else. Good luck guys, this is a pain in the *** to get but it's well worth the trouble. \^^b

This is correct information.^^

NM spawned for me about 22 hours after maintenance at the lowest part of H-10. I had been camping for over an hour when it spawned.

FYI: This NM is sleepable by BRD. It was found 1st by my BRD friend who kept it asleep until we reached him. :3

Just wanted to confirm that this information is dead on. I claimed the NM 23 hours after reset and then exactly 72 hours after I he popped and I claimed again.

Got blood both times and the ring the second time. I duoed this as 75BST/WHM and a 75THF/NIN.

This is a great combo for this guy because my thf friend claimed in a room with 5 links and tossed up perfect dodge until I could get there. I cleared the links, healed the THF up and siced a leech on the NM and rested MP to keep the THF as healthy as possible. Probably one of the most exciting fights I have had in the game and we definelty earned the drop.

I will be going back to get the THF one in 3 days.

Last week i camped this guy for roughly 2 1/2 hours just hoping to get a ToD. The JPs on my server tend to be fond of the "secret" NMs that drop nice rare/ex items, there were 7 JPs in the same party killing the red ones while i was down there after the server went up, i think they left earlier than i did because i did a /sea every 10-15 minutes to check on who else was camping it.

Can anyone confirm that it's spawn time doesnt open RIGHT AFTER the servers go back up?

Also, how big is his spawn window because 72 hours for repop is most likely to have a VERY large window.

I can confirm that this will not be up after maintenance or at the 72 hr mark.
NM

1) 72 hour pop (real life hours duh)
2) not lottery
3) Ring isnt 100%

This NM spawns in area with bloodsuckers that are red, only difference is this is blue and has the /check of Impossible to Gauge!

best way to get this NM is to wait EXACTLY 72 hours after a Server update (when they reset servers) then look for it. rng widescan wont pick this up because it has same name as other leeches in area.

I would really like to have this ring. I know how to get to the sewers, but where exactly in the sewers does it spawn? I don't want to run around killing place holders if I'm in the wrong part of the leech area. Thanks in advance.

Update: Fought this bad boy. Myself and a 74 rdm friend of mine attempted to duo it. We got our asses handed to us. The NM is a tough little critter, but we could have taken it. The problem was the 5 linking leeches that woke up when rdm didn't have phalanx on so couldn't sleepga them again. The NM does a drain effect for each hit it lands. It's very weak to magic. To put it into perspective how strong the drain is at one point we had to half health and when we wiped he was at full health. Best to have blink tank. Blink tank=no hitting, hence no drain=no HP recovery.

You guys are mixing mobs up here.
I believe this NM ONLY spawns in Bostaunieux Oubliette and has the same name and sprite as the others leeches there but will con "Impossible to Gauge" when checked.
It spawns randomly under the main part of the area (you get there by falling down the traps) and spawns once every 24 hours.

Duo-ed, myself as 74 Rdm/Nin with the help of my gf's 72 Whm/Blm.

If I screwed up and both shadows and stoneskin were down, it would hit for around 20 damage and drain 110ish HP.. so really, it would do 130 damage. It doesn't seem to have the health that a normal mob doing that much damage would have, since it seems to rely on doing damage to be a huge threat.. so if you can blink tank it well, it's not that bad. It was harder clearing other non-NM bloodsuckers out of the corner it was in without the big boss aggroing, with only two people.

Also, it only dropped Pigeon's Blood ruby, kinda disappointed because I wanted the ring.. looks nice. Guess it's not 100% drop on ring, it's probably 90% and I have bad luck or somethin'.

Well, this NM(bloodsucker) isnt the same as those in canal. Its blue in color, while the others are orange. Also takes like 6-8hrs? to pop anywhere in the sewers.Drops earring with +50hp(100% drop).NM itself is tough, hits pretty hard to a 75 and some hits randomly has a drain hp effect to it,meaning,if it hits you for 120,can drain another 100+ hp from you.Kind of similar to the Rdm af3 NM in feiyin lol
