The drop rate on the shells is horrible. You need 3 to complete the quest and it took me hours to acquire all 3 with a pt of 3; blm, whm, and brd, lvl 75 (all tarus hehe).
We ended up turning our farming outing into a skill up / NPC party since there was only the 3 of us. The NPCs leveled up twice and we got several skill ups on the way. We were killing them at the perfect pace because after we cleared the room, the first respawn started.

I find these bettles and the Dire Bats around them to be good as solo combat skill up material. I used them for my staff and club, as a Summoner.

they don't respawn fast so once you clear the room, you are golden

Anybody know where these spawn?
n/m found it G-9 second map in a circliar room, and they link like crazy so be careful :)
