We're here in the Valley of Sorrows fighting these things and here is a little input on what to expect as a White Mage your first time here.
Make sure before you leave Jeuno to have already bought and learned Viruna. I used this spell for the very first time here, so if you thought you didn't need it, now's the time to buy it.
Once you're here buff your pt the regular way. Cast Barfira cause it really helps with "Foul Breath".
Now Foul Breath is what will disease your party members. The only members you cast Viruna on are mainly the mages. If party members do not heal between fights (i.e. Ninja, Samurai, Monk, etc..) they do not need Viruna. Those who heal need it. When someone is diseased they can sit to heal, but they will not gain HP and MP, so make sure you cast Viruna.
That's pretty much it. No one told me any of this, luckily I had the spell for what seems like forever, so it worked out.

This point is extremely important for us PLD out there. I have been in the habit of macroing in Dark Staff and resting in between battles, especially when there is no refresher (although since Lv.40 or so it's pretty much a must to have one.) The difference between Disease, which is what these raptors give you, and other enfeebles like Bio, Poison, Dia, etc. is that you are able to stay "resting" but you will not recover any HP or MP. So if you're a PLD and rely on resting for MP make sure your WHM casts Viruna on you after each battle.

the foul breath is nasty but just have your tank face the mob away from the party, viruna just costs too much mp to be using it so much, just casting viruna on 1 person is much faster and easier

The raptors don't link, but they do aggro very easily. Be careful when pulling in Valley of Sorrows.
