Coffee makes me rest easier because I know I'll be awake for the next hour and not have to worry about falling asleep on the way to farm and dying in a chocobo accident.
I skilled up on these bad boys from 62-65.3 (would have kept going but ran out of coffee powder. Failed a lot, finally got advanced synth support and failed less, but still probably 1/3 for the whole run. To go 3.3 levels it took me 84 synths, a little over 2 stacks per level, not bad since it was relatively cheap (I spent all of 30k gil on everything).
Recipe: Fire Crystal Coffee Powder x1 Distilled Water x1 Maple Sugar x1
Coffee Powder Recipe: (19 alchemy AND at least recruit level cooking*) Wind Crystal Roast Coffee Beans x1
* Had a friend w/ 88 alchemy and 0 cooking try to synth these for me and it let him try but he couldn't get a successful synth after 6 tries.
Roast Coffee Beans Recipe: Fire Crystal Coffee Beans x1
My cooking was 62 when synthing these and I was getting lots of HQs (got 8 yield twice, 6 a few times, 4 frequently and then 2 about 60% of the time).
Kind of a pain in the butt to get all this done, but if you've got some alchemy skill it's a great way to skill up in the mid 60's.

I can definitly confirm the 3h duration of these. You can't stack with cookies. But since it last 3 hours, it'll save you tonnes on cookies.
My advice? bring 3 to the dunes. 1 should last a good session, the 2nd is for that random death that happens in the dunes, the 3rd is in case you get a real good party and it goes beyond 3 hours. If you die 3 times in short order, it's time to take a break from the dunes and do something less fustrating anyways...
Decided to make a signed one of these today, thought it would be just too much fun to have Acupofcoffee give away a signed cup of coffee. Bought the Inferno crystal, had no problem witht the synth (cooking 95) but the cup is not signed. ; ; Have I misses something, idk, maybe you can never sign drinks?
Unfortunately, this does not work like Juices, Milk, or Au Lait.
Traditionally, you can have: 1 Juice effect AND 1 Au Lait/Milk effect AND 1 Food effect active at a time.
However, Coffee is treated as a Food effect (which was a little disappointing for me, since I had dreams of Coffee + Tacos/Cookies for some really nice hMP).
As it stands, the NQ seems to be a good alternative to Ginger Cookies, except in a form that doesn't require re-application every few minutes. According to Somepage, this lasts for 3 hours, so use accordingly.

While it's not called Starbucks, there is a tea house where you can buy both Coffee and Tea. Even has the cakes on the counter and in what may be one of the most obscure in-jokes in the game, there is a relation between a quest that starts in location and the origin of the Starbuck name.
You can buy both Chai and Coffee there, as well as pastries ^^v

Didn't effect the base stats, hp, mp, att, or def.
I was hoping it's give a haste effect, or maybe mazurka effect, but I guess not. Neither was true. Could just end up being resist sleep.

Maybe if we wait long enough, he'll tell us about how he walked barefoot uphill through snow both ways in Uleregand and defeated the evil Snoll Tzar with nothing but a stack of pebbles. Men were men back then. Mithra were men, too, but they don't talk about that.
Mellowy is awesome, now.

I'm sorry. My hoovercraft is full of Summoners. As soon as I claim a thread, they just flood out and cover the whole place. Slippery suckers, those Summoners.
