sucks. maybe procs 5% or less. my experience has been more like 1% or two hits out an hour of fighting mobs.

I have this sword. It works very well for me. My armor is set up more for fighting then playing backup healer for my party. I don't kno how long I will use it but it is a good sword.

While the fire effect does not kick in all that often this sword is definatly worth it. The main reason for this is because its DPS is better than both the longsword and the longsword+1

Also as a Paladin or Red Mage especially accuracy is of a concern. Lower delay between swings will help account for those jobs that suffer from a lower accuracy. While you may question how this is true when PLD has A+ in sword, a PLD must gear himself defensivly and this comes at the expense of accuracy.

I bought mine back at lvl 18 in Bastok (Shiva) and will be keeping till lvl25 or 30! Though the extra fire damage is no big deal, the sword is fat enough and deals great damage.

I kept my flame sword for my warrior from level 18 all the way to level 30 and had no need for a new sword. It was paired with a Lantern Shield and I was set! It was a rather good investment I would say. They go for about 20k on the Bismarck server.

This is just the exceptional result of: "Fire Sword" to make it all you have to do is have a high enought crafting level.

In fact, the fire damage DOES stack with En-spells. In the canyon coming into Qufim, I hit a worm with a flame sword while enchanted with Enthunder. It took primary damage, fire damage, and lightning damage. Nearly everyone in range stopped and /examined me trying to figure out what bizarre weapon I was using.

If you are a RM, don't bother. I got this sword, and found out that the fire damage does NOT stack with any En-spell effects. You are better off getting a longsword. Other than that, good damage sword for the money (bad procing though, rarely occurs, and never does much damage when it does).

You know you've been playing too many MMOs when:

You pass a cop and wonder if it 'Agroed' you.
Another car passes you, you attempt to /follow it.
You use your "push to talk" key while talking on the phone.
Text-based games You put a /s before every message you type in an IM (or equivalent / command)
(I have done all)

i have the flame sword on bismarck, bought for 24k. fire dmg hits bout 1/8 - 1/10 times :( . only thing really impressive bout it is the speed, i had the fire sword before flame and flame i can just barely tell the differnce in speed. i can get in a couple more hits before my party kills the mob to work up my tp for the next 1. i dont know if i would buy it again though, just for xtra speed i can wait an xtra sec for more dmg.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 21 2004 at 3:53 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i heard that it is the same recipe as fire sword except you have to make it on firesday
differences are..

The Fire sword does 12 damge and has a delay of 225. 5-8k gil at AH

The Flame sword does a damge of 16 and has a delay of 218. 30k gil at AH.

both are lvl 18 and both add fire damge. the damage is random. not with every strike.

I currently use a fire sword and like. I would prefer the flame sword but it is too rich for my pocket at the moment.

anybody own one?
# Dec 13 2003 at 2:33 AM Rating: Default
Does any one have this sword and can tell us what percentage of swings actually has the extra fire damage? every swing? 1 out of 6? I bought the fire sword and have not been impressed yet.

This sword is the result of a critical success while trying to craft the Fire Sword. The higher cost seems to be driven entirely by the idea of min-maxing yourself into the best equipment for a given level, as opposed to being reasonable.

But, I guess that it's a way for people who put alot of cash into tradeskills to make something back.
flame vs fire
# Nov 29 2003 at 5:24 AM Rating: Default
the flame is just a proc and only adds about 5 damage the cost difference might be explained because it has higher damage and lower delay than the fire sword,it looks like any other sword when your wearing it.
visual?

Can anyone tell me if there are flames or anything showing on the sword when you're holding it? Or does it just look like an ordinary sword that procs a fire spell?

Ok, ive been trying to figure out what the difference is between the flame sword and fire sword other that the 1 dmg less the fire sword has. Its 30k in the auction, the fire sword goes for 5k...... What really is the big difference? Does the added effect of the flame sword hit more times??

The Fire sword is player made.
The Flame sword isn't. (or at least the recipy isn't known)

Player made = Higher supply = lower price

I bought one for 27k. I can't use it for two more lvls but it was the first one I've seen on auction so figured I should get while the gettings good. The two month old auctions on the price history list (from before release in NA) had it going for 24-25k.

Just guessing here, but the reason for the low availability may be that it drops from a mid level mob that the JPN players are too high for and the NA players are too low for.
