Added icon, guild level, and added HQ yields for the Leathercraft recipe.

Desynthing flutes for these things is quite annoying.
I'm 68 wood and I break at least 2/3 of my crystals. Rest of the time I get maple and parchment. I log to my mule who has no crafting and pretty much come up with the same result. 2 stacks of crystals yielded 5 parchment and 2 maple. Funny how I HQ'd with no crafting done >,>

The HQ results must be from Leather recipe. It looks like the HQ result of the Woodworking Desynthesis is Maple Lumber....I dont need that crap lol.

Parhcments in Sandy on asura go for 30k a stack, i can get flutes for 50gil, so i could either buy aload of parchments and make flutes or make parchments out of flutes to then re-make into flutes.

Do you need to do the item at your lvl to progress or will still making parchments give me skill points?

Enter The Shrine of Ru'Avitau from the main door.
Talk to the untargeted mark strait ahead.
Get a Cut Scene.
Talk to the target once again(if you want directions)
Buy or craft a Parchment.
Kill Cursed Puppet's until you get a Bottle Of Illuminink.(be careful of meltdown.)

Visit the foutain while it's full (full moon between 00:00-03:00) and trade the Bottle Of Illuminink and Parchment.
Obtain an item Ark Pentasphere

Enter any la'loff entrance, use the Ark Pentasphere to call all 5 ark angles to fight at the same time.

Rewards for winning is one of five earrings. They are LV72 All Jobs. The earrings are below.

hmmm...well...unless its english parchment then its made of paper but thanks for being the next contestant on the pseudo intellectual is wrong....actually parchment comes in many different forms.

This is a Desynth. It costs so much cause it is so much harder to make. I use 2 stacks of lightning crystals and 1 stack of flutes and get a full stack of parchment but then again im lvl 28 and i have extra stuff that makes it easier for me.(furniture). The difference is the names as u noticed "Bast" and the fact that they are each used for different purposes. The "Parchment" is very usefull even though it isnt used in many synths it is used in 1 major synth that is needed to get to higher lvls in wood working. If you would like to do this your self do it in san d'oria and only when sandy in first for balance of power. This will make it alot cheaper. On kujata server its about 2.5k Gil for 1 stack of Lightning Crystals and exactly 588 gil for 12 flutes. Just to let you know i never do this unless i have advanced synth support from wood workers guild and the right furniture in my Mog House.(50 BookHolders)

I've decided to help a friend make some parchment so he could level his woodworking.

When I started, I only had 1 full skill point in woodworking, but I still managed to get skill ups.

So obviously, the skill cap for desynthing flutes into parchment is higher than woodworking 1.

i am lvl 33 woodworking, i tried making some parchment, and i bought 3 stacks of lightening crystals, and i only ened up making 7 parchments all together. so that should give most an idea of the odds of making one is.

I've heard mention of an HQ synth of this (the sheep leather recipie). Is it a higher yield or something? Or this person just completely off their rocker?

Parchment isn't as easy to get as stated here. Most of the time you may get Maple Lumber instead from the Flute + Lightning Crystal formular.

in sandy AH parchment goes for 1.9k-2k..and the guilds sell out of everything as soon as the shop is open.

I Just saw a guy desything an item to make parchment. I waited round til he failed one and its like a 50g item you can buy from npc.

For those of you who are curious, "Parchment" is made (in reality) of sheep's skin that's been treated and pounded or rolled very thin. It is far thicker and durable than regular paper, although is has a tendency to crack or crumble if it dries out. In FFXI it can be found at the leatherworkers guild or under the leatherworking materials section of the AH. It is this Parchment (plain parchment) that is used in the Bard Flag quest.

Bast Parchment is the term the game uses for a parchment-like sheet made instead from treated, pulped wood fiber, ie paper like most of the paper you print things on in reality. In FFXI it is a woodworker's guild item, and as such can be found under the woodworking materials section of the AH. This "Bast Parchment" is NOT used for the Bard quest.

Yes, I am confused about the parchment also. Is there a difference between the "Parchment" and the "Bast Parchment"? This reminds me of the mulsum quest, where you had to get "5 pots of honey" but the actual name of what the bees dropped was differrent. PLease help.
