Here is another recipe I found on FFXIclopedia:

Alchemy (42)

Earth Crystal x1

Djinn Ash x1
Sulfur x1

Yield: Firesand x4
HQ1: Firesand x8
HQ2: Firesand x12

skill up on this at (33)Alchemy. you wont be mad. good thing about this is if u have a RNG and like guns^^ you are now your own ammu-Nation.

Sell it or Stockpile it. It'll benifet u after u hit lvl (40)Alchemy

I think u can dig this up almost anywhere lol. I got 2 today one in batilla and one in quicksand caves. Is this a hard item to get or people just like talkin bout it??

It's used to switch gates in Newton Movalpolis. You'll have to trade the firesand to a spot called "Furance Hatch".

I just scavenged one of these up in Pashhow Marshlands. It was raining at the time. I think this starts to take away from the weather scenario.

I just dug one up in altepa. No weather effects at then time so I dont believe it is linked to weather effects in area.

Just dug it up myself, except I got mine in Meriphataud Mountains.

The types of items available might have something to do with the weather effects in the area. Both zones have Heatwave weather effects.

Firesand / Fire weather: Connection? Maybe.
