This is obviously some higher version of prism powder as can be inferred by the fact that the rainbow cape is the HQ prisim cape. . . however, what it actually does better than prism powders is still a mystery. . . .

It's just more predictable, is all.

It's just like regular Prism Powder except that it lasts for a guaranteed three minutes instead of the uncertain duration you get with Prism Powder. It does nothing else interesting.

I have done some relatively extensive product testing on this stuff. My results appear at the site below:

Rainbow Powder Product Test @ http://www.FFXIOnline.com

Needless to say, it does not work on either Mire Imps or on Empty Monsters. I did have a successful test on a Nashmau Ferry Imp, but I'm not sure if they're aggressive or if regular Invisibility works. The duration test shows a 3 minute duration and a following test of Prism Powder yielded 4 minutes. I have not done multiple duration tests--it is entirely possible that they merely have overlapping random durations.

You have to realize also that there is "True Sight" and "True Sound" for example, Taurus mobs are True Sight only, as where Heraldic Imps, soulflayers, empty, and other typical True Sight mobs are both True Sight and True Sound.

I crafted a few of these and ran around a group of imps, and didn't get any aggro. I'm not sure if it works around NM's, but so far I've had no aggro...but I did have sneak up.

If that's true then Promathia missions just became a whole lot easier. I'm not sure if that is a good thing. It was a solid way of seperating the wheat from the chaff.

you speak of this game as if its a matter of shooting down an enemy fighter jet plane.
Effect?

Could be for true sight mobs, though I'd be suprised if SE let you do that o_O

It is definately a Prism Powder type thing though, description from the dat files is similar -

This fine powder diffuses light,
rendering anyone covered in it
invisible to the naked eye.

It could be something to do with summerfest, as it's next to the 2 fireworks you get in that in the item list.

Maybe this is either an expensive knockoff of prism powder, or maybe it'll allow you to walk past True-Sight mobs?

Just a thought.
