It's well worth using, and fyi it looks very good. No matter who wears it, the stats on it alone make it worth using.

Cor AF mini-quest

You have to flag the Cor AF hat quest "Against All Odds" in order to get this by completing "Navigating the Unfriendly Seas" and then talking to Ratihb at the Tea House in Whitegate. Then go speak to Leleroon in Nashmau. He'll give you a choice of three Cor AF pieces. **Note that once you pick one you have to finish the mini-quest before he'll let you start working on another piece.**

Next go to Port San d'Oria and talk to Raqtibahl in the Rusty Anchor Pub. He'll ask you for the following materials (all available on AH):

Gold Chain
Velvet Cloth
Red Grass Cloth
Sailcloth

The NPC will then ask for a commission of one Imperial Gold Piece. Come back the next real life day after midnight JST to collect your Corsair's Frac.

well actually we have to pay for materials to get 3 pieces of our af made. only piece that we get that is good with out paying for is our hat. other than that is like getting a gobbie bag. which i must say is easy but it sux we have to pay.

Pay for their AF? What? I've heard of people kill mobs for one of the AFs, but as far as I know you don't need to give SE anything (other than the monthly check).
