idea to break charm

Don't quote me on this, as i've never actually put this idea into practice, but wouldn't it be wise to have the white mage stand away from the mob? That way, if charm goes off, they can use (dont remember the name) Seal > Erase for an Erasega effect, which *SHOULD* take out the Charm effect. Again, can't confirm for sure, as i've never really tried it, but it's worth a shot... because if the white mage dies from the charmed party aggroing, they just have reraise up for when the rest of the party comes uncharmed. Other possible problem is that the mob aggros to the Erasega effect and charges after the whm... Reraise takes care of that too. Will put this idea to the test when i go w/ my LS, and post the results of it. Till then, gl to everyone that tries this guy. ;)

Erase works on friendly party members. Once they're charmed, you can't cast friendly spells on them. Maybe Fenrir's dispelga would work, though.

I got one of these when I hit Lv.60, partly for the base damage 38, and partly for the MP drain. I used it for 5 levels and ended up selling it back at 65 when I could use Ifrit's Blade.

It is a nice sword, but I don't think I would have bothered getting it if I didn't read the MP drain effect in the description. I just didn't find it very useful. Obviously you first have to be fighting a mob that has an MP pool, and when it does, the sword only drains 4-8 MP (or at least these are the numbers I saw in 5 levels with it). Don't quote me on this, but if I made a very rough guess, I'd say the MP drain effect kicks in about 1/20 hits.

If you have the gil, it's still a solid purchase, but in my opinion the base damage doesn't really outweigh the acc+3 and atk+6 on Musketeer Commander's Falchion, and the MP drain isn't frequent enough to be a major decision in the purchase.

Just my take on it~

I went ahead and grabbed one of these for my Blu on Garuda. I hate BCNMs. I get drops, but never the ones I want from the BCNMs so I just sell the items I do get and go buy the ones I want. This item I got off the AH for 2mil. While everything on my server currently continues to drop in price daily. This sword not only seems to be maintaining its price, but going up as it's 2.3mil or more now. It comes on AH rarely on Garuda maybe once or twice a week.

Usually MP drain items work like this. They kick in just like any other of the swords that have additional effects like fire damage. They kick in randomly and seem to kick more often at higher skill levels with the weapon. Random means it could kick in anytime even fighting monsters that don't have MP. Which you'll get the animation and it'll do the same thing it would if you had aspir'd from a monster that has no MP pool. "Drains 0 MP". On the bright side though if the monster has MP you'll get a little bit. Most I've seen so far is about 20 mp on a drain. It averages closer to 10. Now this is more of a nice little bonus feature of the sword. The damage it has, delay, and bonus of 12MP with a slight chance of the effect kicking in is what makes it really a nice sword. It can effectively be used from 60~75 with no problems. It matches the damage output of "most" swords at high level. Not counting the uber stuff you can get of course. I'd say worth the gil if you got it. If not it's not something to really go out on a limb for. imo.

Did this BC last night. somepage says Wisecrack (the AOE charm) is stunnable, but from what I've experienced, you'd have to be extremely lucky to get ANY kind of stun off on Mocking Colibri. This is just like a Lamia charms in besieged or a BST charm - its instantanious.

The first run we did was on Lightsday and Mocking Colibri never used Wisecrack. After the day passed, he used it gratuitously on the subsequent days. There may be something in raising CHR and Light resistances or weakening the mob to light, like Light Threnody.

Something else we tried was gathering around and getting charmed intentionally. This seemed to work well in keeping the majority of the group alive when Wisecrack was used, however, this does allow Mocking Colibri to regen HP in that time. If you're going in a group that is willing to endure that, my suggestion is to bring jobs that can do piercing damage and sub NIN because there is a very slight chance you'll uncharm before your friend and when that happens, Mocking Colibri will sic them on you, so its good to have some shadows and hope their charm wears soon after yours.
MP drain
# Aug 19 2006 at 5:58 AM Rating: Decent
Ok I have this sword, first one on Kujata, and I can assure you it can proc on any monster. But it does not proc often and when it does it drains 4-8 MP from a monster with MP and 0 from ones that do not. Main reason to get this sword is the dmg, no other sword other than Greed Scimitar has this much dmg at that level. It seems to proc more often at night, unless its just my imagination. Other than the weak MP drain rate/amount its a very nice sword for the level, but really isn't worth the 2-5mil I have seen some servers sell it for.

Although I do not have this sword, nor have used it we can assume two things about it.

1. The MP drain prob only proc's on enemies with MP to begin with like any other MP item/spell.

2. It most likely does not proc very often, similar to other weapons with drain/damaging effects.

Although it would be nice to have for the occassional proc and high base damage and it does seem to be about the best sword for its level, I would have to say this is not likely worth the millions some people might be willing to pay for it.

I'm trying to get this for my BLU as well. I haven't seen too much info on the MP Drain, but the damage is nice for this level even if the MP Drain turns out to be weak.

If this procs a lot it would be one of the sweetest swords ever. Can't wait to see some more info emerge on it.

ISNM60. I forget the name exactly, but it's the one with colibri. It uses a charm attack that can ***** up an easy kill. Best bet, to have someone far away from the mob, like a ranger or mage, that can try and break you out of the trance.
