I know you can desynth some items...could you possibly desynth honey to get beehive chips? On Hades, stacks of beehive chips go for 30k each while stacks of honey only go for 3-5k. It would be amazing if you could do this and make crazy profit

Annoying to farm this stuff. Well worth it though if you craft.

Anything you use a Wind crystal (the process is called
'Carve') or a Water crystal ('Dissolve') or even a dark
crystal ('Rot') cannot be de-synthed back to what it
was before. All these processes refer to synthing methods
that permanently change the item youre synthing in such
a way that it can't possibly return to its original form.
I think Fire crystals ('Heat') are the same way too, but
im holding out on saying that for certain, someone can
correct me if they want. I dont know anything about light
crystals and I'm too lazy to look it up for a random info
post. If you're that curious, you're obviously bored, feel
free to look up the info and post it here. The only crystal
I havnt mentioned is Earth which is 'Bond'. Anything you
synth with Earth can be de-synthed.

That's alot longer than I originally intended.

Edit- the more I thought about it it dawned on me there are
some exceptions to what i was saying, things that would make
sense. For example hairpins, carve them with a wind crystal
from an ingot, since you still have the metal you can desynth
it back into an ingot. Damned exceptions.

Disclaimer - Remember where you found this post before you
refer to it like a Holy Bible.

Actually, not all wind synths are permanent, as you suggest. Most, if not all of the hairpins you can make in Goldsmithing can be desynthed to possibly give you your ingot back. It is the same in Bonecrafting with some of the rings. It is a very good way of saving countless gil, even from the 2 or 3 ingots you may get back for every stack of ingots you synth (as opposed to selling the finished product for terrible loss).

Do you realize how little sense that makes?

That would be like turning linen thread back into flax flowers.

There are 3 possible HQ's for the 4 beehive chip recipe:

HQ1: 6 pots of honey
HQ2: 9 pots of honey
HQ3: 12 pots of honey

I have personally confirmed these results. This is a great way to save money on stacks of honey for high-level crafters working on au laits, at least considering that honey can run upto 4-5k a stack on my server.

Not a bad idea, except for one thing. At least on Titan anyway.

Beehive chips go for 9-10k a stack.

So thats about 3-4k for 4 chips. I would recommend you spend that 4-5k on a full stack of honey.

Might be good to do it that way. Though if you're farming bees then you'll get both honey and bee hive chips. Just turn the chips into honey and avoid the ah pay back all together. Nothing is really lost because all you invested was your time.

True. . .and yet not. . .
give it a 2nd thought. . .
instead of wasting your time on the beehive chips (material), you coulda farmed for gil (aka items to sell) and use the gil you get to buy the honey. . .there are (depending on your lvl) avariety of alternatives that would net you the same amount of honey and some spare gil on top of it. . .

The yield on this recipe is 4, not 2.

Of course, since I can get a stack for 1k or so on my server, I prefer to just buy them from the AH to use in Echo Drops or what have you.

Just a quick clarification on any mp/hp +1 while resting item--

They don't decrease the time between each 'tick' at all.

Lets say that you're at -0- mana and start resting with the honey effect on...your mana will regen as follows (numbers not exact for everyone, this is just an example):

1st tick: 15mp gained
2nd tick: 16mp gained (total 31)
3rd tick: 17mp gained (total 48)
4th tick: 18mp gained (total 66)

so on and so forth:)

The same goes for any "+ while resting" equipment as well to the best of my knowledge.

Hope this helps!

hey just a heads up i have been making honey since level 7 cook with no failure, so its level 6-7 with no support, i think with support you can probably make it at 4-5 try it and see what happens... good luck

Yes - this does work, but I wouldn't recommended it.

At least in the case of the Shiva server, Honey is about 1/3 (or less) the price of beehive chips (chips are ~3000-3500/stack) - and that's before you add the cost of wind crystals (another 1100-1500 on Shiva per stack).

So... it's much more cost effective to just sell the chips and the crystals and buy honey direct from the AH.

Also, you may consider some other options for skilling up cooking if that's what you're looking to do here. (e.g., sliced sardines).

Another TEST on Honey
# Feb 09 2004 at 12:41 AM Rating: Default
Before I used a pot of honey, my BLM will regen mp, while healing, at value with a pattern like, "15 16 17 18..." until full mp. AFTER I used a pot of honey, the mp regen pattern while healing became "16 17 18 19..." Meanwhile, I didn't notice it has anything do with the duration of each tick. Each tick still takes approx. 10 secs before and after used honey.

Starting Level is 10
# Feb 09 2004 at 12:34 AM Rating: Default
I could start making honey from beehive chips at Cooking Level 10. Maybe I can start at even lower than Level 10 but I didn't try.
Untrue. Real info.
# Jan 23 2004 at 12:02 AM Rating: Decent
All of this is wrong. It has nothing to do with MP regen, it's all with rest. I clocked a rest without Honey, and it was about 10 seconds a tick. With honey, it was cut to 7 seconds a tick. Very nice item, and very heavily underestimated. Please to some testing before claiming somthing is true.

All honey does is recover +1 MP when healing (ie sitting down). It does nothing for evade, INT, or defense, OR attack. It just adds one more mana per tick while healing. Mind you thats actually fairly nice for its low lvl to produce.
regen boost?
# Nov 26 2003 at 12:13 PM Rating: Decent
Now according to this page http://homepage2.nifty.com/gametop/ff11/food.htm
It improves your MP regeneration +1 (while healing).

I have yet to confirm this, I'll try later tonight.

edit:

Alrighty, I was able to confirm this just a bit ago. MP regeneration while healing was increased by a point. No other measurable effects were noted.

Misinformation
# Nov 25 2003 at 9:31 PM Rating: Good
I can confirm the listed stats for this are wrong. It doesn't add 20 defense, it doesn't add any defense at all.

In fact, Honey boosts no visible stats of any kind. Whatever benefit it gives can't be readily seen.

Myself, I think I seem to hit more with it's effects on, which would be + Accuracy, but I can't confirm that.
