If Final Fantasy XI was an offline game with the same storyline (up until Chains of Promathia), it would've been one of the greatest RPGs ever made.
This doesn't even display correctly above... and I submitted an image long ago. I don't know why it wasn't put up.

i realy want 2 get this 4 my cor but is ther a 100% of getting the sword? i dont want 2 have 2 go get 6ppl 2gether shouting 4 hours then end out ther is a like 15% chance of getting it. but u never now maby my cor luck will pull through

Let me tell you a story, a store of woe, excitement and a young lvl 22 Black Mage, just on his way to Windurst for the first time.
I am on a ship. It's a beautiful day, the music is playing, the other passengers eager to get to Mhaura. I run to the deck, hopeing to see the sights when lo and behold, "What is this weird thing I see", I ask myself. I run up to it as somebody /shouts SEA HORROR!!!! As I am up close and examing it, I all of a sudden see, "Jerro takes 150dmg, 150dmg, 150dmg...Jerro is Defeated by the Sea Horror.
Flash forward to present day, on a ship to Nashmau, lvl 75whm.
Another beautiful day, the music playing, all of us eager to get to Nashmau. I run to the deck to kill a couple of the parrots. As I'm resting I see a Kraken. Hmm, I hope it's at least Too Weak to me so I can kill it as I'm /Nin. I have 1.1k hp, 500mp, so I examine it and it's Impossible to Gauge. I screwm, Run Away <t>. As I shout, with Stoneskin up, I see "Stoneskin wears off, Jerro takes 100dmg, Jerro takes 200dmgx5. I honestly thought he had Hundred Fists on. Needless to say, I died rather quickly. The ninja, lvl 60 provokes, one shotted, the lvl 75 Mnk hundred fists him, 5 shotted.
Why oh why do I even try?!
The sword would have been so delicious on my Corsair too!!!
Or the 900k would have lvled up my craft at least a good 1 or 2 lvls!!!

no way in hell is sea horror stronger just met this with my party NIN 75 DRK 75 /THF X2 WHM 75 RDM 75 we got him 2 37% thing is lethal tore through shadows like anything poor nin even with both drk blood weapon died before they take effect thing is crazy strong sea horror is a noob this thing is good

A thf is ok for this fight but yes he will need a brd not for haste and madrigal brd will need to do evax2.
I was on the boat and he spawned right as I saw "we are now approaching..." so i thought why not poke him.
As a 75 THF with 160 Eva ( working on it >.> ) and SH, War gloves +1, Optical Hat, etc, he ripped through shadows and had me dead in about 20 seconds. He hits hard (about 120-150/hit on my soft taru) and fast (I would say hundred fist type fast... at least Kraken club fast).
I'd advise to go at him with a Charby type setup. I think THF would be ok ( did dodge about 8 attacks) but would need madrigal and haste for shadow recasts. Better setup would be 1 PLD to 2 hour and 17 BLM to cast Thundaga on him lol.

Drops from Proteus on the ship between Whitegate and Nashmau. Think Sea Horror only stronger and triple attacks a lot.
