Okay. So I just transferred from Fenrir to Bahamut last week. My whistle was in my inventory before I transferred, but wasn't there after the transfer. I've consulted with a GM, they sent me to the Playonline.com communities to try and find another way to get a new one, saying there were other ways. Does anyone know of a way to get a new whistle, without having one?

kk, this is really ridiculous. 1k per charge to charge whistle? That's absolute BS! If who-ever made this shoulda realized that any1 w/ teles can get cheaper rides from the chocobo person standing next to the Craig or just by warping back to what-ever city & go from there. This is really a screwed up system. To make things easier, it SHOULD BE fame based to determine the amount a person is charged to get a whistle recharged.

/em bitch slaps the person-who-came-up-w/-the-ridiculous-system-of-chocobo-whistle-recharging into next several life times.

well i just put mine on basic care for about 15 days then it hatched and then i fed it once a week still on care plan and then watched over it and walked it once a week. i think some of you people who cant get the hanky while it looks away or what ever you prolly didnt give it a hanky to begin with so it can know you better. the trainer will look at it and say you need to keep this hanky close to you so it can have it later for future use. i picked up a dirty hanky when mine was not looking so im sure that was the key item you guys arenet getting lol. mine turned out black with all the neglect i never fed it any carrots or anything

OMG! I left the game for the school year and then came back for the summer. For some reason, before I left, I had dropped the whistle. I thought it would be no problem to just buy another one...I WAS WRONG! 50,000g for the stupid thing and 1k per charge once you use it! What a worthless investment. SE did a bad job with this aspect. If you put all that time into it, you shouldn't have pay massive amounts of gil to use it!

Dont waste the 25 charges on the whistle. When you trade the whistle to the NPC when it runs out of charges, it costs 1,000 gil PER CHARGE to recharge it. To get the whistle is a long annoying quest, I personally went on a short walk, and just grabbed the "item" when the chocobo was "Completely absorbed in its activities"

Hope you found it somewhat helpful. Good luck everyone. Dont waste your whistle!

ok, got the quest from the NPC in windy, to get my Whistle. I had to however, leave town quickly and came back after an extended amount of time.

Now my chocobo is forced retired and got my card and plaque. NEVER got the chance to go to Sandy and get CS about looking for Item that was hidden by my bird. Only thing the NPC in Sandy stables tells me is 500 gil get a Chocobo card.

Did i miss my chance on getting my Whistle and if so how/what do i do now?

Do i get another egg from NPC in Jeuno or buy a (M) card to mate? Only ways to get another bird, and then raising that one, am I able to get the Whistle?

Thanks

Okay this may seem like a noob question but I am sure I am not the only one who has had this problem. What happens if we mistakenly throw our whistle away? .. Do we need to raise another chocobo to do the quest again to get another whistle? Second question, if that is true and we can get another whistle, can we call either choco with it? I asked a GM and they could not help.

Is there a way to register past chocobos on the whistle? I doubt it, but I wish there was a way to do this... I want a speed chocobo but also a digging one... SE should make a way to switch through chocobos (if not already), even if there's some fee involved. You raised them, you should have access to them dammit...

I am sure I am among the first round of people that raised a chocobo only to find out it automatically retires on day 129. I have spent endless amounts of gil and time in cutscenes only to find this out. The problem is I was unaware of the automatic retirement, and due to lack of sufficient information from Square E-dicks, I never obtained a chocobo whistle. I went around yesterday and visited Sandy 3 times in a row and my homeland Bastok 4, and also tried the Jueno npc's. Now that the Vanadiel Chocobo Society Farm has stolen my chocobo, is there any way for me to get a whistle for it? Also, does anyone know if they will ever come out with another manual like the original 'Spring 2004' Version? I thought it was put together quite well. It seems these days Square Enix is not fully exploring their ideas before they put them into motion.

As long as you do the quest for the whistle and give them the chocobo's VCS registration card then you should be able to get the whistle for it. =)

Oh and by them I mean your NPC thats taking care of your chocobo.

That's part of why the Chocobo Trainer suggests as soon as your chocobo is old enough that you visit the NPC in San d'Oria and register your chocobo. You can continue to raise your chocobo even after it has been registered, you'll just need to re-register it to use it's new stats when you ride.

I am really pissed about the cost of the recharging my chocobo whistle. 25K is unreasonable for 25 rides. Cost to ride your own chocobo 1k per ride. After all the gil and time spent raising it. A big rip off from Square Enix or whoever did it. And they say they don't want us to buy gil....

You do not need to retire your chocobo to ride it. I am on day 56 and all you need to do is register it. If it's stats change then you will need to re-register it to reflect the changes while you ride it. Once npc says he is big enough to ride and you have whistle it will eventually get depressed if you do not ride it and it took me awhile to figure out why. But once you go out it will perk up.

Day 29: Chocobo is finally an adult! I run from Windy to Sandy to get the Choco Whistle quest active, then back to Windy to walk my chocobo. Attempt 1: Long Walk. "Your chocobo looks happy". I select "watch"... it turns around angry. WTF, I thought it only turned around if you "look for item" before it's ready! Lame. Attempt 2: Medium walk. "Your chocobo looks happy". I select "watch" again, and it turns around angry.. again. Now it doesn't have enough energy to go on even a short walk, so I have to wait 24 more hours XD

Day 30: I get to windy to attempt to find my whistle again after 24 hours of anger. Attempt 1: Long walk. "Your chocobo is completely absorbed in its current activities". FINALLY! Now I can get that whistle. I choose "Look for item"..... NOTHING. Attempt 2: Long walk, "yadda yadda completely absorbed", I choose "look for item" again.... NOTHING AGAIN.

Now I need to wait yet ANOTHER 24 hours to ride my standard yellow, poor in every category, no-personality, no-ability-having chocobo. What a waste of a month.

From what I can see you get 2 chances to do this minimum. Try LONG walk first, if the message is you chocobo is happy, look over it. Your chocobo should have enough energy to go again, this time it should be absorbed, you should now be able to look for the item without concern. If you don't find the item rince and repeat this on Normal and Short walks the following days. Oh and /slap SE for this crap, can't make anything simple -_-

Ok i'm not sure where or how some ppl got the idea that you have to go to some other nation. All i did was once he told me to find the item i went on a long walk. My chocobo seemed to be busy so i searched while he wasnt looking and I got the item. I left and then talked to the npc again and he issued me A chocobo whistle. This all happened in about 3min max. I equiped the whistle and it started to count down the timer. Havent used it yet but will go try here in a lil bit.

The president of the chocobo society thing is in Sandoria so if you are Sandorian, you are likely not required to travel. At least this is what I gather since this is what the npc told me in Bastok. So yes, I, also as a Bastokan, had to travel to another nation.

When your chocobo is big enough to ride, your choco NPC will send you to a different nation's stables. I am in Bastok and had to go to Sandy. The elvaan told me to look for something the my chocobo has hidden. I waited 24 hours and then took my chocobo on a long walk. It gave me the option of looking for the item. When I went to look I guess my chocobo saw me and I was unable to obtain the item. I can only imagine that I have to keep walking with her until it lets me find it. When you find it, return to the other nation (in my case, Sandy)and the NPC will give you the whistle. You won't be able to use your whistle right away. You have to wait one JP day and talk to your home nation stable NPC.

That is all info I have read and gathered. I hope this helps anyone looking for answers.

Actually, I'm pretty sure you get sent to Sandy no matter where you're from. In fact, I'm from sandy and I didn't have to go anywhere :) Also, when you walk your choco (any length) as an adult, you'll see one of two messages. Something about being happy, or something about being absorbed in its own business. You can only search without getting caught on trips when your choco is 'absorbed' and distracted. Even then, you don't always find it. I'm not sure if it's random every time, or if it's the first time you correctly search some pre-selected region.

Put him to sleep.

Yes yes, I know he IS sleeping already, doesn't matter. If you don't change your care schedule to "Rest" he will never wake up. Set him to Rest, wait 3 days (today is whatever the plan was already set to so tomorrow you'll see todays plan, then he'll rest so the day after tomorrow you'll see him resting. The day after that all will be well again).

Don't worry so much about the effects. He's going to wake up hungery and hating you, but all the care plans still have the same effect. Just give him greens and don't work him to 0 energy anymore.

you need to go back to your chcobo stables where you chocobo is and regester it to be mounted.

This is a little over 500gil to do and you need to do it once every so offten if your chocobo stats chanages.

I had gotten mine mid afternoon and couldn't use it. Tried using it about 10 different times. Never could get it to go past 8%. Anyone know what to do?
